If I could give this sanctuary more than 5 stars, I would. Every inch of this space tells a story -- art collected from around the world, sculpted greenery and koi gliding through still water, lily pads floating beneath the gaze of elegant sculptures. It's a living gallery, a meditation on design and serenity. We spent hours in the communal space, talking, laughing, and letting music fill the air (their sound system is state of the art). It was so comfortable and inspiring that we chose to stay in rather than venture out. John is not merely a host; he is a curator of experiences -- part concierge, part architect, part storyteller. His presence elevates the stay without ever intruding upon it. We usually seek a new stay with every visit to Raleigh. But The Store has changed that. It's more than accommodation; it's an experience we'll keep coming back to.

Easily one of my favorite hotel stays - John's place is absolutely beautiful. Everything is so well curated and yet feels like home. You truly never want to leave! John is a fantastic host and a fast friend. He has the best recommendations for anything you need, is super accommodating and is a joy to chat with. The Store is a true jewel in Raleigh. My partner and I had one night on a stopover in town and we didn't want to stay at a chain hotel. John's place is quiet, tranquil, and peaceful. The rooms are comfortable, with plenty of character. Perfect for a weary traveler or anyone looking for a unique overnight. Would also recommend to anyone who has an extended stay in Raleigh. The value of what you're paying for and what you get is outstanding. John is also a lovely person to spend time with, and gives you all the space you need. It felt like staying with an old friend. A Hidden Gem - An Unforgettable Stay What a place. Let's start with that. When you book a hotel, you usually expect a five-star experience to be the best of the best. Over the past eight years, my wife and I have been fortunate enough to travel more as our kids have grown older. We've explored destinations from Peru to Mexico, Central America, and across the U.S., from the East Coast to the West Coast. About ten years ago, we became members of the Marriott Vacation Club, and we've enjoyed many stays at their properties. However, this time, we wanted to try something different. My daughter plays soccer for William Peace University, and we needed a place nearby for our visit. I stumbled upon this hidden gem and decided to give it a try. The pictures looked promising, and the story behind the place intrigued me, so we booked it. From the very start, it was clear this experience would be different. Instead of the standard, impersonal confirmation email, I received a phone call from the owner the day before our stay. He personally ensured that everything was in place, explained the check-in process, and asked if there was anything he could do to make our stay even better. This level of personal attention was just the beginning. Due to my son's football game in Virginia, we arrived late at around 12:30 or 1:00 a.m., but the owner's friend, who was managing the property while he was away, had no issue waiting for us. The moment we stepped inside, it was a "wow" experience. The attention to detail was incredible. We stayed in the smaller of the two rooms upstairs, which was absolutely beautiful. The room was equipped with everything you could need: a mini-fridge stocked with water, coffee, and snacks (which were a lifesaver after our long drive), and a bathroom that was on another level entirely. The bathroom had it all--shaving cream, razors, shampoo, deodorant--and the cherry on top was the Epsom salt for the tub. After a five-hour drive following a long day at work, soaking in a warm bath was exactly what I needed. The next morning, we met the friend who was managing the place. His positivity, customer service, and overall vibe were top-notch. He gave us a tour of the property, shared some local insights about Raleigh, and introduced us to the most loving dog you could imagine. As someone who owns two small businesses and has a busy life with kids ranging from 15 to 26 years old, I rarely take the time to write reviews. But this place deserves it. We live three hours away, and with my daughter having more home games, we'll definitely be back. If you're looking for a unique and extraordinary experience, this is the place. Trust me, you won't regret it.

The design of the place, the attentiveness, the details to amenities and furniture, etc. I wish I could stay for a week! I will recommend anyone coming to Raleigh to stay here. Truly one of my favorite places that I've ever stayed. The Store is conveniently located to just about anywhere in Raleigh and the neighborhood is incredibly quiet and safe. The rooms are stocked with anything you may possibly need and John's attention to detail is something you can not miss. John is beyond helpful and beyond kind, his level of thought and care can be felt though every detail within the space. Highly highly recommend The Store to anyone looking for a place to call home while in Raleigh.

Located at the heart of Raleigh in a quiet neighborhood and close to great dining and sightseeing. John is a great host (also the owner of the place in 3rd generation) - very friendly, welcoming, and super knowledgeable about the city. He met us in person and listed all the local gems on a map. He was also a great communicator prior to our arrival and made sure we could connect for the property tour. The property is very well thought out and you get a lot for your franklins. The room was very clean and had everything you could think of - chargers, fans, snacks, robes, water, and more. The bathroom was very stylish and clean as well and there were more complementary accessories than you could ever think or need. The common area on the first floor looked fantastic - no wonder so many people want to host events here. It's truly award winning. Overall, we were very happy with our stay! It's not even a question if we'll be back. When we come to Raleigh again, we will certainly book our room at The Store and will make sure to tell our friends about the place!

The Store is worth a trip to Raleigh in and of itself. John reminds me of an old school innkeeper -- he greets you at the door, helps with your luggage, and gives you local recommendations for the best places to visit in town. The rooms and bathrooms are impeccable -- I mean truly impeccable. Everything is handled with such attention to detail and care. 5 stars doesn't even do it justice. I highly recommend.
