Currently studying for a big exam, and my thoughtful husband treated me to a staycation, for some peace and quiet. The staff was so friendly and attentive, and check in was very simple and quick. I liked that the elevators require a room key to access. They offer valet parking, but I was able to find a spot pretty close. I love the smell of Starbucks in the lobby - and the fact that they have one on site. Forgot to take a picture but they have a large desk area that was a perfect spot to sit and catch up on work and hit the books. The room was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The location is so perfect. Definitely going to convince hubby to let us stay here again for a "staycation" date night. Highly recommend walking to Smoked if you want a really amazing dinner.

Great two night stay in downtown Columbia, SC. The hotel is convenient to everything downtown and within an easy Uber ride to anything else. The room was a little small, but it's a great historic building! It was well appointed and the bed was comfortable. The rooftop bar was icing on the cake! I'd go back for sure!

At first I read the reviews and was like ok it cant be that bad, and laughed at some of the comments about the eggs in the club breakfast, but I can see why it was a point! Holy grossness. Lots of room for improvement here. Staff needs significant training. I think this is what it comes down to. It can be fixed but not sure the commitment is there. If you call to request something, there is no sense of urgency. A call down for towels has a wait time of 45 minutes plus. I overhead the front desk person tell another staff that someone called down for towels and soap because there wasnt any in their room and that they had been waiting fr over 45 mins. Yikes. Not my experience, but important to share. The club breakfast is really disappointing. No coffee, bagels were cut in half (but why), there was no milk for cereal, the half and half dispenser is broken, there is no signage on the hot food, the eggs were full of water and not made properly, there was a sign for oatmeal yet there was none. There were no bowls or spoons left and despite someone coming in to refresh, that was ignored. I went to the front desk and shared my experience in a very optimistic way and the excuse was that there was new management for food and bev and that was it. No offer for even just like a voucher for coffee or anything. I chose this location when I could have stayed at others FOR the club access. The rooms are ok, but definitely a bit beat up. They need some repair. I went into starbucks and they were a bit of a mess, yet when we asked for them to fix something they apologized and said they had new food management staff... seems like that is the excuse everyone there uses for not following through. Not sure if this is run by starbucks or the hotel. Also the rooftop bar. They close early and if needs updating terribly. Everyone is correct. The bartender was fun though! The valet is the only way to park your car because apparently street meters are unsafe to leave your car for the evening, so just a heads up for that. I will say that this outsourced service was well run. I honestly would not stay here again with so many other options. Please retrain and support the staff here better!

Upon entering the lobby, I was greeted and thanked for being a Bonvoy member. As I looked around, I saw a sign for the Vault restaurant, I then asked if it had been a real vault, I was told, yes, the hotel was once a bank. I stayed on the 10th floor. Upon exiting the elevator, I was very pleased with the style and colors of the walls and carpet. The color scheme felt very welcoming and warm. My room (1010) was nicely decorated and welcoming. On the corner by the bathroom, the wood was cracked and in need of a good repair. I wasn't a fan of the blinds and the pull down shade, but that's just my preference. The room was clean. A couple of water bottles were in the room (very helpful). The bathroom had hand soap, which is a plus in my book. Full size body lotion to use was also provided. Shower had good pressure. Toilet flushed as it should. There's a rooftop bar/restaurant that I did not go check out. The Starbucks is on the lower level (also didn't have a chance to try.) if I stay there again, I'll be sure to checkout the rooftop, gym, and other amenities/spaces. This was a lovely stay.

Stayed here as it was close to a concert venue that we were attending. The lobby was clean and pretty. Staff were friendly during check in. There is no parking garage so you either have to park on the street (which is metered until Sat after 2pm) or pay for valet. When we got up to our room it was such a weird layout. We had a massive stain on the carpet next to the bed. Along with the duvet on top being dirty. The lighting in both the room and bathroom leave a lot to be desired. The bathroom didn't have a fan (which was just weird to me). We also found the largest cockroach I have ever seen in my life (it had to be the size of two quarters long) in our room which made us feel some type of way. Overall it was okay but for the price, we will not be returning.

I was booked here for two nights on business. It is a cool, old hotel that was previously a bank I'm told but that seems suspect. There is a huge vault door leading to a bar which is interesting and fun so maybe it was previously a bank. The location is fantastic if you need to be downtown. There are tons of great restaurants around within walking distance. There is a Starbucks in the basement which was super handy and refreshing. Parking is valet, but if you don't want to spend the extra money, you can self-park across the street for cheaper in the public garage. Service was good and housekeeping came every day. I will stay here again if my travels bring me back to Columbia.

Visitors beware : I was team Sheraton downtown Columbia, until the wrong clerk and manager joined Columbia SC . I'm a federal government employee, retired veteran , and titanium elite Bonvoy Elite member! We were treated like a nonmember and did not get checked in ! My bank Chase, paid for the reservation but a clerk quick wanna be mgr name Morgan was very unprofessional at explaining or did not know how to explain why my card was accepted with the bank . He stated it did not, but on 3 way phone with him and mgr Chris , Chase representative stated on a recorded call it was confirmed by Chase they paid for the reservation from my account. Also Mgr Chris was not any better at explaining anything, because I was overcharged. In the past using the same rate, I was now being charged more. I have prior receipts and confirmation of lesser charges. No one asked to see them, because it's in their system as past pymts with my card . The Chase bank representative said all calls was being recorded. Why did mgr Chris say my $200 will go back within 5-7 days if the money was not taken ? ?? Fraud ! I also have filed a claim and report with Chase Bank and with BonVoy Marriott against Sheraton Downtown Columbia SC . I say get new employees who knows how to treat military veterans! They allow young unmarried college students to cohabitate and cause issues with other married military couples. Sheraton in Augusta Georgia is better because of staff professionalism.

This is the go to hotel for the downtown area. There's a Starbucks, a restaurant for tapas adjacent to the front desk, and a rooftop dining area as well. The rooms are always clean and well maintained. The staff goes above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable.

Decided to stay downtown on this visit to USC. Worst decision I've made in a long time. The only plus is that it is centrally located within walking distance of many restaurants. This beautiful old building gives one hope they are staying in a charming old hotel. The A/C thermostats are of the type many hotels tried in the early 90's. That is, they are on a motion detector and the A/C turn off when one is sleeping! I woke up at least six times a night with my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth. Getting up and waving one's arms near the sensor brings about 15 minutes of relief. I nearly hired a homeless guy from the street outside to sit in front of the damn sensor. The club lounge on the 16th floor was poorly staffed /attended to. The fancy coffee machine was inoperable most of the morning on each day, and when the breakfast items such as the eggs or sausage ran out, it was at least 1/2 hour before a watery replacement arrived. The rooftop bar sounded promising, but alas, it lived down to the rest of the experience. Though, the lead bartender was very good and made a good cocktail. Food however, is hand delivered up the elevator wrapped in cellophane and takes an ungodly amount of time to arrive. Truly, I would have been better rested at a Motel 6.
