Drkmttr is a really cool place to hang out with friends one night and listen to several lesser-known bands play for a couple hours. Be warned: it is very loud when the bands start playing. They have earplugs for $1, but these are usually rock bands playing. First off, the price is unbeatable. I've been to 2 concert nights here and both times and have spent a very reasonable price for tickets, merch, food, and drinks. Tickets are usually about $8 online and $10 at the door for 3 bands! Both concerts I went to, there was some merch a couple of the bands were selling: shirts are only like $20 and CDs were about $5, as opposed to 3 or 4x that price at concerts downtown. Food is actually really good here too! I think the menu changes each night, plus vegan! I ordered a Krab Kake with hearts of palm, artichoke, and chickpeas when they had a menu from The Cumberland Po Boy. Drinks are your typical canned sodas and beers. Overall, last night I spent less than $40 on tickets, a CD from one of the bands, food, AND drinks. Do yourself a favor and visit here for a fun night and if you want to discover some new bands.

This place has some diehard fans and I'd wager most concert-goers either hate or love it. I saw a pretty great show here and have seen some promo for upcoming shows that may bring me back but I'm kind of in the middle on this one. Now, I thought "The End" was about as DIY as Nashville got--I was wrong. This is by far the real deal DIY option for Nashville. The folks who run the place are really friendly, approachable, good people as far as I can tell based on those I interacted with. It's basically a store front. They serve food--vegan--and everything I saw emerge from the kitchen the last time I was hear looked and smelled delicious but I had eaten before the show so I can't vouch personally for taste. If you want a drink at a show here they have PBR for $3 and a couple of Fat Bottom varieties (all can) for $5 each, so they certainly aren't gouging their audience. Tickets for most shows are ridiculously cheap (under $12 in most cases) which is kind of crazy. So c'mon, if you're catching a show buy some merch--some of the acts they get here are top-shelf and have driven some distance to make the show. As mentioned it's totes DIY so they're gonna be lugging their own gear, setting up and selling their own merch, and staging everything themselves to boot. Take care of them and tip your server/bartender too. So, the last show I saw here was pretty booked, 100+ or so I suppose and it's quite a wait and mess for the bathroom at that point so prepare. The middle of the audience (standing room) is in line with the exit door so while they have curtains to block out the streetlight for shows you're going to be staring into bright entry lights if you're not at the front or in the back of the crowd. It's kind of a weird vibe here at times though I suspect that is flexible with the show and in no way in the control of the staff/ownership. What I mean is, I've been to a ton of shows in almost every venue in the area and though at a lot of shows like the kind that drew us out at my recent visit a lot of folks arrive by themselves. Most venues this results in some interaction, some banter about the bands that you're about to see, etc. Most everyone at this past show just kind of hung out head down and zilch on the interaction--which man, has nothing to do with the venue I guess but was super noticeable to me. Parking is a bit of a mess as they have maybe a dozen at most spots and there's not much in the way of decent street parking in the area. If you live in the city Lyft your way over but if you're driving in from further out get there early or you're SOL. Nashville as we know is not big on public transit or really even safe plentiful ride share parking. In short, really glad a thing like this exists as it gives a platform for a lot of acts that might not otherwise play Nashville but recognize what this is if you're coming out and plan accordingly.
