Tucked away off of the busy and bustling King Street in downtown Charleston is the quaint and charming Kings Courtyard Inn . Nestled in the heart of Charleston's historic district on lower King Street, the hotel is conveniently located to both historic attractions , high end shopping and fine dining. Built in 1853, the inn is one of the oldest buildings on King Street. We recently visited the hotel as the Kings Courtyard Inn is the first stop in Circa 1886's Progressive Dinner. We enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres inside the quaint courtyard. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and we enjoyed the beautiful Christmas tree on display in the courtyard. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and this hotel is one I would consider for a staycation and one I would recommend to others visiting Charleston.

Enjoyed four days in an excellent hotel in the heart of everything. It's an older hotel with the usual squeaky wooden floors, so if you want a modern type hotel you need to look elsewhere away from the activities and do a long walk to sightsee. Pros Best location. In the middle of everything. Ideally located right on king street near the French quarter. This location is within walking distance to many of the attractions that Charleston has to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed a 3 night extended weekend stay here over the St. Patrick's Day weekend. You could literally watch the parade go by from the front of the building. The rooms are nicely appointed with stunning wooden floors - the beds are standard and slightly firm perfect for most sleepers. There are lots of usb plugs and outlets to charge your devices too. Continental breakfast is also offered every morning; you can opt to get it delivered to your room or eat out in courtyard. There's even an evening wine and snack service out in the courtyard. Sherry service in the lobby as well. You can also park and stay here as there is a lot behind the building at a reasonable rate. Looking forward for our next trip to Charleston and will definitely stay here next time.

We couldn't have imagined a more charming place to stay. The hotel is in an historic building and much of its charm is due to that. The location is ideal for exploring the surrounding area, the staff are all truly dedicated professionals, and we enjoyed the evening wine and sherry events. The hotel has several beautiful courtyards, and the beds and rooms are impeccable as were the beautiful high ceiling in the room. .We definitely had a wonderful stay and will undoubtedly stay here on our next visit after falling in love with this oasis.

It is an old historic hotel which is pretty in its old historic way. Our room was pretty and clean. The breakfast is decent, or average hotel items like pastries, yogurt, fruit. The one thing they could improve on is the evening wine and cheese hour. We had to go to the hotel next door and sat in this small room where I felt like I was at a wake. The room had no ambience at all.The cheese consisted of small cubes on a plate and you got a zip lock bag of crackers. The hotel has a beautiful courtyard, living room area or even the breakfast area would have been nicer for the wine and cheese hour. Some music would help also. Would we stay there again? Probably not

My GFs and I planned a girls trip and made a horrible decision by choosing this hotel. This was a complete bait and switch !!!!!! The rooms they show on line are not at all the rooms they actually have - we were told there would be 2 queen beds in our very spacious room with a fireplace- reality was that our room was the size of a shoe box for 4 of us & the beds were full size beds If that and NO fireplace . This hotel has NO amenities and they charge you $10 to use the gym per day. The breakfast in the morning is pretty much toast and hard boiled eggs and the wine and cheese HH is a joke. I had to give it one star because it does have a great location but there are so many other hotels in this area. My advice to you is RUN Do NOT stay here it isn't worth the money !!!!

We absolutely loved our stay here. Amazing location and super friendly and helpful staff. The room was simple and cute. Guests have to be buzzed in from the busy King street so makes you feel safer once inside. They offer a daily continental breakfast that can be enjoyed in person or brought up to your room. They also offer a daily wine and cheese tasting for guests. I love the charm of the historic hotel (a real metal key!) and cannot wait to stay again next time I'm in Charleston.

We had a great stay at the King's Courtyard Inn. It was very conveniently located for all of the things we wanted to see and do. Parking was great. Some might complain about paying a fee but there are definitely more expensive options. If you're wanting a 5 start hotel experience this might not be the place for you but you be paying for the 5 star experience out of your wallet. The wine and cheese hour in the courtyard was surprisingly nice with the breeze funneling from outside. The concierge desk was very helpful in answering a few of the questions we had. PS don't go to Golden & Associates next door

SO happy with our experience. First time in Charleston and picked this Inn based on the location. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The decor is gorgeous - definitely feels like a historic Charleston hotel. They have complimentary sherry all day and night, wine and cheese tasting every day from 5pm - 6pm AND continental breakfast offered each morning. The Inn has made our experience extremely enjoyable. Also, nice perk is they provide waterbottles in the lobby which is great for people who dont want to drink out of the tap, like me. You will not be disappointed with your stay. Will be coming back!

Looking at all those pictures is like looking at a totally different hotel. I'd want to stay there if the pictures were the reality I just left. The room we had was drab, no wall art, missing a valance and had an old, TINY unappealing bathroom. TV remote didn't work. Breakfast and happy hour food was marginal at best. Front door to hotel did not work, nor did security system so we had to use the back entrance all the time. It was Super 8 quality at $400+ a night. For the price, you can find better.
