Walked here after a long day at Hershey park from our Airbnb, where it came highly recommended. Absolutely spot on. I'll preface: We didn't get food, but our server did a great job explaining the menu. I got an aperol margarita and it was absolutely delicious. Perfectly balanced. We didn't sit in the cute couch area but instead in view of the Phillies game, and you could tell right away this is just a fun, neighborhood style bar. I really liked when our server talked to us about the game and never once made us feel weird for just grabbing drinks

The mad moose is literally one of my favorite new places to hit in our city. The ambiance is like something out of cheers, everyone is friendly and even if you don't know someone you will get a smile. There are classic tables and chairs, but also cute little tables separate " nook" style. And long cozy couches in the middle if you want to just lounge. There is always good music playing, & the service is impeccable Sarah C. Is an absolute gem and I hope to have her each time I visit. Now, the foooooood! Ugh! The food, my boyfriend had a literally dream about their pizza no lie! It is served fresh and hot, ingredients are always fresh its top tier flavors with a bottom tier price which we love!! Everything I've had here has kept me coming back! If you're around be sure to stop at the moose.

On Monday, I visited Midtown Tavern, a place I used to frequent in my youth, only to have one of the worst experiences of my life. While sitting and listening to Tupac Shakur on my phone, I was confronted by the bartender and told to leave. When I asked if I was violating any policy, I was given no answer -- instead I was threatened with the police. At no point was I hostile or violent, yet I was accused of being "hostile." The situation escalated when patrons began to confront me aggressively, and staff allowed it to happen. When I asked management if I had violated any policy, they had no reply. When I asked why customers were permitted to approach me violently, again, no reply. The truth is, I was removed solely for listening to Tupac -- a clear example of how racism and gentrification operate in real time. What once was a bar rooted in community has become a space where Black culture and presence are policed, where playing hip-hop is treated as a threat, and where outsiders feel emboldened to gang up on someone for simply existing authentically. This wasn't just about music. It was about how certain people and cultures are no longer welcome in spaces they once called their own.

Dropped by for a drink and munchies after an afternoon of activities. We started with a Loaded Moose Knuckle appetizer. It was great. Also, PD had a cocktail and I had a beer. It was late afternoon, almost 5 PM. Our server, Adam was very friendly and accommodating. Then we ordered real food. PD had the Philly Cheesesteak. She said it was really good and fresh. I ordered a large Stromboli. Only after I had ordered it, did Adam start laughing at me. He contended I would never finish it. When he dropped it in front of me, It was obvious I had allowed my hunger to beat down my brains. I started into it. It was excellent. The bready parts and the cheese and the meat all were well balanced, especially if you liked a lot of cheese. The sauce it came with was also excellent. Although it was a marinara sauce, it was meaty enough that you would almost think it was a meat sauce. I made it halfway through, four pieces out of eight. PD had half of one piece so technically we ate more that half. Anyway, we enjoyed ourselves, we had some really good food and we discovered a great neighborhood bar/restaurant.

This was a typical bar right in downtown Harrisburg. We had a party of 15 and they were able to accommodate us. We called first to make a reservation. Our server Jamie was great. I ordered a creme brûlée martini and a small pizza with pepperoni and green peppers. Everything tasted great! It was sort of dark in there, so bring your readers if you need them. lol overall, this place was good!

Incredible food and service. My fish & chips was perfect and my husband's burger was delicious. The only thing I would say is that parking at this restaurant is really a pain - on street parking only in a crowded neighborhood. Definitely a great spot for dinner.

Mad Moose is a wonderful neighborhood tavern where they serve great pub fare-with Pool Tables-Dart Games-Arcade Games-Golf Games. Menu has a variety of delicious starters, salads, brick oven pizzas, hand heads, entrees and a couple of desserts. Servers Sara & Amanda take very good care of you-bringing Drinks from the bar - Variety of beer and liquor. Do go relax and enjoy. This crew at the Mad Moose run a smooth and comfortable Tavern.

To start, this place isn't good at all; the vibe is off. We waited for 15-20 minutes without anyone offering service. We were literally sitting there with nothing, not even water. When we asked the waitress, she said we could just grab drinks from the bar, while all the other tables were being served. We wanted to eat too, not just drink. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Wow. Adam Sturges (owner of the Sturges Speakeasy and McGrath's here in Harrisburg) has done it again. Mad Moose is a great modest makeover of the former Midtown Tavern. The new ownership successfully kept the Midtown's local vibe and quirks (like the unusual twol-level bar) but freshened the space and the menu. There's a selection of funky moose decor throughout the space; the pool tables and dart boards have nice areas of their own. I enjoyed the cheesesteak pizza which was excellent. There are about 16 beers on tap with a nice selection to suit most tastes. I sat at the bar and service was fast, friendly, and skilled. GREAT staff on the night I visited. Mad Moose is a worthy re-start of an already excellent local pub. The Midtown may be gone, but its essential character lives on. I highly recommend Mad Moose and look forward to many future visits.
