Had to run a generator to my dad, who lost power up in Greenville during the storm. He met me halfway in Columbia, and I was pretty hungry, and he said "hey let's stop in Shoney's, it's been forever!" I agreed, and I believe the last year I was here began with a 19. It was like stepping into a time capsule. The buffet wasn't bad, and I feel like people should be allowed to smoke in here.

I honestly don't know why this shoneys has such a low score? The breakfast was amazing. We got sat as soon as we got there. But the most amazing part of restaurant was the staff. Everyone was so happy and caring. The waitress was super kind to me and my wife and especially our daughter. And while we were paying for our food, another employee was playing the claw machine. That employee won a stuff animal and gave it to our daughter! This is what amazing service looks like!

We ordered from the menu and the food was cold. Our waiter had the personality of a rock. She never came back to the table to see if we needed anything else or a refill on our drink.. The food servers at the buffet handle the food with out gloves. Noticed one man picking up spilled food with his bare hands and didn't have a cloth to clean the buffet counter and still no gloves. I don't know how they got an A rating on the door, must know someone.

Well being here for the first time and not knowing there are still a few Shoneys in the area we decided to take a go at it. The parking lot was not full for 12:45pm but sometimes that a sign the something is not that good. The seating was fast, and I saw maybe 30 customers here the breakfast buffet was going on until 3pm then the lunch buffet starts. We wanted lunch so we ordered off the menu. I had. The 3 sliders worth cole slaw which was a long budget patty cut I not 3 pieces with cheese, pickle,and onions. The cole slaw was warm so I left it alone. The food came fast and hot the beverages were unlimited. Our hostess was very helpful and friendly and the restaurant looked dated but as the time went on more people came. Most of the customers were locals even though located 1/4 miles from the interstate. I may come back to try breakfast soon, and prices were not bad for your money.

This place was one of my favorites growing up. We went last weekend for the breakfast buffet and I am still upset about how terrible everything was. The service was fine, and we probably should have complained, but the food off the bar was cold. I thought this was an isolated incident but I spoke to some friends after about how disappointing our experience had been, and they too said the same thing. Their food was cold, and what the did have wasn't great. Maybe would still be ok to order off the menu, but I definitely won't be back for breakfast.

I ordered the teriyaki salmon with rice pilaf and vegetable medley. The salmon was served to me raw. They microwaved it and threw on some Asian teriyaki sauce. The vegetable medley didn't even have salt and the rice had no flavor. Rather than comp the meal I couldn't eat, the manager only removed the cost of the raw microwaved fish filet. Do not eat here.

I would consider going back here just for the waitress. She was very attentive and polite. I felt like she went out of her way to make sure I had the best experience that I could. The fried chicken was also excellent. However the green beans were not edible and the whole place needs a good cleaning. Even the condiment bottles need to be cleaned.
