My family have been ordering from Uncle Joe's for years! A true hidden gem in the neighborhood. Everything is cooked to perfection and the crabs are always fresh!

This place was highly recommended by a fellow foodie.... I was not impressed. It smells, it's disorganized and it's overpriced. I went with what was recommended to me ... sautéed crabs. The crabs I ordered were $9 each (but they have smaller less expensive options) , I ordered 6 and when asked if I wanted them mild or hot , I chose mild. It's basically a cleaned crab slathered in a garlic flavored butter substitute . It was messy, oily and I didn't feel well after eating 2 crabs. My husband ordered a fried platter, it included whiting, chicken wings a crab cake and fries. The fish and chicken were overly breaded. The chicken was unnaturally large and because of the heavy breading the chicken was not cooked properly, it was raw near the bone. I didn't dare try the crab cake but the fries were ok. I will not hold this against my girlfriend because she usually gives great recommendations but this was a no go for me

I tried to patronize this business, but I walked in and the rotten fish smell overwhelmed me. The lighting was dim. I couldn't find a menu anywhere, but I saw takeout containers behind the cash register. And to top it off, neither one of the two employees bothered to speak to me or try to help me. I stepped outside and checked the restaurant reviews and decided to go elsewhere.

I wish I had read the reviews prior to buying crabs from here. I was on this side of town and decided to stop in for crabs. The bushels were in the casings all marked with different sizes and prices. So the bushels had just enough crabs in them like 4 or 5 so you could see the size of what your crab would look like. So I asked if they had more because of course I couldn't make a dozen out of 4 or 5 crabs, but I think the were like that purposely so they could get your crabs out of the back. If you order from here ask to see your crabs before they are cooked. I ordered the XL crabs and I'm pretty sure all of my crabs were SMALL. I paid 50.00 for a dozen of small crabs, Never Again will I order from here again.

I left work around 9 o'clock and went to Uncle Joe's Crab house on Baltimore avenue in East Lansdowne and ordered $40 worth of crabs. After eating two of them I discovered that the others smelled like ammonia and were coated in slime. After doing a google search I read that those were the qualities of expired crabs. As disappointed as I was I had to stop eating them and close them up for return in the morning, anyone who knows me knows how much I love seafood so you know this was a hard pill to swallow. I woke up this morning with the intention of returning them before the store became overly crowded. I did not want to cause unnecessary attention because I do frequently buy my crabs from there and have never experienced this. I was met with nasty customer service and wasted 30 minutes of my day, time and even my gas. First a man came over and opened the container, begin breaking and sniffing the crabs , as if I had any reason to lie and inconvenience myself. He could clearly tell they were not eaten. He then stated that because they were broken in half they were not able to place them on display in exchange for new crabs. I let him know that an exchange would not be acceptable because they were rotten. He then went and got a woman who came over and picked up where he left off stating the same stupid bullshit. Needless to say only half of what I couldn't eat was replaced , but they commenced to argue with me distributing poor accountability , which is clearly disappointing for a regular customer. Ultimately it was resolved however I will NEVER purchase anything from there again and I am advising everyone else to beware ! I don't know what has me more upset and in disbelief, the fact that they were willing to place them on display despite them being spoiled or that they were so hell bent on not refunding me my money or simply fixing their mistake. Just making everyone aware.
