Finally visited Honeysuckle. They recently moved from West Philly to their new location which is more centrally located. This place also won a James beard award which is pretty impressive. The place has African inspired foods that combined both a Caribbean and American theme to it. They have a menu of cocktails and beer and a prix fixe menu. They have fermented beer they make in house which is probably one of the best beers I have had in a while. Hands down, this place has great customer service. They had remembered I was bring my daughter so they brought out a high chair at the table we were sitting at even before we arrived. They walked us through every component of the prix fixed menu. They cleaned the table/ reorganized the table between each dish. The first course included the pippin pepper prawns. This was delicious. It did have the face attached which I didn't really enjoy opening up. Overall, the food was fancy and parts of the plates were amazing. Their customer service was incredible. I really, really loved their homemade fermented beers. I didn't like how long we had to wait between dishes. We were not expecting the food to take so long to come out.

Beautifully decorated with lots of space, you enter the lounge and bar area with many big couches and chairs and even window seating to watch Broad St. The main dining area is further in the back. Everyone was extra welcoming and kind, and the atmosphere is quite lovely. Prix fixe four courses, and a few extra from the kitchen as well. Went for the calas fritter, dombrey agnolotti, fried catfish, and the Bon Bon siwo dessert. The flavors and presentation were all very unique and a great experience. The catfish piece was huge and fried skillfully, crisp outside and perfectly flaky. Turnip tartar and chili sauce great. Extra courses were a fried chicken of the woods mushroom, an oyster, home brewed peach wine, and a bread plate (rock)! All very tasty and showcased more of the unique flavors and skillful work by the chefs. Just a great spot with interesting drinks and food as well. Definitely want to try more from their kitchen, thanks.

Overall my experience at honeysuckle was ok. The food was unique, beautifully plated, and (with the exception of one dish) seasoned well. When you reserve a table, you are warned you have 90 mins for your reservation. The restaurant offers a prefixe menu so we were not worried. The service was so slow the night we came that we spent roughly 2.5 hrs at our table. Thank goodness we did not have plans for after dinner. Sometimes our table would go unchecked for long stretches and we saw our server working the bar at one point so perhaps they were short staffed that night. At one time the hostess came over to ask our experience and I tried not to let my hanger show but I hear I have a terrible poker face so the service picked up slightly after that but it was still a snails pace in my opinion. They were kind to comp our first round of beverages for the wait however. It was unfortunate because the service was kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu but honestly such a long wait time has caused me to think twice about returning. The ambiance is a lounge/bar vibe in the front and dining room in the back. although I didn't understand the display in the middle of the main dining room (table with clay jars?). Food rating as below: Starter bread 5/5 delicious, wish it was bigger, best butter I ever had Black eyed pea hummus 4/5 tasty and a large plate with tempura and fresh veg for a starter. I was impressed with the consistency of this dish Black Caesar 4/5 a little too heavy on the dressing for me as it was very rich but I liked their play on a classic salad McDonald's money burger (add on course to prefixe) 5/5 delicious milk bread bun and rich caviar sauce didn't taste the truffles much but still a worthwhile add on as I would have left not full without this add on Seafood Alfredo 3/5 unfortunately, way too salty for me (and I'm a salt fiend!) I think it could have used some acidity to cut the heaviness of the sauce and reduce the need for salt the lobster and scallops were cooked perfectly. Sweet potato entree 2/5 too smoky

Honeysuckle sucked me in and honey, I was so thrilled. Every plate and piece of art is intentional and special and the food is delicious. I had loved the untitled dinner at their old spot, a tiny grocery, and was so excited to see what they did with a bigger space. The vibe was warm, inviting, but extremely hip and fun. The menu is creative and every dish was wonderful. We got the tasting menu (4 courses for $95) and got to try most of the menu with 4 of us. Really enjoyed the oysters, hush puppies, and chicken. Loved the champagne poured over sorbet for dessert. Great for a celebration, date night, or girls night.

Honeysuckle is definitely an experience. An expensive experience. It's directly across from SOUTH, but not much is around there. The food was a little underwhelming. The curated cocktails were the highlight of the dinner. You definitely need to get The Harder They Fall. It is amazing. The seafood Alfredo dish was the low point of my meal, it was way too much lemon juice in the dish. I appreciate the effort, but it's a smidge pretentious. I would ABSOLUTELY go back for the drinks alone, but the rest I would pass on.

We had a wonderful birthday dinner at Honeysuckle! Six diners were able to try the entire prix-fixe menu family style, which we enjoyed in addition to two add-ons and the complimentary bread-on-a-rock. Service was attentive and we enjoyed sharing an 8-top table with two couples over the course of the evening (we guessed the first were on a first date--zero sharing across plates), as the table was quite spacious and the room echo-y enough so as not to be able to overhear their conversations. First course: the Oysters (passionfruit mignonette, hot sauce) took the prize. I'm not a huge oyster fan, but the mignonette + hot sauce made this dish special. The Akra (plantain, cassava, scallop, lalo) and Devils (egg, crab, chives, scotch bonnet) were tasty--the latter were barely spicy. Second course: the Daily Harvest (black eyed pea spread, vegetables, seeded crackers) took the prize. Those crackers were something special. The Black Caesar (smoked herring, parmesan, breadcrumbs) and $pay4haiti (Haitian spaghetti, chestnut flour, West African Xo, crawfish, boudin, cured egg yolk) were delicious. Third course: the Epis Roasted Chicken (grilled collards, candied lemon, charred leek aioli) took the prize by a hair. The chicken was moist and tender and the collards were terrific. The Djon Djon (Haitian mushroom, maitake, English peas, sugar snap peas, basmati), the Barbecue Sweet Potato (sorghum, cashews, dates, caraway), the Fush (fluke, mojo, scallop foam, olives, brazil nuts), and the side of stewed greens and lemony potatoes were all yummy. Fourth course: we tried the Haitian Chocolate Tarte (chocolate custard, spiced port, pomegranate gelee) and the Benne Sundae (poached rhubarb, benne miso ice cream, tonka beans, rum caramel), both of which were good. Many were surprised to find they really enjoyed the benne miso ice cream--not as savory as we feared. We added on two specials: steak and the McDonald's Money--the latter was better, though I'm not sure that the gold leaf added anything in particular other than cost. Beverage-wise, the favorite alcoholic was the Rivers to Babylon (traditional Jamaican rum, overproof Jamaican rum, lime, house ginger beer, allspice) and the favorite zeroproof was the MZ. Shirley (lemon-lime soda, seasonal syrup, luxardo cherries). Overall, definitely recommend a visit!

I went to Honeysuckle a week post opening in the new location. It was for a date night with my partner and we were excited about trying out the new creative and upscale menu. The interior of the restaurant is very open and minimal in design. Nods to African American heritage and Black art work hang on the walls and in the spaces. We didn't have much of a wait as we made a reservation, but noticed the bar menu is a la carte while the dinner menu is set pre-fixe pricing. We sat on the back wall and it was pretty close quarters to the next table. There's a large art installation that takes up a lot of the 'dining seating area's. We placed our orders and awaited for the experience to begin. The staff were all very nice and still getting used to the dishes. And there were definitely long wait times in between our courses as the kitchen was getting used to the volume. Overall, I want to return in a few months and give it another try. The taste of the food was great and presentation was unique. Some of the nod to traditional African dispora dishes were a little far out for me, but I hope it improves with time. Give them a try and have a little patience, I think it's going to be a really good spot.

So we loved untitled and were really excited to come visit the new space. First off it is gorgeous. Loved the decor and how it felt like they wanted you to lounge a while. One thing I will say is their tables with couch seating are waaay too low for anyone getting real food. The table was below my boyfriend's knees when we sat down and me being in a low cut top, I asked to move to the bar and they were happy to oblige. I would reconsider using that space for meals, but definitely a nice spot to lounge if you just wanted to do cocktails. We came for the price fixed menu and it's a lot of food. Plus so fun coming here as three people because we essentially got to try everything on the menu except one dish (which I will return for, but I was with sweet potato haters so I got overruled). The oysters were incredible and the Akra was like nothing I've ever eaten before. That might have been my favorite bite of the day. The black eyed pea spread was also delicious and very hummus-coded but unique in its own right. The candied lemon with chicken was another top contender of my favorite bite. But dessert was a showstopper. The cake was my least favorite, but the chocolate tarte and ice cream sundae with a thin sesame seed cookie OMGGG. The cocktails were also lovely and it was just the best time. The staff are so knowledgeable and you can tell they love what they do. I will have to try the burger but I think the price is a bit high. It definitely is a looker though, and caught my attention as I saw people ordering. Really love the new spot!

Excellent, a place to try ethnic mixed cuisine, also if you like pre fixed menus. For 4 courses, you get a good sized portion each order, can share and taste the other person's dish, $95. The only way to order a la carte is sitting at the bar. The service was very attentive. Chef explained items as they come out. Very rustic ambiance, nice relaxing place and not too noisy to have a meal. Great!!
