Awesome new pizza place. The kale Caesar is a perfect starter, super fresh and flavorful with lots of parm and breadcrumbs. The pizza is pretty close to perfect. Crust is super light and fluffy but perfectly crispy. The vodka sauce pie was delicious with some added pepperoni and the special the Drunken shroom was a great white pie. Finished off the meal with some pistachio and cream soft serve topped with a little olive oil. Amazing meal, awesome service from the owner and staff. Can’t wait to go back.

I feel like the only thing I need to tell you is to come here and eat your crust. I'm a serial crust non-eater and here I slammed a whole pie.

It was earlier on a Friday that I showed up with my partner. It was his birthday weekend and I wanted to start off with something special and boy did I happen to choose correctly. We walked in and sat at the counter, and grabbed some water and napkins. We ordered our pies and began chitchatting with the person next to us and the folks behind the counter. What a lovely group of people, and let me tell ya the views from the counter are worth fighting over

After some great chat and some funny jokes our pies came out and they were GORGEOUS. Perfectly browned, bubbly, cheesy, fatty, and they tasted as incredible as they looked. The flavors were so well balanced on the special drunken shroom, and the pepperoni is now my new favorite pepperoni. We were offered a slice of tomato pie and I did say I liked anchovies and ended up with some on top. We closed dinner with the pistachio and sweet cream swirl.

All in all: come sit at the counter, order the special, make friends, feel special, even if the day isn't that special. This place and these folks will make you feel at home.

I had such an amazing experience at Char last night! Perhaps my favorite pizza experience in the city to date. The Pumpkin Pie special was soooo interesting and balanced and sweetly seasonal. We thought we were choosing something “lame” when ordering the Vodka Sauce pie - it was anything but. The sauce was the star of the show and so so special with a perfect heat level. We knew they were just rolling out counter service and expected a wait, but we had no problem sitting down and enjoying our bottle of wine while we waited for our food. Staff was very apologetic and kind. I will definitely be back and be recommending to everyone! :)
Editing to add: we couldn’t wait more than 2 hours to eat our leftovers, which reheated PERFECTLY on a hot pan with olive oil for a bit to crisp the bottom, adding a splash of water, and then a lid to steam the top for a little.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing New Pizza Spot in New Kensington- CHAR

I recently tried out CHAR in New Kensington, and I have to say, it’s already one of my favorite spots!

The pizza here is out of this world—perfectly crispy crust with the right balance of chewy and crunchy, and the toppings are fresh and full of flavor. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Fun Guy, Vodka Sauce, and Pepperoni with hot honey were my favorites.  Also, DO NOT miss out on the cardamon-coffee swirl ice-cream.

The atmosphere is modern comfortable vibe that makes it a great place to hang out with friends or family.

If you’re looking for delicious, handcrafted pizza, you need to check out CHAR. It’s a fantastic addition to the neighborhood, and I can’t wait to come back for more!

I would kidnap Viraj and trap him in my basement if I had a basement so he could make me pizzas for every meal. This is hands down the best pizza in all of Philadelphia. Better than Angelos, better than Tacconelli's. Every item on the menu is a banger. The Kale Caesar salad has croutons with the same consistency as the parmesan cheese and makes for a blissful bite. The pizzas are cooked to perfection. The vodka sauce is something I wish I could bathe in. The funguy has a perfect blend of sweet and salty. The margherita is a classic hit. The rossa (a special) had me skeptical with the pistachio base, but that was easily my favorite. The cardamom coffee twist soft serve (which I think is an exclusive from 1-900) with a ParleG cookie was a divine party of flavors for my mouth. I would come here daily if I could. Absolutely a 20/10!!!
