Brenda and I were delighted to try out Kevin Johnson's The Grocery in Charleston last night after dining almost weekly at Kevin's other restaurant Lola Rose in Mount Pleasant.  When we arrived at the Grocery we were immediately seated at a great table by host Deede and Will our server brought us Sparking water with limes in wine glasses, and our favorite Grey Goose martinis mixed perfectly by the bartender.  We started with Sourdough Boule,  Steak Tartare, Fried Oysters and the Broccoli Salad. The Broccoli Salad is over the top delicious best salad we have ever had.  For our next course we tried the French Onion Hash Brown and the Spaghetti & Crab accompanied by a bottle of Coteaux du Giennois.  Manager Stephanie made sure we were ok as we watched the customers enjoying themselves in a very sophisticated build out with an upscale low to medium volume vibe.  We highly recommend the Grocery for gourmet healthy farm to table amazingly delicious food service and atmosphere.

Excellent drink menu,  delicious small plates. The pork belly,  peaches, and eggplant plates were all very well done,  and I normally avoid eggplant. Everything is well balanced and thoughtfully constructed.

The potatoes with the steak were uniquely prepared,  thin sliced, and then restocked.

The Au Pear cocktail was delicious but a tad small, or at least that was my perception.

Would absolutely come back.  Rachel was our server,  she was very helpful and accommodating.

The Grocery is absolutely amazing! I love their farm-to-table approach, and the service was excellent too. I highly recommend this restaurant—it’s become one of my new favorite places to eat in Charleston!

The food was excellent. They appear to use seasonal veggies, which is nice. The service was good, but not great. The menu is limited and changes regularly. Anything below $25 is only one serving. Ask the server to explain anything you are curious about because the menu doesn't do it justice in the explanation. It's great to use big words, but if I have to look it up on Google I might not order it. For example I ordered the por Milanese. Essentially it is a fried pork cutlet. And it was great, but if the server had not explained, I would not have ordered. Not dog friendly.
