WOW! We really loved Poogan’s Porch! Really love the old south vibe in an old building! For the price the food was outstanding! For our appetizers we ordered the short rib hand pies and the green fried tomatoes which were just killer! Our server, the lovely Miss Audrey, brought us some fresh baked biscuits and boy were they delicious! For our entrees I ordered the bone-in fried chicken with collard greens and beans and rice! The collard greens were fantastic! My dinner companion ordered the bacon-wrapped meatloaf with mashed potatoes and a Tasso gravy! Both of these meals can only be described as absolutely delicious! We ordered a bottle of Smith and Hook cab and it was very good! We were so full we didn’t order any dessert. (On a side note, they grow strange chickens down south as my half chicken had a wing, leg and two thighs! 🤷‍♂️ Was not a problem as I like thighs!) I highly, highly recommend Poogan’s to any and all if you’re visiting Charleston SC!

Came into Poogan’s today after a night at The Mill House. We had a 5 star breakfast all around. Zack took care of us and the service was wonderful. We ordered she crab soup, crab cakes, chicken and waffles and fried green tomatoes. It was all really good with the highlights being the soup and the chicken and waffles. Zack sold us on the dinner choices so we will definitely be back to try those next time we are in town. Thanks again for the hospitality and great food!

This is a restaurant to get excited about! The cozy ambiance and service is the epitome of southern hospitality. The biscuits you start with are the best I’ve ever had (coming from a non biscuit lover) — so flaky and warm. I had the shrimp and grits and it was the best I’ve ever had, hands down. I had high hopes for dessert but that’s where I was disappointed… cobbler and bread pudding were hardly warm. I’d stop after dinner! Overall great place.

I booked a reservation to this local restaurant a couple of weeks in advance.  I’m glad I did as I found it to be a very popular place to dine for southern cuisine.   My husband and I loved sitting in a booth upstairs for dinner.  We dined on She Crab Soup, biscuits with honey butter, chicken and dumplings, and fried flounder.  Our meal was unbelievably delicious and reasonably priced.  So glad we tried Poogan’s!

Everything about this place is perfect. The history, the aesthetic, the service, the FOOD!!! Julie was our server, and she was great from start to finish. She steered is in the perfect direction with food - the pimento cheese fritters OH MY GAWSH. Bacon jam - well damn. So good. She was funny and personable and made the visit just as incredible as the food.
Oh yeah, the biscuits - 10/10.

Det var en vacker dag och vi tog ett bord på verandan. Jag njöt av she crab soppa och min man hade räkor och grits. Båda var superb och vår servitris mycket uppmärksam.

Vänta personalen ouppmärksam och mycket långsam. Sallad var inte alls vad menyn sa - dessutom salladen var mycket grynig så förmodligen inte tvättas. Efterrätten kom aldrig. Vi kommer inte tillbaka

Helhetsintrycket är att det inte är så bra som recensionerna säger 
Atmosfären och atmosfären är ok - det är ganska högt och hörseln kan vara svår 
Maten var ok inget att göra detta en upprepning för mig glad att jag provade det men Meh!

Hade hoppats på lite mer sydländsk gästfrihet, men njöt verkligen av de unika pimento frites och pekannötspajen var legit!

Utsökt med bra, vänlig Service. Vi gick och åt frukost. Kycklingen och våfflorna var utsökta och de höll kaffet kommer. Stämningen var mycket elegant.

De stekta gröna tomaterna var ganska goda. Den stekta kycklingen var utsökt och kycklingen & dumplings var helt okej. Jag skulle gå tillbaka för Service och. cocktails.

Mycket begränsad dryck och middag meny. Kexen var fantastiska. Allt annat var bara medelmåttigt i bästa fall. Mycket över - hypad.

Mat och service var utmärkt. 
PIMENTO OST FRITTERS var enastående.

Maten på Poogans veranda är alltid utmärkt, liksom den service jag fortsätter att nedlåtande. Jag var i stan med min son, det var hans första gång på restaurangen, och som alla andra som jag har tagit dit, kom han bort, helt imponerad.

Vi var på en rundtur i Fort Sumter och en grupp som satt nära oss berättade att de njöt av Poogans veranda så vi gick och åt lunch, det är en kvant gammal sydländsk herrgårdsmiljö som jag njöt av. Vår Server var en ung man vars namn jag glömmer men han gjorde ett bra jobb och jag berättade det för honom eftersom han checkade in med oss flera gånger. Maten är ”dog och gick till himlen” stor. Jag hade laxen över ingefärsmorotspuré med hemgjord succotash som inte var din konserverade succotash och morotspurén var helt otrolig! Mina vänner hade båda räkor och Grits och det var lika fantastiskt. Min lax var så färsk med absolut ingen fiskig smak och grillad helt fuktig. Som om det inte var nog bestämde vi oss för att dela upp 3 desserter inklusive Banana Pudding som var helt klart hemlagad och faktiskt hade bananer i sig. Vi åt också persikopaj och smörkolabrödspudding. Min favorit var Persikopajen som hade färska persikor i sig. Observera att det var maj och persikor är ännu inte i säsong så jag beundrar konditorn som hittade färska persikor i början av maj.

Hemsk upplevelse. Grupp om 12 sitter vid två bord, samtidigt. Ett bord serverat på 30 minuter, det andra bordet ignorerat i en och en halv timme. Inga drycker fylldes på, inga kex erbjöds. Chefen angav att det handlade om att vänta på stekt kyckling! Kyckling är en av specialiteterna! Vi åkte efter utbytet. Värsta upplevelsen på en Charleston restaurang någonsin.

Vi hade en fantastisk middag upplevelse på Poogans! Vi åt på övervåningen. Vår server var vänlig, gav rekommendationer som var utmärkta. Vi har haft färsk läcker sallad, vin räkor och gryn och stekt kyckling, alla läckra. Skulle starkt rekommendera

Gör dig själv en tjänst och spendera dina pengar någon annanstans. Maten här var inte väl kryddad och extremt dyrt för vad du fick. Servitrisen var medelmåttig i bästa fall. Blev besviken eftersom det rekommenderades av många.

Min man och jag njöt av en utsökt middag på Poogans Porch. Vi delade Hushpuppies, Chicken and Dumplings och Kungsfisken. Så gott! 

Vi var stekte på övervåningen i ett bakre rum och det var högt och saknade atmosfär. De andra rummen verkade lite mer inbjudande liksom verandorna. Vi skulle definitivt återvända för en annan måltid.

En snabb sökning visar att Poogan’s har de bästa räkorna och grynen i Charleston - INTE ens i närheten. . . Jag blev väldigt besviken på den intetsägande rätten med några små räkor och vad som smakade som instant grits. Det var inte bara den minimala mängd som var möjlig att kalla det en maträtt, maximera vinsten, kvaliteten var nästan en förolämpning i förhållande till det pris som togs ut. Spara dina pengar. BTW, Hyman’s Carolina Delight håller för närvarande de bästa grynen i Charleston och nära det bästa jag ätit (Caffe Rel). De stekta gröna tomaterna var ett skämt på 15 dollar. Överpanerade och nybörjarkocken försökte sig på någon form av curry - korianderbaserad sås som övermannar det centrala temat.
