We are all entitled to our own opinions, right? Well here's mine: Parking: 5 Location: 5 Decor/ambiance: 5 Customer Service: 5 I was able to visit this theater this pass weekend and really enjoyed this place. They have lots of awesome plays on their roster list. The location and parking situation is perfect. There is a nice big, clean parking deck off to the side of the theater and its full of parking spaces. We experienced FREE parking on this past Sunday. Looks like everyone at the play was able to park in that deck for free. The building serves as a theater for plays and its also a museum with lots of cool artifacts and trinkets. The theater was sorta cold but it was super clean. The ladies working the box office were super nice. The ushers who helped us find our seats at Titmus were super nice as well. NCSU fine arts department is some kind of awesome!

As a long-time theater fan, I'm usually at the DPAC or Raleigh Memorial Auditorium for shows. But thankfully an invite to check out Hairspray at University Theatre came my way, courtesy of Yelp (thanks Holly!). Currently running at Talley Student Union, the University Theatre group did a fantastic job with Hairspray for this show. From the programs, sets, costumes and performance, I was really impressed with the entire production. Very professional and polished for a student group. The theatre itself is comfortable with good views everywhere. I would have liked a bit more oomph from the sound system but the audio mix did improve later on in the show. And a small wine and beer bar was pouring out adult bevvies for $4 to $5 a glass. So slow round of applause, NC State University Theatre, great performance and look forward to my next visit...

This is a great theater on the campus of NC State. I got to see two shows on separate occasions here - Go Back For Murder by Agatha Christie and Bright Star by Steve Martin. I enjoyed the intimate auditoriums, which allowed for the audience to literally be on stage with the actors. The shows were both excellent, with great acting. Parking (at least on the weekends) is conveniently located right across the street in the Coliseum Parking Deck. You won't see any big productions at this theater, but it'll still be high quality, and definitely worth the price!

I won tickets to the theater fest and was able to watch 39 Steps. The actors and actresses really played their roles well. Even the silent stage crew that would come out to hold a "window" or set up other props added humor with their presence. The creativity of the "special effects" without modern technology and a smaller stage was very impressive. The theatre is very clean and well maintained. I also like how they have the ability to have more than one performance going on at once, it allows them to offer more shows/showtimes. All the staff I encountered were very friendly and eager to help. Parking was also a breeze, there is a deck right next to the theatre with ample space. I wish I could have seen the other 2 plays but now that I've had my first experience I'm very anxious to return. I enjoyed the play and look forward to the next one! Also, even though I won tickets I inquired about general ticket pricing and they are very affordable. I'd recommend anyone to find a play that sounds interesting to them and go check it out!

Thrilled to be awarded free tickets to Harvey at NC State University Theatre. Yelp Elite status rocks! I've been here many times over the years and am always amazed at the talent collected across campus. Sets have always been impressive. I love the story that historic Thompson Hall, completed in 1925, was originally the gymnasium with an indoor running track and pool. After several uses over the years, 2007 saw the renovation to Thompson Theatre which houses high quality performances under capable direction of a professional staff. Tonight's director Mia Self, did not disappoint. The cast of Harvey is a diverse and talented group of underclassmen studying animal science, communication, and history among others. From the set crew, lighting crew, costume crew, concessions and ushers, NC State University students are involved in the performances you see. Come out and support them! Tickets are reasonable, box office staff competent and friendly, not a bad seat in the house, and FREE parking is available right next door in the parking garage by Reynolds Coliseum. Check out Theatrefest in June--1 month and 3 shows!

We have been to several plays here at Frank Thompson hall and so have experienced both theaters. The plays have been fun. The acting is pretty good. Not broadway, but very entertaining. We thoroughly enjoyed THE DIXIE SWIM CLUB and SOUTHERN COMFORT. The first being utterly fantastic. The sets are minimal but good enough. Would love it if they offered some sort of refreshments for purchase during intermissions. The chairs are comfortable. The heating/air conditioning has always been very comfortable. We have enjoyed the events that offered refreshments after the shows--it would have been nice to mingle with the actors as promised, but they are slow to come out. Still, a great value in entertainment and worth the drive.
