Covid precautions are top notch and above requirements. Transparency on the website is clear about their cleaning habits and air filters, etc. Checked for vaccination proof at the door *with* ID. Lovely staff who are pleasant and real -- leagues away from AMC! All that *and* they show the big blockbusters?? Total win!!

Went there for the first time for the Oscar screening event 2019! The theater itself is quite old and medium sizing, could see some revitalization here and there. They do provide alcohol and even inside the actual theater that I have never been before. During the event they did bring out popcorns and snacks for us! The red velvet cookie was my favorite of the night! One thing to complain though,there's not holder or removable handle on the chairs, so you have to put everything on the ground or holding it on your own, and that you cannot pull the handle up and cuddle with the person next chair like you can in some theaters.

Been a while since I've been here, but the visits are always pleasant. Tonight, thanks to Yelp, I had the opportunity to attend the screening of Motherless Brooklyn at the Philadelphia Film Festival. Could have done without the film, but everything else (staff, concessions, etc) was great! I'll have to come more often. Besides, where else can I spend just $8 on popcorn and Fiji water?? Lol

For the most part I come here for the film society film festival, free screenings and special events. The theater is dated however there are updates throughout. Because of the neighborhood many expressions of art can be seen here. If you look on the Philadelphia Film Society website you will find events up to a year in advance at The Prince Theater. Here you can see Opera, local artists, independent films, dance such as ballet and non-traditional performances. The theater also works in cooperation with Opera Philadelphia to replay or broadcast performances during their Opera Festivals. The downside to this location is parking, it's hard to find and very expensive. They offer a discount about 3 blocks away at Liberty Place but the discount is minimal the parking is still approximately $12-$15. Overall if you are going to a festival or special event it is a nice location. My suggestion is, take public transportation, Lyft, Uber or a cab to avoid the parking problems in the area.

Came here to watch Endgame at 2:15pm. Previews didn't start playing until after 2:30pm. At 3:15 the screen went black but sound kept playing for a couple minutes. Then it stopped completely. I told a staff member, but there's been no change and we are all sitting in a pitch black theater right now. For a 3 hour movie... I set aside a lot of time for this movie. It's been about 10 minutes and someone just came to say the shows been cancelled. We are being refunded our tickets but no compensation for time or travel. We came and paid to come to this theater for this specific showing and to have it be cancelled with no consideration for the time set aside, or travel, is completely unacceptable.

I visited The Prince Theater yesterday for the first time while attending screenings from The Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival. I've always walked or driven passed, taking note of the beautiful marquee, always a tad curious, but never had never or made sure to have, a reason to visit before. The main theater is rather large with stadium seating. I actually found the seats to be rather comfortable. We sat in the first 6 rows and had great views of the wide stage. The screen for films is huge and I can't imagine anyone not being able to see. The circular lights above added a nice modern, elegant touch to the space. This theater is known for movie premieres and all sorts of film festivals. It's quite normal to to have Q&A afterwards with directors and writers from the film. I experienced this with Anthony Bourdain's 'Wasted' during the Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival. Most recently I attended the premiere of 'Gotti' and unbeknownst to me, and many others in the theater, John Travolta and Kelly Preston who play John & Victoria Gotti walked out! It was kind of the coolest!! They also have another smaller room for meetings and such called Black Box. The staff were all super nice and kept the lines moving swiftly, directing everyone where to go. The space is very clean and well kept. I found $4 for a small popcorn with the option to add butter for the kiddos fine, but to pay the same for a bottle of water, not so much. Whomp, whomp. Free samples of locally made beer for this event kinda made up for it though. They do always have simple wine options as well as a half a dozen bottles including Sierra Nevada, Allagash, Peroni, Dogfish Head and some IPAs. You're going to want to Uber or take public transportation if you can. Parking isn't the easiest in the area. Located right down the street from Del Friscos for a nice din after or Hip City Veg for those plant based folks wanting to do a quick take-out. Yum! Lovely time and I'm so glad Prince is now on my radar. Lots of great upcoming shows and I'll keep my eyes peeled for future film festivals. This one was very a enjoyable experience! Thank you! First of all I want to thank YELP for the 2 free tickets to see the screening of "Motherless Brooklyn" last night for the Philadelphia Film Festival! This was the 1st time Hubby and I even heard of this event, nor did we know about the theatre or the Philadelphia Film Society, so this was a whole new experience for us. The workers & Volunteers were super nice and explained how things work bc for first timers, it's a little confusing as to which line you stand in outside. (By the way, glad the email from Yelp said to get there early, especially bc we were driving from NJ & had to park in a garage). So, we got there a little after 7pm to go inside where the box office is located to pick up our tickets and then the helpful volunteers directed us to "The Ticket Holder Line", (there are a total of 4 different lines) where you stand and wait until to be let in. The first line, "The Badge Holder Line" is let in first, the 2nd is "The Members Line" is next. The 3rd is "Ticket Holder" (basically just means you have secured a ticket) and the last is "The Rush Line" which is where ppl stand who are waiting to see if they can buy a ticket. Now, Mind you, even if both of the first 2 lines are let in, they still keep you waiting outside if you're in line 3 or 4 until they are confident that no more Badge Holders or Members arrive, then the ticket holders are finally let in. So even though we arrived at almost 1 1/2 hours before the movie was to start, we didn't get in until 15 mins before it started and we were Blessed to get 2 seats together bc that theater was packed!!! This particular venue only has 1 theatre in it & its very tight stadium seating but we wound up on the floor bc the uppers were full. It's a good thing I'm petite (5ft 1") bc there was no leg room, I felt bad for hubby (5' 8"). The screen should have been bigger for 400 ppl and the sound only came from the front. Not surround sound. They do offer a small selection of canned beer & wine at the concession (nothing we heard of b4), popcorn & a few candies. Hubby got us a popcorn & 2 cans of beer called IPA (had like a tattoo pic on it). It was gross and it came to $21.00!!! Now Add my parking garage fee of $36 to that. The movie was..."Meh". I suppose if it was better movie & if there was going to be a movie star there, I might go back again. Otherwise, I'm gonna have to say, "Nahhh". But 3 Stars for The Very Nice People and I liked the outside retro look of the theatre. Thanks again to Yelp for the new experience thoug

I was introduced to The Prince Theater during the recent Philadelphia Film Festival. I didn't know what I was missing. It's on my list for potential screening options from now on. The theater itself is in good shape and appears to hold a good crowd. They have curtains they use to limit capacity for more intimate showings. While I'm not happy you can't pull up the arm rests to help 'cuddle' during the movie, the seats are comfortable. Why not 5 stars? I think the concession prices are a bit high. Honestly, they may be movie theater standard prices as I usually don't hit up concessions, but enough for me to hold back on star #5 (for now). Still, The Price Theater is clearly worth checking out!

Went here for the first time to watch a ballet and I would say every seat is a great seat. It is a smaller theatre but so perfect for Philly. Seats are comfy and we sat in the very back row for student options. We asked and could have moved up closer (I forgot my glasses that day-ugh) and the steward said we could move up closer. We ended up staying out and the founder of the ballet say in front of us! Sort of cool! Would totally go back. It looks poor from the outside because it's in a heavily used part of town but just go in and go what it's there for.

Came on a day when the Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival was taking place. I really never knew that this theater was a movie theater in the middle of the city, always assuming that it was a place that showed musicals or plays. There was a free ticket event going on, so I came for the showing of a movie and short with Bourdain. While they had us stand outside in the cold while there was plenty of room inside, (I think to attract more people?) the event wasn't very full, but they have a concession stand with alcohol, popcorn, and other snacks, as well as a old looking ticket booth and a nice lobby. I believe the Movie Pass works here, so that's also a plus if you want to see more out there movies. The screen was huge, and there wasn't a bad seat in the whole place, which I appreciated. Will be coming back for the atmosphere and the easily accessible location!
