NOT a dog-friendly hotel. They accept dogs, and advertise that they give you a "Moxy" bowl upon arrival (which didn't happen), but there is not a place for dogs to use the restroom except across the four lanes of traffic - across the street. Even there, I don't see this as a very safe area. Just not at all worth the price. We chose the corner room for a view - room was 79 degrees when we entered & we immediately dropped the blackout shades to cool the room. Even after 2 full days of ac going, room never cooled to under 75. There is no fridge or microwave or even a coffee maker in the room. There are two under-the-bed drawers - you're expects to use the 15+ peg/hooks instead. "Desk" is a fold-down all table that rests at an angle.

Stayed here for a work trip and the I will say the place is very quirky. It's nice the Starbucks is on the first floor. It's weird that check in is on the 6th floor and the rooms are all below that. Even more strange was that our two queen bed room was foot to foot. Like one huge bed. See picture. Also that they have a stash closet on each floor to get things you may need while staying. The location is on the fringe of sketch and definitely wouldn't walk around at night but overall a nice place just a little far from the action.

Nice hotel with decent views, small rooms, super friendly staff - probably not the best for business travel. Nice to have a Starbucks on the first floor next to valet but make sure you give at least 30-45 min to get your vehicle when they are not busy.

Such a welcome addition to Downtown Charleston and situated so close to the nightlife. This modern hotel has all of the upscale furnishings you'd like complete with the best view of Charleston you'll find. The rooftop is the crown jewel of The Moxy complete with awesome lounge chairs and tables. It's connected to an elegant bar that hosts a game room with beautiful artwork all over. Much of the hotel has artwork that showcases the beauty and history of Charleston and it makes you feel connected to the city. The rooms are a tad bit on the smaller side, but they do a good job of maximizing storage space while giving you a large bed and amenities like a full size bathroom. I loved my stay here and they make it easy to want to come back! Also, they have a Starbucks to accommodate your caffeine needs.

Overall, the hotel had a nice, modern décor. However, the check-in area was extremely small, located on the 6th floor, and connected to the bar. This made it mildly inconvenient to haul luggage on and off the elevator during check-in. Fortunately, there was no line, but I can imagine it becoming an issue during busy times, with guests queuing in front of the elevator with their bags. The hotel is situated in North Charleston, about a mile and a half from most of the key attractions. This location was also somewhat inconvenient--it was just far enough to make walking a hassle but felt too close to justify an Uber. The room was clean but incredibly small. There wasn't a closet--just a few hooks on the walls. It included a small fold-out desk and a folding chair that hung from one of the hooks. There was no refrigerator or ice machine available. The bathroom, however, was quite nice. At a lower rate, I probably could have overlooked the cramped quarters and justified the value. Unfortunately, we paid over $500 (including taxes and fees), which left me feeling disappointed and somewhat ripped off. The property and room simply didn't justify that price. On a positive note, the bartenders and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Let's first start by saying this is probably a great hotel for a VERY young, loves to party crowd. For someone who doesn't fit that criteria, choose another place. If you live for free drink tokens when you walk into a place, this hotel is for you. Want to sleep, relax and rest? Not for you. The hotel blasts music until 11 pm every night. We quite literally could not sleep until it shut off. The rooms are not quiet whatsoever, so if someone is shutting their door or waking down your hall, you'll know. Incredibly, and I mean incredibly overpriced for what it is. As for the room itself, don't expect a closet, dressers or even shelves to hold your clothes. There are simply hooks on the walls for you to hang everything and a drawer that broke under the bed. Bedding? Nope. It's a quilt thinner than a looseleaf sheet of paper. Light? Aka strobe lights- the fire alarm flashes in the room like someone's taking a picture of you in bed. Constantly. All night. Bathroom? Decent, but no working fan switch, so essentially a steam room. Air? 10/10 until the fan in the AC started making a noise. Location? You can stand at your window and look at the view of the homeless so I think that says enough. However, less than a mile from Kings Street so walking distance to a lot. Rooftop? 10/10 with games and great community area. Valet? An absolute joke. $35 a day for them to not use their own garage and instead use the street parking out back, where you can park yourself for free.... So, all in all, will not be coming back and it is incredibly different from most Mariotts I've stayed in.

This is one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed in. I was obsessed with all the decor and lived the common area on the 6th floor. It was always filled with people conversing and the bar staff was super friendly. Rooms are a bit small but the storage and organization works great. I love that they are dog friendly too! I would definitely stay here again next time we visit Charleston.

So the layout is really weird. You need to walk into the building through the "wrong way" of the valet parking garage area. Not the most well thought out design. They asked us what time we would like to check in, so we said 12pm. We arrived exactly at 12pm and they tell us they overbooked and we couldn't check in until 2pm. One positive, it is a clean hotel, even if the surrounding streets are littered with trash and dog waste. We travel a lot and I can honestly say I wouldn't stay at a Moxy again.

I'm gonna give it 5, but my husband might give it less due to the barking dogs situation. It's a pet friendly hotel, so many fur babies have checked in. It gets loud. I wear earplugs at night, so I can deal with it. It's a cool place. Neat decor. Pleasant staff. You go up to the 6th floor to check in. We were greeted with a welcome drink, which we enjoyed on the spacious patio. We enjoyed the view very much. Comfy bed. My pillow was kinda flat. Great shower!! A nice full length mirror that was slightly concave to make you look shinny. I love that!!! Everything is brand new. It just opened. There is a Starbucks in the lobby. Valet parking.
