The steak tacos were decent. The meat was juicy but needed more spice. The toppings were fresh and well-portioned. Service was fast and polite.

WOW sooo amazing!! the prices are so awesome, especially for a college budget. I got the cali and was so surprised on how much tofu they put inside the burrito. Usually tofu is put very sparingly in burritos but that was not the case for here in addition, the tofu was marinated and had an amazing flavor. The position size was also gigantic, easily can be more than one meal if you aren't super hungry. The couple running the truck are also super sweet. Definitely will be a regular customer here!!

Yum. You only need one word to describe the food. The burritos are enormous and so tasty. I always get the California burrito and it's packed with tofu, rice, beans, gauc. Oh I almost forgot about the salsa which is freshly made and you can choose from 2 kinds. So delicious! I can almost eat all of the burrito because it's that good.

The Mexicali food truck is back. It's back, people. Oh, do you prefer the abundant burrito chains in West Philly? I'm sorry... do you even have taste buds? This place has a seriously creative menu. I'm a vegan and I can appreciate the incredibly long list of veg-friendly options (just hold the cheese to make them vegan). Today, on their grand re-opening day, I tried the new "Tofu Verde" burrito for $5. Everything on it is quality. From the deliciously fresh and soft tortilla, to the chewy marinated tofu, to the cilantro and onion, to the slow cooked wonderfully spiced beans. I inhaled it although the initial plan was to save half for later. My bad. But so worth it. I also highly recommend anything with sweet potatoes or guacamole. The vegetarian tacos are wonderfully spicy, packed with tofu and sweet potatoes and a great deal at $5.

I wrote a review of MexiCali about five years ago. I just wanted to stop back and say that this food truck is still amazing. They have survived the pandemic and and their food is better than ever. They raised the prices by a tiny amount, but honestly they're still the best value for your burrito dollar. Visit this food truck soon!

INCREDIBLE BURRITOS AT INCREDIBLE PRICES!!! Ridiculously tasty flavor combos and it's all so filling. My constant order is the small Sweet Potato Burrito. It's $4, bursting with flavor, and very very filling. Also, they will kindly replace the cheese for sour cream at no extra cost if you prefer that. Do note that you can't have multiple salsas though. Personally I suggest the mild one, it's basically pico de gallo. Overall, there are lots of vegetarian options, lots of non vegetarian options, and they grill every burrito to perfection. Also Jane and her husband are so sweet. Cash only. Definitely come eat here!! Me and all of my friends are addicted.

In my spontaneous Philly food truck tour today, I wanted to find a hidden gem that not many people were talking about. Judging by the amount of reviews here, I believe I've found it. My guacamole burrito was wonderful! Perfect flavor, and nice and fresh to boot. I can't say that enough. I would have finished it off if I hadn't sampled another truck first. But these burritos for $5 will fill you up no problem. Definitely a hidden gem.

Wow, this food truck is pretty amazing because it is different. Once I had a burrito here, it changed my entire perception of what the perfect burrito can be. I mean they don't have the PERFECT one, but it's pretty close. I'm talking about after the burrito has been all made, the lovely employees put it on a grill and cradle the burrito in a little crib of heat. It chars the tortilla leaving an amazing taste that only adds to the burrito. Sure it may take a little extra time, but IT IS SO WORTH IT. Their different combos are also so amazing for such a small food truck. They have all kinds of meat from chicken to pork, to vegetarian options such as sweet potatoes and avocado. They have 4 levels of sauces which are all good and different. They also have a California special where they replace rice and beans with hash browns, which is truly an amazing combination. Highly recommend to try this place if you're ever in Philadelphia.

Maybe I had a rare meh experience, but I just don't get it. Yes, MexiCali is cheaper than Chipotle, but my burrito plate was still $6 and about the same size as Chipotle burrito bowls but with fewer ingredients. I enjoy choosing my own ingredients, and I was surprised to see that MexiCali pre-created set burritos on their menu. One time I went the husband(?) was also there, and he strictly told everyone they couldn't substitute any part of the order -- had to get it as is. Not even chicken for pork. And the line at MexiCali is scarily long most of the time... While she doesn't need to cook ingredients on the spot most of the time, I've been in line at Hemo's or New York Gyro next door, and I notice that people at MexiCali spend just as much time in line as me even though Hemo's is admittedly slow and NY Gyro generally has a much longer line. I actually really like MexiCali's dirty rice, but the chicken and carnitas both seemed pretty bland and tasted like it had been slow-cooked in a soup or something. In general, besides the rice I felt that everything else was only all right. Seems to be overhyped in my opinion though.
