Soooo good. Stopped in for lunch and got mofongo cups - soft, crunchy, delicious. I asked for salt, and that brought out all of the flavors. So satisfied. Really friendly staff too, very welcoming to a newcomer. It is a great place for gluten free food, and they were good at conversing at what is safe, what might have cross contamination.

I was sold at vegan Puerto Rican food. Admittedly, I'm not vegan, but have a dairy allergy so it's nice to enjoy foods knowing that I can safely consume everything at any given restaurant. I had the platter with "chicken" bbq skewers and it was delicious. The winner was the rice. It had the perfect flavor and texture. The service was friendly. They took their time explaining how the food was made to my friend who was not familiar with the cuisine. I will definitely be back soon!

I was so excited to try Puerto Rican food for the first time! I highly recommend trying the Pincho BBQ "chicken" sampler platter if you can. It comes with a really nice assortment of yummy food - yellow rice, salad greens, perfectly fried plantains, and some really excellent vegan chicken on two skewers. It's a super cute place - so bright and cheerful and fairly easy to get to. We found parking easily and it's also a quick walk to the El. The owner was really nice and the food came out really quickly even though there were a ton of people there that day.

Amazingly flavorful food across the board. I am also a meat-eater, but if all vegan cuisine had this much going for it I'd be a full-on convert. Skewers were wonderful, along with the rice, plantains, and even the salad, served along side of everything in a delivery container, was fresh and vibrant. The pasteles were also incredible. I had this as delivery, so I imagine that it must be even better sitting down there, which I'll be doing ASAP.

I typically don't like vegan food but I heard really good things about this place, so my wife and I went a got the yuca fries, pastelilos, and the rice. 10/10! The food takes us right back to Puerto Rico which is our favorite place to vacation. The service was amazing, the cashier was so nice and helpful. Absolutely love that they have a pride flag! Can't wait to go back!

I will start by saying I'm not vegan and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't even miss the meat. The flavor is authentic, the portions and prices are reasonable, the vibe is inviting, colorful, cultural, and clean. We met the owner and the staff, they were super friendly. They're still trying out new things (hours & menu items), I would 10/10 recommend for a casual bite or quick breakfast. We had the sampler menu, with papas rellenas, and coquito tres leches cake, with sodas on the side. I definitely see it becoming a staple in this area.

It was my first time going to this restaurant. My daughter placed the order online through Uber Eats. The app said the order was ready, we arrived and we were told the rice wasn't ready and we needed to wait 30 minutes. Keep in mind, this is after we were notified it was ready. My daughter had to leave so I waited for the order. In the meantime, I ordered an empanada and some Yuca fries. You didn't give me an empanada in my order, I'm not sure what was in the box, I threw it out when I realized you didn't put in the empanada I ordered. I waited 45 minutes for the rice to get ready. I was called to pick up my order and I specifically asked the Middle Aged Black Man that was working behind the counter, "is the rice in the order?" He assured me it was and showed me the two boxes that had the rice. He was LYING! He LIED to my face. I got home and not only didn't I have the rice that I waited 45 minutes for but several parts of my order were not included. My daughter called the place when we realized the order didn't include the rice and two other items. The same Middle Aged Black Man lied and said there was a miscommunication and he thought we were substituted the rice for plantains. A complete LIE! If you place an order at this place, CHECK your order BEFORE you leave. I sure wish I HAD!! IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER- For the record, I didn't berate an employee on the phone----that is another unfortunate LIE. I guess stating in your response to my post that, "I was inappropriate and berated the staff on the phone," is an attempt by you to discredit this review. I think customers are smarter than you think. Truthfully, in my review of the restaurant, I was only cautioning patrons of Casa Barinqueno to check their take out order bag(s) before leaving the restaurant to ensure that they get the food they ordered and paid for. While in the restaurant -- You gave me the bag with my order in it. I specifically asked you, "Is the rice in the order?" I asked about the rice because I had already waited 45 minutes for it. You said, "Yes." I said to you, "Are you sure?" That is when, you pointed to TWO of the brown containers inside the bag and said, "Yes this is the rice." On the phone-- when we called to complain about the order-- I said, "You LIED to my face when you told me that the rice was in the order you gave me. I specifically asked you about the rice." Your response on the phone to me, "There was a miscommunication and I thought that you said you wanted to substitute the rice for plantains." A LIE My response, on the phone to you, "I had waited nearly 45 minutes for the rice and I NEVER asked for a substitute." FOR THE RECORD: I have no reason to lie about this incident. I never said anything inappropriate to the staff on the phone. I was lied to and misled. And the review of this place was just a caution to other patrons to check their orders before leaving the restaurant. I sure wish I had!!!! I will never recommend this place or come to it again.

Drove from Jersey straight to Philly to try this place and it did not disappoint!! Sooo amazing the vibes and food were so good & very awesome family experience for us and will def be visiting again! Thank you so much for this amazing experience!
