Great dive bar. Drinks are dumb cheap. Vibes upstairs are always different depending on the DJ. Don't always love not knowing what you're going to get out of the crowd but also kinda love it also? Easy place to go to if you want cheap & to the point

It was... fine. Not a bad place to just grab a drink at a pub style bar (downstairs). My main issue is with the upstairs "dance" club type area. It's just way too small. One tiny bathroom. One tiny bar area which creates a huge line that barely moves. And the sound system! My God, the sound system, just bad. I went for a disco night and managed to dance a little on the crowded dance floor. But the crowds on the dance floor weren't moving! How is it, that SO MANY PEOPLE came out to a disco dance night, and just stood on the floor talking? Not moving? Honestly, it wasn't worth the cover, and I removed the next dance event at this venue from my calendar. Overall, meh.

A nice different down to earth vibe. It's all on your preference (probably which DJ is playing) but from the time you walk inside and head up the hallway upstairs and see the wallpaper to the couches. It sorta feels like a house party in a controlled adult setting. Bartenders are cool although it can get busy. Drinks on the cheap side but I wouldn't say dirt cheap. I've been coming here since 2014 and this is a mainstay on my chill nightlife list.

Great service with a true neighborhood vibe. The new menu is fantastic. They've got some of the best tacos in the neighborhood and the prices can't be beat! Do yourself a favor and help yourself to those short rib tacos asap! Also if you're up for it now that they've opened the whole place back up, check out the upstairs dance party!

With the Barbary and Silk City kicking off things in full swing, I rarely find myself here for a night of dancing anymore. especially since 941 Theater started bringing in the occasional dance night of epicness. But that doesn't mean that the upstairs doesn't have it's good nights. If anything it only means that there's usually more room to cut a rug, and when you're as tall as I am that isn't necessarily a bad thing. But to me the best and most consistent thing about 700 Club is still the downstairs bar. The bartenders always whip up some pretty strong drinks. And the beer selection is always exceptionally well rounded. And this bar will always be known as the reason that I've sworn off Mad Elf (good thing it's seasonal!).

This jawn is a dud. A bust, a horrible time, and bad music. I was here a few years ago and it was hella crowded but this time it was the opposite. The club had too little people and on top of that, the music was horrible. I enjoy to dance but there was no good dancing music. It felt like an awkward high school dance. People were having fun not were they really moving. My friends ended up sitting down less than an hour being there. I don't even think we stayed there for an hour. Overall, don't go unless you just want some free.

I am going to do a pre-yelp review. As in, I am going to review the 700 (we always called it the 700 Club but then I was up early on Sun morning looking for something good on TV... and realized why they don't use that name) by getting in my wrinkled, floating-in-spinal-fluid time machine to 2004 give or take 2 years and review. That way you can measure it up to how awesome it used to be. At that time, in my early 20s, I was pretty hot. Well, I mean, I look at pics now (39) of then (23) and think "damn! Why didn't I wear make up or do something with my hair or go to the gym? I was hot! And skinny!) and my one friend organized all our going out nights cis no one else wanted to pick the place and call everyone and drive too but do she got to pick where we went and she was all about Old City and NoLib. And cover bands. So dancing was more often than not something like this: 4 or 5 shots of SoCo (chilled, no lime) and 2 or 3 vodkrans and my old (as in "where is she now?") BFF and I would have each other and dance. Within 5 min, one of us would lean in and tell over the music "you have a butt humper!" Then the other would reply "Thanks! So do you!" I'm so glad I used to love ska shows as a teen because skanking (which is not what you think it is but the name of the dance you do when you listen to ska) is all elbows so I would just start skanking. Not only would he now have an embarrassing girl doing a funny dance 6 inches from him, he also had elbows coming way too close for his balls for comfort. I'd get a nod when he was gone and commence regular dancing. There were 2 clubs that were an exception to this rule: Woody's, and 700. And the music! Upstairs it would be smoky (disregard, no longer applicable) in the way that was obvious cigs mingling in secretish lower level of The Last Drop (n. Eng. A coffee shop that I think is still there on 13th and Pine that I went to every day after school from 1995 to 97) with weed. So keep in mind what the year was and the stylist would be something like: If I were a Rich Girl, Friday I'm In Love, Mo' Money, Mo' Problems, Toxic (B Spears), 99 Red Balloons, Love Shack, Heya (or whatever that Black Eyed Peas song was called) and Anarchy in the UK or Smells like Teen Spirit. It was fun, it was a danceathon, it was so reasonable for center cityish, and it was DIRTY. I once had heels on that were giving me crazy blisters so I was drunk enough to dance in hate feed. Not only did so it out a cigarette with my left foot by accident, when I left and looked at them, I literally could have drawn a pic on them that would look like a negative. Shitty analogy. They were pitch black. But it would be worth it. E everyone was so friendly and obviously bonding with a live for the music. Something old and (unyil now) forgotten would come on and if find myself around 2 or 4 random people, girls and guys, and we'd "whoo!" And all start singing, dancing to play off each other and the lyrics. It was that kind of comradery. Rare as fudge to find. That connection with a crowd where you feel yourself not as just "Your Name Here, Data Entry, Likes herb and kickboxing (the sport of the future)" but part of the collective human conscious which is like a rush. Awesome. Then you'd go downstairs and theres a bunch of yuppies in business casual drinking cosmos and martinis at the bar. That part was weird but the rest of it... If it is any different than what my time machine told us it used to be like, then it has only gone downhill and you should look high and low elsewhere for the place that gives you the feeling this place used to. Then get on Yelp and let me know where it's at.

700 club is one of my favorite bars in Philadelphia because of the atmosphere and music. They have a large assortment of drinks that are all reasonably priced. 700 club has two floors- the first seems like a regular bar but once you go upstairs you find what appears to be an apartment converted into a dance club. What used to be a bathroom counter is now a DJ stand with an actual toilet seat next to it. I love this feel because it's as if you're at a house party but with a bunch of strangers who like the same music as you. They play all kinds of music from new to old. When I was here they played a lot of Kanye so I was very pleased. I really liked the crowd here. Everyone just seems to be getting down and having a good time. The only downfall I find I feel is the AC is just not strong enough for the amount of dancing this atmosphere requires. Regardless, whenever anyone asks for bar suggestions I almost always mention 700 club- huge fan.

Wow, was this place a ragin' good time on Saturday night. I actually avoided it for so long cause the name sounded like a knockoff, outdated Studio 54. I only took off a star since it's one of those "doesn't get good till after midnight" kind of places, which is a pet peeve of mine cause I like an adequate amount of good dancing/socializing time at a bar from start to finish. But when it got good, it was GOOD. We got there at 11:15 since we didn't feel like waiting around anymore. Downstairs had like 7 people and the dance floor upstairs was practically empty. DJ was playing really annoying shitty 80s music (most likely because it was dead) and I was afraid it was gonna stay like that but my friends kept reassuring me it would get better in a half hour to 45 minutes. And whaddya know, lo and behold, at ten to midnight the place was suddenly pouring in with people and the 80s music made a quick transfer into Uptown Funk. Okay, here we go. The DJ was really good and worked with the crowd and I got to sweat and grind to an awesome mix of early 2000s hip hop throwbacks, a few modern clubby songs and reggae. The crowd is a cornucopia - bros, hipsters, hippies, dressed down, dressed up, old, young, solos, couples....it's a nice blend of people where everyone's friendly and everyone gets along. No fights, shoving or mean looks - kind of rare for a place that gets so damn packed you can barely move. There were even a few breakdancing circles forming towards the end of the night. Grandma's upholstered and mildewed couches kind of get in the way but somehow make the place that much more charming. Upstairs definitely used to be an apartment, with the DJ stand on a literal bathtub next to a toilet- old school tile on the walls and everything. Framed vignettes and mirrors and pictures in old antique frames all over the walls. The back upstairs bar looks like an old school I Love Lucy kitchen (FYI, this bar is cash only, but you can pay with debit/credit downstairs). I didn't pay for any drinks (one of those nights), but my friends said it's cheap and they had a decent selection of bottled and canned beers in addition to the drafts. FYI, you will most likely spend the majority of the night outside where everyone goes to smoke/socialize. We met SO many people out here over the course of just a couple of hours, so it's definitely worth it if you want to cool down and catch your breath and meet some cool people. I'll definitely be back here to dance if I'm ever in the area.
