It was my dad's 86th birthday and all he wanted was to come to Tavern on the Hill for dinner. We had early reservations and when we arrived, we were greeted like family. The reserved table had been chosen with not only the size of our party considered, but also to accommodate two wheelchairs. Our server warmly greeted us and so our celebratory evening began. While my dad had a cocktail, I ordered a bottle of wine for the table. I have no problem (well, a little problem) with the markup of wine in a restaurant. The wine at the Tavern was exceptionally marked up. I ordered a 2014 Tempranillo. I do like a good Tempranillo. I was also intrigued by its $59 price. I thought I had found a hidden gem on the menu...I thought wrong. The bottle was presented to my husband who was across the table from me - it should have been presented to me since I ordered it. He was also not given a sommelier's taste, the wine was just poured for each of us. I'm not an absolute stickler about etiquette, but for such a high-end restaurant, this was out of place. I'm sure you are thinking that I just need to chill, and I'd normally agree with you, but we were not given the wine that I had ordered. Had it been properly poured, I would have noticed. It was nothing close to what I had ordered. It was the wrong varietal, wrong brand, wrong vintage, wrong country of origin. The only thing that was right was that it was a red. I knew that it didn't taste like what I had expected, but, without seeing the bottle, why would I ever expect to be served the completely wrong bottle of wine? Even Olive Garden gets it right. This should never have happened at the Tavern. I don't know what I expected from the server when I brought it to her attention. I didn't expect to be brushed off. The whole thing was just completely unacceptable. At least it had a similar price. As for the food, it was ok - nobody had anything that was really "wow". My husband and I shared the flambéed Greek cheese. It was blah and even the presentation was just meh. My dad's steak was tough as was my veal. My husband said his swordfish was cooked perfectly but had no flavor, even with its topping of shrimp. There was absolutely no effort given to the plating of any of the food. There was not enough bread served for everyone at the table and no effort was made to replenish it. The butter was a handful of individual packets strewn on the bread plate. Again, plating. The serving sizes were large - we all had lunch the next day. I didn't bring in the cake that I bought. We all decided that paying a plating charge that was over half of the cost of the cake was ridiculous. We ate it at home. My dad's special dinner was $600 for the 6 of us. If things had been on point, I wouldn't have batted my eyes (too much), but dinner was far from on point. My dad was happy that he got to spend time with his family and I'm blessed that I was able to share this day with him. But, I'm also disappointed that the Tavern on the Hill did not deliver. At all. I won't be back.

Haven't been here in awhile and the better half decided this would be great BD Dinner! She started with Shrimp Cocktail (4 Jumbos) and for her main she ordered the Grilled King Salmon Roasted Mushrooms, Sundried Tomato, fresh herb-seasoned Crème Fraiche and Truffle Vinaigrette & Broccoli (veg. of the day) I decided on the Yellow Fin Tuna Steak The Tavern's Recipe, served with a Wasabi Sauce as a side I paired it with the rice pilaf! Both dinners came with a salad and 1 side Christine our server very warm and pleasant (you can tell the experience servers) Highly recommend asking for her! For desert the wife ordered a Tres Leche slice of cake and I ordered the Devils Food with Chocolate & Vanilla Mouse Tavern on the hill provides a very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for your dining enjoyment. We'll be returning again.

Meh! The food was good. The service was great. But the ambiance was not there. The menu was a sheet of paper. Not in a folios or even laminated. Just a plain white sheet of paper. They don't have a drink menu. The drinks we asked for mojitos they don't make in the winter. We asked what they have and again were told they can make anything... except margaritas or mojitos. The bread was 2 slices of the local grocery store bread. The butter was mismatched pads of butter so cold you couldn't spread it. The steak was good and done to perfection, but the salad was bagged salad from the local grocery store with one slice of tomato on top and some over seasoned old bread crusts. The roasted vegetables were cooked to mush, so better to eat with a spoon. The baklava cheese cake was delicious, but again the baklava was frozen and the cheese cake was thawed. It was great presentation but poor execution. I wouldn't go back but I did it for the experience. 3 out of 5 service was great!

A few things. This is a fine dining restaurant. Don't order your steak well done. No. There isn't any salt on the table; your food is seasoned perfectly. Ok. The ambiance; maybe not ultra modern, but it's classic and tasteful. Now the food; we had blackened tenderloins in a red pepper sauce; extremely tender and tasty. As far the entrees; I had Sauteed Pamplona with lump crab in a lemon sauce that was spectacular. My wife had the crab cake. Again, spectacular. My salad was a Caesar with a homemade dressing that had just enough garlic. Our server was attentive and pleasant. This was not a cheap dinner but an extraordinary dining experience. We'll be back.

Been here before and have been disappointed but thought we would try it again for Mother's Day. Well, unfortunately we were disappointed again. My wife's chicken dish was good, but my seafood chemise was not as advertised. It was advertised as "crab and lobster chemise", but it was simply stuffed with various seafoods and little crab and lobster. The drinks were very expensive, with my simple orange crush at $15.00. When we got our bill, it had a $4 charge for a salad which was included with the meal. I think this place is unethical and we will not be back!

We had a great dinner in Enola on ourvway back from Philadelphia. We have been traveling through Enola for year and never realized that there is an excellent dinner restaurant up the hill from the main road. We v had appetizers (fresh sautéed mussels and Saltmbaca Flambe), salads (house salads with Ceasar dressing and a tomato and mozzarella salad), and two entrées (pork chops with pureed potatoes and lobster tails with rice pilaf). I took home a slice of a Greek filo cheesecake to have four lunch with one of the two lobster tails that I didn't eat this evening. Thevtwo waiters that served c is c were friendly and quite conversational. We'll be back again.

Tavern On The Hill is old school fine dining: linen tablecloths, attentive service, and a great wine list. The menu here also leans old school, emphasizing meat and seafood classics like steaks, lobster, oysters Rockefeller, shrimp cocktail. The food and service are both excellent. This is a great spot for a special night out On my last visit, we were especially pleased to be seated in what appears to be a new, covered patio area. The space was nicely heated despite February temperatures and looks promising for more casual summer meals, appetizers, and drinks. It's actually in the back portion of the property and not too visible from the exterior--but it is most definitely there and quite charming. Pandemic prevention measures were solid with plenty of distance between tables, mask wearing, and sanitizing between guests.

My wife and I have visited this restaurant once a month for years. The Harrisburg Area does not have a lot of fine dining. We have put up with the over priced out dated menu for the last time. I called for reservations as usual, told them who I was and we always dine in the bar area. I told them 3 for the bar area and had him read back to me the reservation so no mistake was made. When we arrived they told us it's really busy and we had to dine in a small room that had a party of 30 at a table. It was a very special night for us, and I was very disappointed. Had I know when we made the reservation we would had gone to another place. my wife and I will never go back, and obviously they don't care.
