We tried to go to the brewery next door, but they were super busy and we stood by the door for almost 5 minutes without even being acknowledged by any staff members, so we left. Since all we wanted was beer, we went around the corner to The Cannery. Drafts were about $6, which was decently priced and all the beers we tried were very tasty. I went with the Jib the Blood, a blood orange Berliner which was perfect for the warm, sunny day. My cousin tried the double IPA and loved it. For our second round, I opted for the Russian Imperial, which I was really impressed by. It didn't have that typical cloying bitterness of some imperial stouts, and I found it super easy to drink (although be warned it comes in a really tiny glass since it's such a high ABV). My cousin got their normal IPA and was very happy. They have some food on the menu, and since my cousin is a vegan, she was super pumped for the pretzels with vegan cheese. We were expecting soft pretzels, but these are more like regular hard pretzel twists you get at the grocery store. They were also extremely oversalted, so we had to scrape a lot of the salt off before eating them. The vegan cheese sauce was on the cold side, and was ok, but nothing mind blowing. The bathroom was super clean and spacious, and the space inside the brewery was comfortable and trendy. They also looked like they had liquor, so they could make mixed drinks as well, but we opted to stick with beer. For food, I'd give them closer to 2 stars for what you get vs the price, but for beer and atmosphere, they're definitely 5 stars.

Things I like: - Beer - Beer cocktails - Cocktails - Hybrid open air seating - Not super effing busy - Wood paneling - Random kitsch - Ninjas - Vinyl tunes that run the gamut from 80s to 2010s homage to the 80s Dock Street Cannery has a lot of these things. I won't say which ones, but I think you know what doesn't belong. That's right. Hybrid open air seating. What does that even mean? To get back to my point, this is a low-key place you can bring a friend, a date, two friends and a date, an awkward date because of your two friends, a fun drunken time with two friends, and then move it across the street to the Barn because you're a total pro. Seriously. This is a very nice spot to chill, listen to some tunes, catch up, and drink a few beers and related cocktails. And, because Dock Street loves you, they also have four and six packs of tall boy and regular boy cans for takeout, at very competitive per oz prices. Keep on doing your ninja thing, Dock Street Cannery.

I just got into Philly and was in need of a beer or drink. This was conveniently up the street from my stay. We walked up the street and beyond the garage style door was a modern bar. Clean, open and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We ordered some drinks, the service was good, atmosphere was calm. We sat near the outside on some stools at a whiskey barrel and enjoyed our cocktails. I wish this place had better hours. The next few nights of our stay we wanted to pop in but they were closed.

This is a cool place. It's tucked away and cozy and has big personality. If I were to rate on drinks and esthetics it would definitely be a four star review. The bartender was super conscientious and took great care with the way she crafted the cocktails. Each drink was delicious and balanced. They have a small snack menu which is fine but next time I will skip the snacks. The cheese board was just okay. The crostini was a little over toasted and the pickled cabbage was a bit tasteless. The mushroom plate was really lacking. The mushrooms were marinated in vinegar and really, that's all I could taste. The mushroom taste was gone. It also started getting really crowded and it appears the primary age is twenty-something to early thirties. In other words, we weren't their target audience. I'd go back on a summer day early in the evening for cocktails before it got crowded, then I'd go somewhere else to have a bite.

I had the opportunity to come out here recently and try several cocktails. The space is around the corner from the brewery, and it is a really nice little space. The cocktails are super delicious, and most of them include some sort of Dock St beer which is a cool addition. Ask them to make you "The Charlotte" - which is a twist on a cosmo with beet liqueur. I also highly recommend the Koopa Trooper Smash, which is a take on a dark and stormy. Can't wait to come back out here! Stop by, you won't regret it!

We have wanted to go here for months because we already love the brewery and pizza next door and had heard great things about the cocktails. Sadly, although the menu is interesting and ambitious, the cocktails did not live up to the hype or the quality of the beer Dock Street serves. One of our cocktails was pre-mixed and poured out of a jar. It tasted overly sweet and not well-balanced. The other cocktail was somehow both too sweet and too bitter. It was made with one of those snack-sized orange juices that they serve in hotel conferences. For $9, you should juice some actual oranges. Super disappointing drinks, but cool space and nice staff--just order a beer and steer clear of the cocktails.

An offshoot of the brewery and pizza place around the corner, the Dock Street Cannery and Tasting Room opened recently to great fanfare. It was plugged on Billy Penn and philly.com. So we decided to check it out. The space is airier and brighter than its older sibling; the decor is industrial, and seating is limited to a bar, a mid-century modern sofa and chair, and a small table with short stools. This may change as the space gets filled out. The cocktails are reasonably priced and pretty good. I tried their take on the Old-Fashioned, which was quite boozy. I also tried the Dock and Stormy, their take on the Dark and Stormy. Many of the cocktails use beer as an ingredient, which some may like, and some may dislike. The one disappointment was the food. For the portion sizes I saw, the prices were expensive. We sampled the vegan pretzel sticks with cheese. They were not worth the $6 we paid. The pretzels were cold; there weren't that many of them; and the cheese dip was slimy. I hope that the food offerings improve, or else the place focuses on the business of serving drinks.
