I love the unique flavors Jeni’s has and wanted to try the Sage cheesecake before flavors changed. It was ok, but I have had other flavors I like better. But they are always fun to try!  The other flavor I had was white chocolate peppermint.

I was at a work conference in Columbus, Ohio and my co-worker said that Jeni’s is pretty famous for their ice cream. I love a nice sweet treat so we went (it was actually for my birthday!) and it’s a solid ice cream place. It wasn’t anything special but it wasn’t bad by any means. I think solid is a great way to describe it. From memory, a tad pricey, but, seemed like the kind of ice cream parlor that would be more on the expensive side. Glad I tried it but honestly nothing to truly write home about!

Unique flavors that somehow just work! We had had pints of Jeni’s from the grocery store but were thrilled for the opportunity to try ice cream from the scoop shop itself and we were not disappointed! We shared the ice cream flight which comes with 10 scoops of 10 different flavors and waffle cone pieces on the side. Each flavor was unique and offered something different. My favorite was the “everything bagel” which was a savory ice cream and very different from anything I’d had before. My wife’s favorite was the honey vanilla bean. All the ice creams were soft, creamy and not overly sweet. Some of the best ice cream we’ve had! Hope to see them open a shop in Kansas City someday!

Jeni’s is a Columbus institution and was one of the first places I dined when I was considering moving here and it may have been a significant factor in ultimately getting me to relocate here.

I love Jeni’s for its artistic sensibility, corporate responsibility, utilization of local products and being a certified b corp, but above all else the ice cream is really good.

My favorite flavor is the brown butter almond brittle, and the chocolate and peanut butter fleck, but honestly most all flavors are incredible (the only ones I don’t like are because of my own preferences I don’t think any that are constructed taste bad). They also have a line of dairy free flavors including chocolate sheet cake which I often get because it tastes so good!

I definitely recommend getting the homemade waffle cone or at least get a wedge of it!
