A few weeks ago I had to spend multiple hours on multiple days at the County Recorder's office researching land sales back in the 1960s. One of those days I decided I needed a lunchbreak, so I picked up my things to head over to 1st Street in search of food. As I exited the Recorder's Office, I saw the sign for the cafeteria downstairs. Now, honestly without that sign I'd never have known there was a cafeteria. There were no smells wafting up to tempt me, no sounds of cutlery or whatever .. and I went downstairs mostly expecting that the cafeteria was no longer in service. Pleasantly, I was wrong. The cafeteria serves the County staff and anyone else who wanders in (like me!) It is clean, there is a good selection of food (a grill, a salad bar, a sandwich bar, and a specials area). The menus are clearly marked with pricing, which is average for lunches, and the staff was friendly. I chose to have one of the specials that day - french dip with a piece of corn on the cob and chili beans. It was wonderful and cost me less than $7 including a bottle of water. There was plenty of seating in a large room with windows. One thing I LOVE about the cafeteria though is that it's totally green-focused! They have silverware if you're eating in, and compostable "plastic" if you're not. The plates are compostable paper. There is one small garbage bin, and large "COMPOST" and "RECYCLE" bins for most of what you'll end up with as "trash" after your meal. I wish my job was closer to this complex or that getting to the county and parking was more convenient for everyday (the parking garage is several blocks away and a tad pricey) because I'd be happy to frequent the cafeteria more often otherwise.

This cafeteria is better than an Aramark cafeteria but not as good as say a Bon Appétit Management Company cafeteria. I went here because I wanted a coffee, had work to do in the building and there was no parking available near the local cafes a mile away. The decor is sparse but this is mostly a government institution and doesn't really need that much charm.

The sandwhich I had was palatable, but nothing spectacular. Over $12 for a sandwhich, corn chips, a cookie, and a can of Coke... and I couldn't even pick another type of chip!

Horrible service i tried to get a sandwich here and they had me going back and forth to each counter seriously how hard is to make a sandwich !
