Although I only went here for two sessions, as someone who thoroughly enjoys the circus arts, this establishment was fabulous! The location is far off the beaten path, and with good reason. When you are in the flying trapeze rig, it is nestled into a tree-lined area in a relatively suburban location of Philly. This makes it adorable and charming, but, if you have allergies or sensitivities to outdoor buggies and things, just be careful. I might have had some bites that made me very uncomfortable later. During the sessions, I loved it. The staff here are kind, supportive and helpful. They are skilled and talented. It is more fun than you could imagine, so just try it out! They provide incredible feedback, so, just wait for it. Very helpful! I didn't try anything but flying trapeze, so I cannot attest to the other classes, but if I were in Phily for more than a day trip, I would absolutely try the other options for aerial and circus arts. Flying trapeze is so much fun, and in this tree-lined area, it feels very much like being in someone's back-yard as a kid flying around with an exhilarating feeling of freedom. Don't fret - the staff will keep you safe as you soar, literally, to new heights. Parking is not in a lot but on the street, so good luck finding street parking. There are lots of streets around, you just might need to walk a few blocks. Totally worth it though! Bring water and snacks if you want to stay hydrated and might run low on your energy. The building you enter to check in is an old-fashioned building made of stone, and it has a cool feel to it. Love this place!

I came here by public transportation from Old City, Philadelphia on a Tuesday evening in late June 2022. It took almost an hour for me to get there with all the transfers but the public transportation section of Google Maps made it super easy. If you're staying in Philly without a car, which I would highly recommend, you should get a Travel Wallet/SEPTA Key Card. The SEPTA App makes it super easy to reload money into your Key Card as you use it throughout your stay. I took their intermediate fabrics class and had a terrific time. The class was the right level more me as I had told them my prior aerial experience through email before registering for the class. I told them I can do a few straight arm inversions, a triple star, wheel-downs, and have been doing aerials silks for 3.5 years at that point. If you have trouble registering, just email them and they are fairly responsive. Rachel taught the class and we did a 5-minute warm up on the floor before some shoulder shrugs and a warm up climb of choice before jumping into the sequence - pretty appropriate for an hour long class, in my opinion. They have a communal rosin container for people to share and everyone wore their masks throughout the entire class. They even have a communal water fountain. I forgot to bring my water bottle but when I asked Rachel for a disposable cup she went to the back and found one for me - such a life saver in that humid heat. It didn't look like they had air conditioning but their windows are open and the fans did what they could. The space looked like an old church that was converted into a circus school. The ceilings were very high and the space was big enough to have two other classes going on at the same time. I learned a lot from Rachel and would highly recommend it if you're looking for a circus class to take in Philadelphia.

Circadium, Philadelphia School of Contemporary Circus, who knew? We all hear the stories about the lazy millennials. Here's a chance to see a great group of hard-working talented kids. Philadelphia School of Contemporary Circus' Haunted Mansion. Designed, built and acted all by the students. I went to the family performance. It was great to see the students working hard to make sure the younger kids had a great time. On the first floor there are activities for the kids to do while they wait for their turn to go to the Haunted Mansion, on the 2nd floor. PSA, if you're an old man taking pictures don't go at family time you look creepy

This past Sunday I did a trapeze class as a part of a bachelorette weekend, and it was such a nice time. Mary Kelly, who led the class, was so positive and had such a great energy, that I think it would be impossible for anyone to not have a good time. When we got there Mary Kelly had us do introductions. I was really impressed because she had reviewed our sign ups before we came, so she already knew most of our names- this was a really nice and personal touch! We met the rest of her staff and then practiced on a low bar before starting on the actual trapeze. We took turns practicing different moves, and Mary Kelly and co. were meanwhile very encouraging and instructive. It was a lot of fun and I'd happily go back (as I believe woukd the rest of my party). The only two things I would do differently: if they recommended long pants (the backs of my knees got real chafed from shorts)! We also ended a 2 hour class about 25 minutes early, but I would have liked to do another round on the trapeze and to use up our time. Other than that, everything was fantastic and I would definitely recommend this class to friends!

I took a beginners class here Friday morning. It was really great. I never knew I could climb a rope! Our instructors taught us some basic moves on the rope, fabric acrobatics, trapeze, tight wire, and juggling. (my favorite was the trapeze) The instructors are very friendly and took time to ensure we stretched every muscle before practicing some of the moves. The training area is very nice and well lit. they also have a private parking lot. They flyers I saw read that the school also provides parties, workshops, performances, and more. (see their website) I frequent the gym - i thought I was pretty strong but geeze I must be missing some muscle groups b/c this was surely a great workout too. I will definitely go here again. Everyone should try a class here.

All i can say is WOW! What a hidden find. If you're looking to do something creative and different with you're time while sneakily getting in a workout, this is your place! A friend and i came here on a Saturday for the 1-3pm trapeze class (they run 3 classes on saturdays). We were SO nervous going into it, but Mary Kelly, the owner was so warm and welcoming the nerves melted away. Her two staff members were equally as kind and they all complemented each other nicely. You start with a short stint (i.e. about 10 minutes) on the ground, with everyone getting a shot at a low swing to hang from to practice kicks and hooking your legs (classes can go up to 10 people - mine had 7 it was perfect). All of a sudden - you go up on the platform! Even though it's crazy to think how quickly it happens, it's all natural body motions so i was shocked when i was able to hang from my knees off the swing, superwoman arms out, and then do a backflip onto the net! Each person has about 6 tries. If you're able to get your timing right, they even have someone catch you as you get off your swing. Great instruction that makes everyone feel like they accomplished a lot no matter what their skill! I'll be back!

Was given tickets through Yelp for the Haunted Circus. Really wasn't sure what to expect at all. My friend and I showed up around 8:00 and were given a playing card (rather than a number) and then went into their main gym area to wait to be called. There were different family activities going on, but we didn't participate in any. We had been told that were would be a performance, but while we waited we didn't get to see one (maybe it was before/after and we just missed it). Honestly, the haunted house part was better than I expected! It's not long at all (felt like maybe 10 minutes), but they definitely have you jumping at every chance they can! Because it's so short, i'm not sure it's worth the $10 that they charge, but they still did a good job.

So disappointed! My daughter desperately wanted to try the trapeze for her birthday. It took me well over a month to get the private lesson scheduled; several emails & phone calls, all with different people. I spoke with the program director who finally made & confirmed my lesson. Note: In ALL the correspondence, I was VERY clear she wanted trapeze. The day of her lesson, the instructor she was scheduled with was unaware he even had a private lesson booked! About halfway through her lesson, they took a water break & I started asking the instructor questions about the trapeze, flying trapeze, aerial hoop, & their program. He tells me he is a tumbling coach, & does not know much about it; I should "schedule a lesson with one of the trapeze instructors. They are top notch!" I could not have been more clear as to what our interest was. I emailed/spoke with the director after the lesson & was told they would waive the lesson fee. Haven't seen a dollar of that! Even emailed the director asking how long it takes to get back... no response. Very saddened by the entire experience.

It is unfathomable how someone could give this circus school (or really any circus school) less than 5 stars. Let's start with the basics: 1. People who do circus and teach circus are the best people 2. Circus is a fun workout and a great way to test your strengths while stepping out of your comfort zone 3. People who attend circus classes are the best type of people While living in Chicago, I found a Gilt deal for TSNY. I went once. I was hooked (I should prob write a review over there too). It's been a few months now and I've quickly learned that while my natural trapeze talent isn't quite what I hoped, my passion for it is strong. While visiting Philly, I decided to check out the rig at the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts because why not? Some people go to cities to eat, I go to new cities to fly. Yolo. I showed up to my class only to be greeted by a very enthusiastic woman named Mary Kelly. She hyped everyone in the class up, got us all ready to go, and gave critical feedback after each turn. I managed to improve my split and was caught at the end! This school is a bit more expensive than some of the other ones I've attended so far but totally worth it. The outdoor rig is fun and all the people in my class were regulars. Def recommend if you want to try something new, get your heart rate up (25 feet in the air is no joke), and meet some fun people.

I have been dying to take an aerials class and stumbled upon this awesome school when I was searching. The location isn't the most appealing but once you walk in, you are definitely in the circus world. I took the Intro to Aerials workshop with Shannon. The class started with warming up with some laps, crunches, and stretches. Did not expect to really get a workout in but, that warm up was important for what was in store. There were a total of 4 students. Class time was split for time between rope, trapeze, and silks. Silk was the class favorite and was saved for last. I would enjoy a full class of silks. Also, they have an seating/waiting area on the 2nd floor for observing and of course, pictures! That was awesome! I am definitely going back for more fun when I'm in town!
