The hotel is tired, and it shows all around the hotel from the elevator to the hotel room. I'm not usually so picky, but this hotel room was pretty bad with chipped paint, dings everywhere and a barely functional toilet that required two flushes for every visit. Over the course of our stay, housekeeping never had a chance to come, though I think daily housekeeping is supposed to be included. Everybody at the hotel was very friendly. The hotel is massive, and the elevators are a little slow so the elevators can get quite crowded. Breakfast at this hotel is in a large area, but it is still quite crowded so I'd advise going on the earlier side. The hotel gym is big, but most of the space is devoted to cardio with just a small area for weights. The location is pretty central and within walking distance of a lot of things (in particular, a Trader Joe's).

Great location within walking distance of so many nice bars and restaurants as well as Reading Terminal Market. Rooms were nice, spacious and clean - but I didn't really care for the shower as there was no way to keep the floor from getting soaked since it had a very unique design for the door. Not a huge inconvenience, but it was somewhat annoying.

For the central location near the convention center, this is one of the more affordable options. While it's in a historic bank building, the exterior is beautiful but the interior is ok. The walls are paper thin, I could hear what other guests were doing. Also, my room smelled like smoke. They also upcharged me. Charge was $200 more than the quote, or receipt provided at checkout. The highlight was the complimentary breakfast. Skip this Marriott and stay at the main one closer to the Reading Terminal Market. I heard many others had a better stay there.

The earliest check in time is rather late at 4pm vs the typical 3pm, which is inconvenient. One out of 3 elevators were broken. The other two occasionally did not read the room key scanner and people frequently had to ride the elevator up and down, missing their floor. This also happened to me on 2 occasions during my one night stay. The elevators were such a problem, you at times had to wait for 4 elevators to stop at your floor before you could fit into one. Most were frequently packed beyond recommended capacity. The toilet in my room was so loud it sounded like an airplane taking off... when it did flush. It usually required holding the handle for a prolonged time. Everyone woke up when it was flushed during the night. The comforter, instead of having a cover, was sandwiched between 2 sheets, which would move and no longer cover the comforter. The comforter itself was stained and dirty. The front desk was understaffed. After requesting some extra pillows, I was told someone would be bringing them up immediately. Several hours later, I had to travel down to the front desk to get them myself. It was difficult to find potable water from a water fountain anywhere, nor was I able to locate an ice machine. Parking fees were outrageously high and you are warned to budget up to 40 minutes to retrieve your car. This is an aging building that is not kept up on, but is charging the price of a new building. While the staff was pleasant enough, I would not stay there again nor would I recommend anyone else to stay there.

If I could teleport into the hotel room, I think it would be a better experience. Everything leading up to that is a bit bleh. The hotel is central, but you dont want to be walking around there at night. Lobby is plain and they didnt even have water to offer onlate arrival ("we ran out, try tomorrow"). The hotel fells outdated. They have a large breakfast buffet which is nice, but nothing special (eggs, sausage, cereals). Price wasnt that much less than higher end hotels nearby, I wouldnt choose to stay here again.

LOCATION is great...right across from the historical city hall. The entire area is historical as well. We were able to Uber, walk to the Hop-on-Hop off bus, and use public buses without any difficulty. This area has a lot of questionable people running around but none of them bothered us. You just must be vigilant and exercise caution. I feel like all of Philadelphia was like this as well. PARKING is expensive. We opted to book on-line through Spot Hero at the Convention Center Parking Garage. We paid about $25/night vs. $70/night at the hotel and saved a BUNCH of money! The walk was only about 2 blocks and well worth the savings. CHECK-IN/FRONT STAFF were mostly friendly and helpful but lacked little knowledge about the area for us, as tourists. Sure, there is a booklet, map, and a list of restaurants sitting on the phone counter, but a CONCIERGE would be more helpful. This was a big negative for me since this was my first time in Philadelphia. ROOM was worn and not especially clean. Needs updating ...the whole hotel could use a remodel. We had a corner queen suite...it had plenty of room. The space was not very functional since the bathroom and sink were in the bedroom. Each time the person sleeping on the pull-out couch had to use the bathroom, they disturbed the person sleeping in the bed. The Queen Suite would be perfect for 1 person or a couple sleeping in the same bed. We did have a great view from the 20th floor. BREAKFAST was okay. Not much variety but it helped us save money on food costs. We were there for 4 mornings for breakfast and the only thing I think changed was the protein. The first day it was bacon, the second day turkey sausage, third day pork sausage, and the last day turkey sausage again. Other than that, it was always scrambled eggs, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, beverages and few other things...but always the same except for the meat. The staff working the breakfast area were FANTASTIC! So friendly and helpful. The SECOND FLOOR is nice to sit and relax but we did not find out about it until the next day at breakfast. The first-floor lobby is small and underwhelming. I would consider coming back myself because of the location across from City Hall and also near Reading Terminal. The price per night was very affordable. Marriott just needs to address the aging of their hotels and update. Breakfast could be better. More help at the front desk for tourist planning sightseeing and tours.

We stayed at the Residence for 2 nights around the Super Bowl parade weekend. On the very positive side, the staff was great - valet, front desk, breakfast - all were helpful and knowledgable. We had a room facing City Hall 10+ floors up. The room was very quiet from the inside noises - nothing can block out city noises like sirens though. The room was clean, properly outfitted. The room is dated - older televisions, couch, bed...all dated. The water pressure was sub-optimal for shower, sink, toilet - sometimes taking 2 minutes plus to get hot water to the sink (shower was far quicker). Parking rate seems high ($50 a day) - but we are in Center City - so maybe not? We would however stay here again if the need arose.

Stayed at the Residence Inn during WrestleMania 40 weekend. I arrived to the hotel early and although rooms were not ready, they gladly assisted in storing my luggage until my room was ready. Front desk was friendly and helpful. This location was in walking distance to stores, restaurants, etc. Clean, lovely hotel!

During my recent stay at the Residence Inn in Center City Philadelphia with my two children, I experienced a mix of positives and negatives. Positives: Check-In Experience: The check-in process was seamless, and the front desk staff were both warm and efficient. Breakfast: The complimentary hot breakfast was enjoyable, with friendly service. Location: The hotel's location is excellent, just a five-minute walk from Reading Terminal Market and other attractions. Negatives: Hotel Condition: The property is shabby, with torn wallpaper and rusty shower fixtures. Cleanliness Issues: Upon arrival, there were several fruit flies or gnats, both dead and alive, in the bathroom and on the window sill. Bathroom Facilities: The toilet was finicky and wouldn't always flush on the first attempt. Bed Cleanliness: When I climbed into bed, I found something small and hard under the fitted sheet. Lifting it up, I discovered stale crumbs. Shower Experience: The shower water never got hot, remaining lukewarm at best, and the water pressure was lacking. Housekeeping: Housekeeping is provided every other day, which is fine, but larger wastebaskets in the room would help prevent trash from overflowing by the second day. Valet: It took 45 mins to retrieve my car from valet parking. And another couple who was waiting for their car had to wait even longer because they misplaced their key.
