# Harrisburg Beach Club – Riverside bar in Harrisburg, PA with great drinks and views

Harrisburg Beach Club, located at 700 Riverside Dr, Harrisburg, PA, is a unique riverside bar that occupies a converted 1920s bathhouse. A riverside bar in a converted 1920s bathhouse that was built when people used to swim in the river? Yes. A comfy place to wait for the nearby Harrisburg Senators' baseball game to start? Yes! A city owned but privately run entity that sells great drinks?! Yes!! Hilarious professional bartending staff and a raft of PA made liquors, in addition to a giant selection of canned and draft drink options, made this an excellent discovery as we waited for a game to start. Seriously considered skipping the game to stay here (glad I didn't - Senators won). Sitting under tented areas or in chairs along the shoreline, this wonderful place had music and then, later, a DJ. Made new friends and had cold drinks on a perfect September afternoon. I suspect the joint is seasonal, so check to see their hours, but by all means - get here, spend money, and keep this place in business.

Great to see this space being utilized. Food truck had good food. Great music playing. Friendly bartenders. Umbrellas. Nice view.

Today (July 4) was my second visit to HBC; the first was unimpressive but my companion persuaded me to give it another try. I had low hopes since our visit coincided with the city's food truck festival as well as a minor league baseball game. HBC has upped its game and improved staffing since my first visit. We were able to get drinks fairly quickly and sat in a couple of Adirondack chairs under a bit of shade and took in the view. HBC's location is both its strength and its limitation. The views of the river, Harrisburg, abd Wormleysburg are spectacular. However, HBC is at the north end of City Island and the nearest parking is a bit more than a 1/4 mile away to the south. Be prepared to walk! HBC operates a basic bar set uo with beer, wine, and mixed drinks available. Food is available through a food truck on site (which I have not tried). The atmosphere is great and I am cautiously optimistic that HBC has worked out the staffing/service problems I encountered on my first visit. Prices are about the same as most downtown Harrisburg bars.

I have been wanting to come here, and I was finally able to make it out. If you want to park close, it is VERY limited parking, so in the nicer months, it's probably better to walk up. We rented an igloo for 2 hours on a Saturday night. It was very cozy on the inside once the heat kicked on. You do not have service at your igloo, which would have been nice. However, you do have to go to the bar and get your drinks. My 1st drink, if it was my only drink, would have given me a bad review. However, I had several after that that made up for it. My 1st drink i got a smores martini as it was delicious for $12 bucks. I paid for almost more than half foam. I should have said something but didn't. The bartender was a super nice guy and did make excellent drinks except for the 1st one. The igloo, like I said, was very nice, and when done, they did have outside tables with fire pits to sit around, which was nice. They have a food truck with a small menu, we actually got the soft pretzel, and honestly OMG it was the best soft pretzel I ever had!! The lady deep-fried it, and it made it so crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I for sure want to return in the nicer months with my dogs because it is pet friendly.

This is a Relaxing place to take in a sunset while drinking a beer and/or a cocktail. The atmosphere is fantastic. Why didn't someone do this sooner in this corner gem of an area. Hidden Still truck was there but it was confusing. The counter/bar here is huge too. The have three igloos to sit in if it's raining or cold. Parking is neat to this bar too, but park in the parking lot or garage & walk over. This is on City Island behind volleyball courts. Next to golf course. They have food but didn't see a menu. We were confused cause there didn't seem to be a kitchen. There are plenty of bathrooms. Very clean place.

Harrisburg Beach Club was great stop on a nice sunny day during a bike ride on the Greenbelt! The outdoor seating overlooking the river, along with nice cold adult beverages made HBC a great pitstop on the ride. On this visit there was live music and the food truck was open for some snacks. A place like HBC has been needed in the Harrisburg area. We will return.

Kelly is an amazing bartender. We will be back. The place was packed and she held the whole crew.

My boyfriend and I love coming to the beach club for the drinks, views, and service especially when Kelly is serving drinks. She is friendly and super knowledgeable about what she is doing! We will be back very soon!

I was really hesitant to try the beach club because of the negative reviews. Is the aesthetic so so? Yes. Could there be some more theming? Sure. But it's still a cute place, the drinks are good and the sunset views are incredible. I don't ever find myself making a trip just for HBC but I have stopped by several times after a dinner downtown and really enjoyed it. I usually like to walk the city island loop and then stop at HBC before heading back home.

My wife and I went on a Friday night for a date night and reserved a dome. We were the only ones there that night. It was chilly and cold outside, unfortunately the dome was not warm. We paid $25 for a cold dome. The drinks were not that good and were served in plastic cups. They were made with a bunch of ice and little of the beverage. The only flavor you got was sugar and alcohol. No thought or finesse was put into the cocktail. Sorry, we did not see ourselves ever going back. Way too expensive for bad drinks and uncomfortable atmosphere.
