Service sucks, was there for over 2 hours and waitress only came once! Luckily we ordered food with our 1 AND ONLY drink, otherwise we probably wouldn't have gotten to eat!

I'm halfway through 2019 and finally back at the ol' typewriter. We took a beatin' this winter, so it's good to see the weather letting a little slack in the rope, here. When you live in the winteriest of the winter wonderlands, it can be a chore to get out and get social. This winter, however, I found me a new hot spot that's been right under my nose since I moved to the ol' Red River Valley. Now, this joint ain't that old, and it seems to have taken a couple years to get 'er dialed in. That bein' said, if my experiences have been in line with other fine MBR patrons, it's a pretty darned good place to grab a bite. That would be Moorhead Billiards & Rail. Center Avenue, Moorhead, Minnesota, just east of the "big" city, across the river, from Fargo, North Dakota. Do you need more commas? Comin' right up! Moorhead Billiards & Rail bailed me outta the ol' cabin fever this winter by bein' a great joint to grab a few wings and a cold drink. I'm tellin' you right now, you can forget all them wannabe joints that have the word "wings" in their name. Moorhead Billiards & Rail has that niche covered, rock solid! If you show up on their doorstep before 9 PM, you get wings at a pair per cherry tree chopper. These ain't no scrawny leper wings like you get at some more popular kitchens. No, these bad boys come off of Grade-A, healthy poultry. The MBR hash slinger gets these crispy and golden brown and then tosses 'em in a nice selection of wing sauces. The classic Buff is enough, but I'm going to recommend that you give the spicy garlic a test drive. At 4 bits a bite, you can afford to go around the world with your tastebuds, c'mon! Now, if you need to bust your belly a bit bigger, the Moorhead Billiards & Rail menu has a respectable selection of meals. I can recommend the following menu items: Billiards Burger, Housemade Pizza, Housemade Chili, delicious nachos, and the outstanding Moorhead Mac (mac & cheese, y'all). Everything ol' Cookie put together over the last few months has been very good quality and well worth the price. I suggest that y'all can't do wrong by stoppin' in at Moorhead Billiards & Rail. If you're checkin' the menu, make note that Moorhead Billiards & Rail tolerates your ducklings. They got a tiny kids' selection, but it's the fun stuff. No need to skip over MBR as a dining destination just cuz the whole crew ain't 21. Good to go! I gotta tell ya, though. This joint gets hoppin' on them evenings where they are shootin' pool. Lot's of mugs movin' around. So, you might have a little wait on your hands on tournament night. Have some love for your server, y'all, cuz they gotta have a gimmick to keep the lights on, right? I have had a couple long waits, fro time to time, but I know what's goin' down. I'm a reasonable dude, ok. Keepin' that in mind, throw an extra turtleskin or two at your wait staff. They gotta waltz in and outta these pool sticks that are comin' at 'em like Bruce Lee nunchucks. They gotta survive in the shop, they gotta survive out the shop. Be a hero and keep 'em in good shoes. Be awesome!

My wife and I stopped by Moorhead Billiards and Rail because we happened by. From the outside we didn't know what to expect. First impressions, maybe a dive bar. Parking is a little right and it's between two train tracks. When we walked in we were immediately impressed at how large the inside of the building is. There are tons of pool tables and dart boards here. I didn't see any quarter tables so I assume it's a pay as you play or by the hour type thing. We don't play pool so we made our way to the bar area. The whole place feels very comfortable. Good music playing and everyone seemed to be having fun. We both got a beer and had the nacho bomb appetizer. They were kind like taquitos stuffed with chicken. They were very good. The service here was really good and we had no issues. Will go back with a group next time.

Been here on two occasions late office X'mas party last week and a surprise birthday party for my husband this past summer. The X'mas party was the most fun I've had for our staff parties thus far. The food was plentiful, the drinks spot on and the selection on the jukebox was limitless. A good time for any size group! Both times were a lot of fun.

Been here a few times, once was a major holiday and was probably the only place open, i appreciated that! I always get good food, drinks are good, and atmosphere is nothing to complain about!

Wish I could agree with the other reviews. Old and new. Yes advertising tactics can be bothersome but some of us love a great coupon. The service has never been substandard especially since if I have an issue I politely mention it and 9 times out of 10 in any establishment the server makes a great effort. The wings are great. This Bison games being on in house rock. Not over crowded. Not over priced and the drinks are packed with a little punch. Have been to private events as well and never disappointed. Before you let the naggers take over the reviews never underestimate this place!

This is more in response to their advertising tactics than anything else. I have never entered the establishment, and as far as I know, it seems to be a good place to play a game of pool in Moorhead, MN (aside from the service), but that's not why I'm giving this place a 1-star rating. My wife and I exited another restaurant, and I discovered a flyer on the windshield of my car from The Rail Café. How tactless is that! Putting your business's flyer on a vehicle that's in the private parking lot of another restaurant? I could care less if it turns out that this place has amazing bar food! If this is how they choose to do business, then I doubt that they'll be open for much longer!

Good environment. The place is clean and spacious. Good food for a great price. Wings are 50 cents all the time. Food is fairly priced. I will keep going here. BUT, the Service leaves a lot to be desired. Last time I was there for three hours, and I was not once asked if I wanted a refill. The guy working was too busy shooting pool. The time before that, nobody asked if I wanted another drink. The lady was too busy at the bar with her friends. I just know that I will be thirsty the next time I'm there. Sad, because I really like this place. I would give it five stars if it wasn't for the absolute crap service.

Came in a for a beer with a friend. Sat at the tables. Waited twenty minutes to be served while staff gossiped behind the bar. Want a second beer. No servers! Had to go to the bar and wait for the bartender to finish washing glasses before she could pour me another beer. The time wasted i would have had a third. The place had few people so that was not the reason.

Nice atmosphere, lots of pool tables and dart boards. Didn't try the food but the drinks we had were just fine. The biggest hurdle this business has, and the reason for only 2 stars, is their horrendous service. Hands down the worst I've ever had. We waited 15 minutes for a waiter, and for our second round finally had to go to the bar. The bartender was too busy texting to serve us, so we moved down the bar. That bartender finished her dishes before serving us. Too bad, because Moorhead really needs a good place to hang out. We won't be back.
