I happened to be in the parking lot at 10am on a Saturday. I was not seeking empanadas. Still, they were open so I checked the menu online. Lots of delicious sounding options. Then I saw the breakfast section of the menu so I went for it.... And I am very glad I did. It's a cute little carry out spot on the inside. The staff (one person, could have been the owner) was knowledgeable. Not a big talker, but I wasn't there for conversation l. I got a bacon and egg and a sausage and egg. Delightful fillings in both. Spicy sausage balanced with sage. High quality bacon. Cooked to perfection. And the pastry! Oh my goodness. Better than many items I've gotten at local "French" bakeries. Is it lunch time yet???

"... is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're gonna get." That's exactly how I feel about Che Empanadas and what gives this restaurant its charm. I spoke with, whom I believe, the owner. His knowledge and charisma persuaded me to try options I'd ordinarily shy away from. The lowdown: there is a large selection, so you're sure to find a flavor profile you prefer. I selected lemon beef, beef, prune and prosciutto, an Argentinian sausage, and spinach and cheese. I also purchased habanero and chimichurri sauces. At 4.50 per option I spent a little over $30 - to share with family. I suggest reheating, which I did not. We all agreed the beef , as well as the spinach and cheese were the absolute best. The prune wasn't bad - perhaps could have benefited from reheating. The lemon beef was too lemony for my palate. I'd definitely return for the options I loved and to try a few additional flavors. Oh, and they have a nice selection of cane sugar sodas if that's important to you. Chau!

Great addition to this end of North Raleigh. The small, take-out only shop is located next door to the Duraleigh public library and in addition to the large parking lot, there are 2 dedicated spaces for Che's customers. There's a large selection of meat, veg, and breakfast empanadas. I strongly recommend the potato knish. Sadly, there's no schmaltz in it but otherwise it's certainly the best you will find in the Triangle. The empanadas seem on the small side but they all pack an intense flavor punch. They also come with a "satisfaction guarantee." If you don't like your empanada let the owner know and he'll be happy to replace it. This makes trying new flavor combinations entirely risk free.

Owner is not welcoming, empanadas are small and overpriced. It was our first and last time there. Sauces are good. Best suggestion - go elsewhere.
