Have been here twice to see a band. It's a cool, grungy spot to catch a band. My only real complaint is the bathrooms capacity and I'm not sure the AC works because it's like a sweat box in the place. Bartenders were great and the crowd was fun to be around. There's a dancing area, but I dare not go because of it randomly becoming a mosh pit, which I will forever avoid. I like the location and I was able to find parking fairly easily.

New Brookland Tavern was alright. Their music is hit-or-miss and the bar is mediocre at best - I was not impressed with their selection of beers or cocktails. They do have a pretty cool alleyway where you can stop and chat with other patrons. Overall, it's an average bar and venue. Also, as an update: this bar moved to, and is now located on Harden Street in Five Points.

Caught the Bilmuri and Harbour show at NBT. It's a smaller bar with a ton of options. We stuck with Liquid Deaths and enjoyed the show.

NBT might not have the most frills or the best sound or the sparkliest lights but it's the most authentic venue (West) Columbia has had. The beer selection is just enough and costs what you'd expect from any other bar. The staff stay out of the way and let artists run the place at every show i've gone to; that's all you can really ask of a place. Truly a community staple.

Went the New Brookland for a show. Good atmosphere and plenty of room (though not many tables). Didn't try the food, but great bar tender, service, with free-pours.

I'm normally not such a bad sport but I got flagged down trying to use the restroom while my husband paid $40 to get in....I didn't have a wristband to use a bathroom which was in worse condition than a porta John. Meanwhile there's a child under 10 in the bar without a wristband. Does he get to use the bathroom?

Covid food review: Very hygienic. Everyone masked up. Hand sanitizer readily available. Great food (cheese sandwich night)!! And super friendly staff.

Might have tinnitus and an aching neck but looking forward to coming back, love the hardcore atmosphere! Service was cordial. The only downside is that drinks/food is incredibly expensive. All in all a great weekend experience.

Hear me out, this is a decent place to hang and get some drinks, but if your underage and just coming to see local bands, your gonna be treated like shit. Local bands beware, you will also be treated like shit. Our set time was be cut mid performance with no warning, we were locked out for two hours after checking in and the sound guy had the attitude and helpfulness of a 14 yr old prima donna. If we knew it was gonna be this bad, we would've just performed in the parking lot, probably would have been a better turn out too. If you have the option to play at a house show or this bar, pick the damn house show.

I love the New Brookland Tavern! Live shows every night, and sometimes karaoke. They also host events, like the one I'll be going to for Halloween. There is usually a small-to-none cover charge. Inside there is a lot of standing space, few high-top seats, a bar, and a pool table. It's dark and dirty but truly the best live music venue I've been to because of its frequent shows. Now I'm pretty sure you have to be 21+... but they do give you a wristband, so it's possible you can be under 21 to enter, they just may write a big X on your hand.
