“Mixed Experience as a Club Lounge Member at The Ritz-Carlton”

As a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member, I had high expectations for my recent stay at The Ritz-Carlton, particularly as a Club Lounge member. While there were many positives to the experience, there were also some areas of concern that I believe could be improved upon.

Positives:
•	The staff at the Club Lounge were attentive and accommodating, especially regarding my dietary restrictions. Though vegan options were very limited in the lounge and the on-site restaurants, the chef and team went out of their way to make accommodations, which I truly appreciated. Their effort to provide personalized service did not go unnoticed.
•	The overall ambiance of the hotel was luxurious and welcoming, consistent with The Ritz-Carlton’s reputation.

Areas for Improvement:
1.	Cleanliness: Unfortunately, I noticed several issues with the cleanliness of the bathroom in my room. There was visible hair wrapped around the sink drain and another strand of hair on the towel rack. These details detracted from the otherwise pristine environment and were unexpected at a property of this caliber.
2.	Limited Vegan Options: While the staff’s effort to accommodate was commendable, I was surprised by the lack of readily available vegan options, especially considering the growing demand for plant-based dining. Expanding the menu offerings in the Club Lounge and restaurants to include a few standard vegan dishes would enhance the experience for guests with dietary restrictions.
I value the effort the team put into addressing my concerns during my stay, but I hope that improvements can be made to address these issues proactively. The Ritz-Carlton is known for exceptional service and attention to detail, and I trust that feedback like this will be used to enhance the guest experience.

Room was nice and clean. Bathroom was great with a nice wide tub and shower. We were celebrating our anniversary and hoped for some relaxation in the indoor pool but it felt like a kids water park. Very loud, crowded and very few places to sit. They have only 8 lounge chairs. We saw people come in with backpacks and their own towels which was weird and made it seem like they weren’t residents or hotel guests. The pool heater was also broken so the pool was cold during our stay. No one had told us this before arriving at check in. Overall would not return but we did enjoy the restaurant and bar on property. When I called from the room to ask the front desk if we needed reservations for brunch the guy on the phone said “no they are first come first serve and there is a 45 minute wait” so I got off the phone and checked OpenTable. They do have reservations and I made one then headed upstairs to be sat immediately. The service was poor and clearly staff are not well trained. This should be a 3 star hotel not 5.

Great property with an amazing rooftop club lounge. Mary Stockton who works in the club lounge really excels at hospitality! She went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcomed, lacked for nothing, and had great advice for restaurants in the area. She also makes amazing cocktails! Can’t wait for our next trip back to stay again. The hotel room was super quiet and with great blackout shades.

First time at the Portland Ritz today for brunch and it was wonderful! The atmosphere is great and the attention to detail was incredible! We celebrated my Mom’s birthday and our waiter David was a true joy!  He made our experience so special. The food was delicious as well. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We are already planning our next visit. 5 stars ⭐️

I spent more time on the phone trying to simply fix all the problems that the front desk caused when checking in. Clearly they lacked the competence to handle the simple task of checking me in on the existing reservation. Charged me multiple times for the same reservation and also created new ones during the process. I booked with chase edit which comes with extra perks when checking in at certain hotels. This front desk team had no clue what they were doing and missed all the perks entirely. Can't even blame it on them being busy because No other customers were even around. I guess I will just have to stay at one of the Portland Hilton's next time, At least they can manage to do the job correctly the first time. or if they mess up they fix the problem and go the extra mile because thats how it works in hospitality. Clearly this hotel still owes me for the headache they caused.
