First and last time traveling by greyhound bus lines. Unorganized, closed bus stops with long waits and no bathroom facilities. Vending machines are very overpriced and most of the prices are unknown until you purchase. Filthy bus stations. Rude counter employees. I could go on and on. It was like a trip in the Twilight Zone!

Growing up in Texas, using Greyhound was usually a last resort on getting from point a to point b. Now that I've moved to the East Coast, it is more likely that one is going to find himself on the bus headed somewhere up-and-down the I-95 corridor. I have to admit that they've made some updates to their buses. The buses I have seen are newer, Wi-Fi is now included (if you are lucky), and overall it's a more comfortable ride that it was maybe a couple years ago. It is still sparse, and there are still the lottery issues with connecting buses but overall I have to say that Greyhound does seem to be improving from their somewhat sordid past.

As long as you understand and accept that when you ride greyhound you are riding a service that has absolutely concern for the customers comfort, greyhound is the fine to ride. You get what you pay for. If a bus is delayed and connecting bus missed the drivers and stations have no control over the timetable. If the timetable says that the next bus comes at 5 AM and you get in at 7 PM, so be it. The world of greyhound is a lottery, except the odds are in the passengers favor most of the time. However buses can and do run late and connections can be missed. If you can't afford an extra $60 for a 39 hotel room and two $10 cab rides then yes, you will be sleeping in a cold station, but that is only the nature of the lottery you play when you ride greyhound. I understand that and I am still a satisfied customer. My tip: Knox Abbott Masters inn is close and cheap and should be less than a $12 taxi fare each way. For shorter layovers, Starbucks is walkable and much nicer to wait at if your layover is going to be a few hours.

9/17/18 Train cancelled due to hurricane flooding so checked Greyhound for bus from DC to Columbia SC for 9/19/18. They were selling tickets for a bus that went thru Fayetteville NC which I knew was flooded. Purchased tickets from DC to Charlotte NC, and then tickets from Charlotte to Columbia 9/20/18. Went to board bus in DC and they said busses were not going beyond Richmond VA. Busses to Charlotte cancelled. Busses from Charlotte to Columbia cancelled. Was issued immediate refund for DC to Charlotte. Called refunds for refund Charlotte to Columbia.Refused refund. Had to call station to confirm bus cancelled, open case, investigate, resolution.Supervisor refused to speak with me.Their superior was on a long long long phone call and could not talk to me. Transferred to "customer service." Same runaround. Greyhound cancelled my bus to Charlotte, but if bus ran from Charlotte to Columbia, and I was not there, no refund! Claimed it would take 24 hours to prove bus cancelled.Did not matter they cancelled my bus to Charlotte. Almost two hours on phone getting run around. Turned over to my credit card company. Greyhound is ripping people off.

I used to take all kind of buses when I was in the north. So, I know what luxurious bus mean. My experience with Greyhound in South Carolina was not that fortunate. I will give them credits for being on time and friendly. However, the bus was old, had a bathroom smell that whole time (even though that nobody used the bathroom for the whole 2 hours of the trip). And plus, the bus was shaking, and the engine had a very loud sound. Seats and windows were not clean either. NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
