A corner store that mostly does take out beers. They have a small deli in the back, but it's mostly like burgers and stuff. If you want to 40 in the middle of the night, it's a good place to go. Otherwise, this is just a no-frills frills corner beer takeout place.

Stopped in at Salt & Pepper for an alcoholic slushy-- tried the pina colada (blue) flavor which hit the spot on a hot summer day. The "small" size is ample & cost only $3.50. The 2 other available flavors are watermelon & strawberry daiquiri. Staff was super helpful and friendly.

OK, so apparently there's food there, which is no biggie, given the plethora of options in West Philly. What they DO have, which is more of a challenge, is adult libations, and a LOT of them. Plus, cigarettes, which more and more places no longer sell. Yay, Nanny State. Those frozen slushies you see whirling mid counter? They have booze in them. So, if you want to get your drink on, cool down, and flash a pretty coloured tongue, without having to brown bag it, this might be for you. You can have your pick in the beer world, from 45s, to Hard Cider, and a whole load of fiercer, finer, or freakier, in betwixt, if that's your fancy. Meanwhile, and I give them respect for this, as this is an Olympic Level Feat, in Philly; they got a licence to sell wine. So, if you hate complaints, but, can tolerate them if you have a vat of the grapes in, or at least near you, then stop by. The whining and whinging will be mildly less irritating...maybe. WARNING: The rest is a tad anti-gov and anti-corporations, so if you love either, I'd skip the rest of this..... Their prices are cheaper than/on a par with the Fresh Grocer, which doesn't give their employees hazard pay anymore; despite what 45 (not the size/brand of beer) said about the Pandemic being done by now sooooo not being true. SO! It's much better to give your money to this lovely group of people in our neighbourhood, than to some corporation that dry humps its employees, for a few dollars, whilst they risk their lives. Plus, the S&P peeps are wearing masks, AND behind bullet proof glass, so that's definitely about the employees, and customers, being safe!

White people be Yelping anything! It's a fucking deli. They are a dime a dozen in the hood. And this is southwest Philly- Kingsessing if you really want to be specific. Nobody born & raised in Philly calls 47th & Chester west Philly. Or Squirrel Hill. Nobody rates a deli. They sell beer & Boone's Farm. Nobody buys their food. If you're drunk or high enough to order a cheesesteak (probably hamster) & frozen fries... well you're a fool & deserve to be poisoned. Five stars just because they're convenient & the floors are relatively clean & the cashier told me not to waste money on a Straw-ber-Rita cause it tastes like crap and I wouldn't get a buzz.

I had to review this place, it's in my hood. My go to: cheesesteak with fried onions, cheese and a little bit of ketchup. Tip: make sure to give them ENOUGH TIME if you're ordering fries. They do a good job, but give them enough time to finish the job.. otherwise they won't be crispy and delicious enough! And that's totally not their fault. Prices are decent for their value. Its about $6 for a cheesesteak combo with drink, fries and cheesesteak. I can eat those cheesesteaks for 2 meals. Although a hungry guy might be able to eat the whole thing. They also have cheap drinks, 4 loco for $3, cheap-ish 6 packs. They're way cheaper than Best House -- but of course beer distributors are still the cheapest. They 2 asian guys working there are very nice, lovely and always remember their repeat customers.

While jungle juice is my preferred drink, this lovely gem nestled in the Squirrel Hill section of historic West Philadelphia boasts a vast array of FOUR Loko sure to please the most discerning malt liquor enthusiast. The service is friendly and prompt. The inches-thick bullet proof glass adds to the cloudy ambiance preferred by its clientele. This is one of the few places where the entire staff ducks as a BMW pulls up to the trash riddled streets. Truly a diamond in the rough, you will not be disappointed when you casually order the small fries and a friendly face questions: "SALT AND PEPPER?"

This place is awesome. It's sells beer til 1am in West Philly. It's a white whale. It's a dream. Thank you Salt & Pepper. People are nice, prices aren't bad, and not too brightly lit. You may have to pass a bunch of dudes just chilling in there near the front. It happens in the evening sometimes. Every time this happens I always get eye-upped so, ladies especially, just letting you know.

If your seeing a punk rock show in somebody's basement in West Philly this is your place to buy Booze. Stuff here is dirt cheap. I never got around to trying any food here though. If you were trying to rob this place, I'd try somewhere else. They have authentic 2 inch thick plastic every where. This might foil your robbery attempt.

The prices are decent, they sell beer till 1am (which, moving from Chicago wouldn't seem that awesome, but in Philly it's a big deal), it's 30 seconds from my front door, they make a pretty rad fish sandwich, the guys behind the counter are SO NICE... this place wins. Beware, though, it's cash only. The ATM only charges a buck though, so no big deal as long as you've got a debit card.
