Me and my mom came around 2:00 for lunch because we were hungry and we were around the area. The restaurant is practically empty, besides another table of 3. We both ordered our food once we sat down, and the menu looked extremely appetizing. But, it's now 2:35 and the food has not arrived yet. I came here thinking that since it wasn't too busy that the food would come out quickly because I have other things to do, but it's been well over a half hour and the food hasn't been served. I asked the waiter how much longer the food would be out, and she said hold on and went to ask. She came back and said its on its way out but it's been 5-7 minutes since the food was "on its way out" definitely would much rather grab something quick rather than wait almost 30 minutes for food!! Update: another table of 2 came in maybe 20 minutes of us being here and their food came out before us. Unacceptable!!

I've ordered catering food from this place before and this last time was probably the last. The payaya salad tray, among others I ordered, was so poorly prepared. The strings were as thick as a spaghetti string and the "kho bo" was rock hard, and they charged $45 for a small tray. Not happy.

tried their dim sum when they first had it and it was a mess. The place is now updated, nice, and clean on the inside. Recently went there and had dim sum and it was way better than before but still not that great. We ordered shrimp balls and they tasted sour. we told one of the dim sum ladies and she brought us fried minced pork wrapped in gacom, which was pretty great. Went there the other day to try out their other Vietnamese food and.. man it was pretty terrible. went around lunch and it wasn't very busy. I ordered a Pho Dac Biet aka house special Pho which is supposed to have meatballs, steak, brisket, flank, and tripe. My mom wanted to order a rice dish but we were told that they served all the rice already and they would need to make more which would be a 30 minute wait. Meanwhile other people were still being served white rice even after we ordered. My mom got a seafood soup, which came out almost 15 minutes after my food did. They didn't give me the deluxe pho... I got the steak and meatball one.. mind you the guy never wrote our order down but did repeat it to us. when asked why it was wrong the guy said.. it was a computer glitch.. it doesn't always send it back to the cooks. Both of our soups were unbearably sweet. they were awful. I will never buy regular Viet food from here again. Maybe dim sum, but nothing else.

I have to say that I know nothing about Dim Sum. I only had it once years ago in Chinatown. Today I was shopping at Ben City Asian Grocery on Whitaker Ave and it was well after lunch time. Next to the store I saw a large white sign "Hong Phat, Dim Sum." "Grand Opening." Always one to try something new I thought "why not?" The manager greeted me at the door and gave me a table alone. His English, by the way, was flawless. He asked what kind of tea I would like and I requested a simple Jasmine. Within seconds the Dim Sum cart lady was at my table. Inside that cart one wonder hid between another in several rows of silver pots. I had no idea what I was doing. I chose three dishes, one with mini-eggplant, one of tiny pork bones and one that looked like rolled cabbage leaves. Aside for the recognizable chicken feet I have no idea of what the other things were. Now came the tricky part. The cart lady's English was not so clear, It seemed she was telling me that there was a choice of either fried spring rolls or what I later learned from watching other tables, some kind of dumpling roll, I went with the sure thing, the spring rolls. I can only say that the experience was a sensual delight. Each dish had a velvety feel enhanced by something of a slight hint of sweet, Looking around the fully packed restaurant I saw that I was the only European. This place must be doing something right to have such a local following. Dim Sum is priced by the dish. I must say that it was a bit more expensive than regular Vietnamese dishes. My three selections came to $19 including tip. I must also note that this restaurant has the latest in credit card aps. It calculates whatever tip you would like to leave. I'm the first to write about Hong Phat but I am sure I won't be the last.

First time I've been to this place and most likely my last. I came in during lunch time for the dim sum. Service was pretty good provided by the waitress and manager. The dim sum was decent, nothing more. However, the owner himself (an elderly man) was very rude when I was simply asking some simple questions about his business. I also noticed that the store did not have any permits or licenses displayed. So I have no idea what's going on with that. After I finished my meal, a young man came in to deliver some goods for the store and was harshly kicked out by the same owner. On top of that the owner was cursing at the young delivery man inside of his store as well as chasing after the delivery man and throwing the goods back at him, while continuing his cursing. To me the food was decent but this type of unpleasant atmosphere created by the owner himself is something that will deter me from returning with my friends and family.
