I was suprised to see the number of negative reviews because my experience at check-in and upon return were absolutely great. I had less than a one minute wait upon arrival to get the car. They gave me options for upgrade (which I declined) and then they gave me options between SUVs (Jeep vs Kia). I got my selection, arrived at the car, got out quickly without any hassle. Upon return, the employee was very helpful and it was also no hassle. I would give them a try.

I have rented cars through Costco Travel and Budget more than 20 times over the years with no problems -- until now. My most recent experience was hands down the worst rental I've ever had with any company. I reserved a car through Costco on July 18, 2025 for Sept 18-21, 2025, with an 8:00 AM pickup/drop-off, at a confirmed price of $207.11. When I arrived at the airport at 5:00 AM, the counter agent (Abdul) refused to release the car until 8:00 AM unless I paid an extra fee -- even when I offered to take a smaller/cheaper car. In the past, I've picked up early or late with no issues as long as I returned on time. I called Budget Customer Care, and the agent assured me there would be no additional fee. Instead, my reservation was changed without my consent to $385.29. The agent admitted the error but couldn't fix it, gave me a case number, and said "accounting" would resolve it. No one followed up. I called again and spoke with Merlinda, who was rude, dismissive, refused to escalate me to a manager, and left me with only another reference number. A third call after returning the car ended the same way: "nothing can be done." To be clear: Budget altered my reservation without my approval. I was nearly overcharged $180. I wasted hours on calls with zero accountability or resolution. This was a complete customer service failure at every level -- counter staff, call center, and management. If you value transparency, fair treatment, and basic accountability, do not rent from Budget.

This company has developed a new scam - a way to squeeze more money out of their customers after the car you rent has been returned. About 2 hours after we dropped off the car, we get a message from Budget that the car has new damage. The proof? A strange photo of some kind of scan they now do after you return the vehicle. There was no damage to the visible eye, yet they wanted to charge us an extra $130 for this "damage." There is no phone number to call and discuss this, although my husband tried for several hours to talk to someone. He went ahead and paid this as it was a nuisance to deal with. We will never rent from Budget again. Never. On top of everything else, the car smelled bad and was dirty when we received it. Not a good company. Hertz is much better and will not charge anyone for normal wear and tear.

Paid in advance for a requested vehicle. Gave it to someone else. Gave us wrong car we found out when exiting and it was a hassle. And, the car smelled like smoke! Terrible counter customer service.

Dates of rental: August 9 - 12, 2023 I have had a number of challenges with various outlets of Budget across the United States over the years and only rent with them because they consistently have the best prices, especially when booking through Costco. Yet for the most part, this was a great experience renting from them through the airport in Nashville. Since I had a reservation and booked in advance, I received an email prior to landing with a space and vehicle information. The family proceeded directly to the second level of the parking garage from the baggage claim and found the car. I did not notice the Fastbreak stand as we entered, had I done so, I would have seen my information there. But even if I had seen it, I would have been confused as there was a printout with someone else's information on it, sitting on the dashboard. I was confused that the car had been given to someone else and would lead to a cluster when trying to leave the parking garage so I brought it to the counter where a brusque agent told me it was old info and took it from me. She also pointed me to where the Fastbreak packets were and then I found my info and we were on our way. The minivan we ordered was fairly basic in terms of options, but it was clean and quite new, so we had no issues with the vehicle. Gas mileage was good and there we no issues with drop off, either. Best of all, no surprise charges after returning the vehicle, either!

If you are renting a car through Budget at the Nashville airport I would recommend you join the Budget fast break. You basically enter your drivers license and info beforehand so you can bypass having to wait in line to pick up your car. The rental car pickup is outside of the terminal on the 2nd floor. The attendant working at the outside location kiosk was not helpful and very rude.

I rented a car on June 29th to drive 8.5 hours to another state. I had my dog with me and I was traveling alone. They gave me a car that wasn't properly checked and just sitting in the worst part of the lot. The car wouldn't start about 7 hours into my trip after I stopped at a gas station. When I finally got it started, I was advised by my parents via phone to drive slow and take it somewhere if possible to be looked at. I made it to auto zone which isn't a true mechanic and they said everything was fine. After this I'm upset, it's hot outside, I'm a woman traveling alone with a small animal who gets hot quick. I make it to my grandmas house and call budget to take the car away because I'm not comfortable driving it. The guy who came to tow it said, yea bad alternator. That's so dangerous! I speak to budget at least 7 different times. I went through the hassle of them saying I never returned the car....CRAZY! Then they promised a full refund. Come today, after seeing a bill of 359 on my account (my original price was 180). I call again. She tells me they won't give a full refund because the system won't allow it. So I'm credited 249..WHAT?! So you're charging me $110 for a broken down car that I used for 8 hours? Customer service is such trash. Don't ever use budget. I should've been given a FULL refund and that's what I was promised. SHAME ON YOU BUDGET.

I had a terrible experience with Budget. Despite having a confirmed reservation, I was left stranded at the airport because they had overbooked and didn't have a vehicle available. The staff offered no solutions or assistance, leaving me in a stressful situation with no car. I would not recommend this company. Two days later a bill hits my credit card for gas, so now I am having to pull my receipt and we took pictures to show we have put gas in it before returning. The attendants were taking the vehicles they could see on their checklist the tank was full.

They charged an additional 50.92 after we returned the car full. The first car was electric and had no fuel agreement.... Highway sheistery. I will use Enterprize in the future. Especially Nashville Airport location. From the overall ratings, it would appear We are not the only dissatisfied customers. Word to the wise: take pictures of gas tank at beginning and at the end before you turn it in. Also video the entire car when you pick it up. Don't let them pin someone else's door-dings on you!! Renter beware.
