Love this Deli and Grill restaurant. It is located in the heart of the Village District so parking is sometimes difficult--prepare to walk--but this place is worth it. The Village Deli has a very robust menu that is available on-line with hard-copy menus also available for browsing at the beginning of the line. You order at the counter and they call you when your order is ready. Line usually moves fast so don't be intimidated by a long line. Food preparation is also speedy. On Friday I had chicken salad on a croissant with sweet potatoes fries. It was delicious. My lunch partner had a salad with chicken salad as the protein. They seemed to enjoy it. Fountain drinks and fresh brewed sweet and unsweetened tea are available with fresh lemons in the condiment area. There are plenty of tables inside and outside along the sidewalk. Many outside tables are covered by awnings and umbrellas.,

It's been a while since my last review. It's not that we haven't dined out but lately we've been revisiting our favorite restaurants that I've already reviewed and given high marks. I guess once you've established favorites, going to another new place takes a bit of a push to experiment. So we visited the Village Deli for a quick meal after an afternoon church service. What a revelation! We didn't want to order too much since we weren't that hungry so we chose just an appetizer and a sandwich along with a side potato salad. All were absolutely delicious. The standout was the potato salad. It's definitely rare that the side order would outshine the main entrees but wow, this was so tasty that I think my wife and I are now addicted. So here's how we grade the entrees/apps Potato salad gets an A. The Roast Beef and Gouda Sandwich gets a B+. The Chicken Tenders get a B. The ambiance gives a tavern-like vibe with a lot of dark solid wood furniture and fixtures and my wife loves dark wood furniture! So for ambiance I give this an A. The service is typical of a cafeteria style dining experience and other than the fact that the place is clean and orderly means the service team are doing a good job maintaining the atmosphere. So that's a B, since that's expected. And given the area, this is supposed to be par for the course. We will definitely go back and check the rest of the menu!

We were hungry, and saw this place. It was only noon, and there was no where to park in the lot attached to the restaurant, which was in a plaza with other shops. Eventually we parked and walked here, and the place was packed. We grabbed a menu, made a selection and my husband got in line to place our order. In the meantime, I found a seat. It was crazy!!! They send you a text when your order is ready. Our order was simple (in my mind) and we got our food rather quickly. I had a roast beef sandwich with lettuce, tomato and horseradish sauce. I opted out of the cheese, and also chose a ciabatta roll. I should have asked for it toasted, but it was still fine. It came with a bag of potato chips and a pickle. All very good! The pickle had a great snap to it! My husband had a Philly chicken and cheese, and potato salad. He said all was delicious as well. It seemed to clear out for a very short time, but was immediately busy again. They had quite a bit of seating outside as well. Delicious food and worth waiting for a table if you choose! Enjoy!

Does not stand up to the Lake Boone location. Sandwiches were so dry, despite there being sauce on them. Fries were bland with no salt. Onion rings were not the same as the other location at all. The only redeeming thing was their chipotle aioli. The coleslaw had no flavor whatsoever. Do not recommend.

The food came out reasonably quickly. Offer multiple TVs to keep you entertained. BLT had a good ratio of all the ingredients. The pastrami on rye came out on butter-toasted Rye bread and melted cheese with pastrami. Great sandwich, will order again.

As a new resident of Raleigh, I wanted to try this spot for lunch. It isn't far from where I'll be working and I was quite surprised how crowded it was on a weekday. So I figured it was worth a try. The cashier was very friendly and helped me figure out my order. I went with the turkey sandwich with the Vidalia onion dressing and pasta salad for my side. The food took maybe 10 minutes to prepare, which wasn't bad considering there was hardly a table to be found. Pretty good sandwich, nice quality ingredients, but certainly not the biggest I've ever had. The pasta salad was vegetarian, it had a tangy vinaigrette, it was solid. It was fine, but not what I would call special.

The deli is always great. The food is phenomenal and staff are friendly. However, earlier tonight(around 6pm July 15th) one of the staff members went way above and beyond. There was a woman in the parking lot having car troubles and I asked the cashier if any of the staff had jumper cables and one of their staff(I'm kicking myself for not getting her name) went to their car and offered her jumper cables and was incredibly kind and generous. It was great to see her so willing to help those around her and I just had to leave a review. I hope someone is able to identify her and give her the recognition that she deserves! Update: the employees name is Sydney!

The pick up orders have been a problem at this location. The bag is always missing items paid for I don't notice until getting home. Last time all the side dressings were missing. This time my sweet potato fries were missing. But the food that I do get is delicious. In store orders are exact. But ordering online the orders are always missing items that were paid for. It's aggravating cause it happens constantly. The pick up window employees need to do a better job. They weren't rushed. We arrived after the order on our app said it was ready. It's always a struggle at the pick up window to get help and an order that is accurate and complete.

Why the food quality is decent... The portion size ( one of the smallest Rueben's ever ) and the finish ( bread wasn't toasted) was subpar. Place is clean and busy but no better than a common mall Panera
