I made a return trip to the Gregg Museum for the "crossed kalunga by the stars & other acts of resistance" exhibit. Admission and parking are free to visit the museum. Twelve spots are dedicated to museum visitors. Masks are still required to be worn inside and your zip code is taken when you arrive. I enjoy that the museum has a wide range of art and artists and the works make me think. This is a museum I need to come to more frequently as the exhibits change every few months.

GREAT little garden out back. Inside is modern and neatly displays a small'ish amount of art. It is FREE so it's hard to give it less than 4 stars. If you are contemplative with various types of art then perhaps you can spend 2 hours here -- maybe more or maybe less depending on your level of intrigue and appreciation for what is displayed.

I am generally against universities that have things like "State" or "Tech" in the name. But I found occasion to visit NC State's museum, and it was a distinctive experience. Only a couple of exhibits were open in the off-season, but there was certainly some intrigue to be had, including some aesthetically pleasing displays of graphics from the university's neuroscience department, as well as some intriguing mesoemerican masks housed in a historic mansion. It's free to visit and has an outdoor garden as well (albeit not a mosquito-free one, this being North Carolina). There was enough space in the building complex that I'm sure there's more to see at some times of year.

What a gem on the Campus of NCSU, from Hillsborough Street turn right into the free parking lot, no permit required, and your tour of the arts begins. There is a whirligig along with other outdoor sculptures among the beautifully landscaped gardens. Once inside we were warmly greeted and asked only for our zip code. There is no admission fee. We enjoyed 4 different exhibits, each unique. A favorite of my out of town guest was the seismic interactive exhibit. Another favorite for me was the North Carolina "untrained" artists, who found healing in their creativity. The entire space, indoors and out, is very well done. I will return on a warmer day to enjoy the terrace and outdoor garden area. Exhibits rotate through, I look forward to what will come next. Each visit is a new experience for both eyes and ears.

Very enlightening exhibits were on display. The one that stood out the most was the items left behind by people crossing the US/Mexico border.

We have been here several times now, as they keep bringing in interesting exhibits. The location is very easy to get into and out of, and there is always parking in the lot. It's too bad that others in the area don't realize what an interesting place this is. Their permanent collection is small, but growing, and with all the interesting artists in this area, they are always pulling in a few shows that contrast and make for a great hour or two. With great food choices hearby, it's a nice date and gives you something interesting to talk about or think about while driving home.

This is a free museum inside of North Carolina State University -- it is inside the Talley Student Union Building on the second floor, with two rooms for exhibits. Currently, one of their exhibits is titled, Barkcloth, Bras & Bulletproof Cotton: The Powers of Costume. It looks at how outfits have formed society and culture in terms of power and status, life events, art and expression, religion and spirituality, and daily living. One of the more interesting pieces here is the kimono made out of fast food bags. I cannot recommend tourists making a deliberate stop (unless already on NC State campus) as this is a really small museum. For college students and other locals, this is definitely worth 30-60 minutes of your time.
