3.5 There is so much good Mexican food -- from many, if not all, of the states/regions -- in Nashville that if one whines that s/he can't find any, I immediately put them on block. I can't waste time with willful ignorance. And, yes, the standard at many of these eateries is the taco.* Tacos are good and all but sometimes you need a break from them. Enter: the mulita. I hadn't had much luck finding these bad boys in Nashville until lately. You always remember your first time so to my understanding, mulitas are sort of like corn torilla-based tortas. The way I had them, the tortilla was more arepa-like and between the two was meat, cheese, onion, cilantro, and guacamole. Super good. Very tasty. Extremely addictive. At El Taco Jalisco, the mulitas are made with thin, standard corn tortillas, meat, cheese, cilantro, and onion. At $2 a pop, I am not going to lose my mind about the lack of relative heft. Perhaps mulita preparation varies by region? Perhaps I got a bargain basement mulita? At $2 a mulita, I'm going to call it a wash. ETJ has a wide variety of meat options so dig in and see what you like. I ordered 4: pollo, asada, chorizo, and barbacoa. The barbacoa was far and away the best meat option. I don't know where or how they're making their bbq, but it was fantastic. Don't get me wrong: all of the meat (and, thus, the mulitas) tasted great but the barbacoa was next level. From what I could see, the kitchen is a food truck connected to the dining room. The guys back there put in some serious work. Something else I noticed was how clean the dining room is. The room is a good size and it's sparkling white. I think this has something to do with the woman who was running the dining room. She was on the phone taking orders, she was directing traffic, she was quality controlling the plates that came out from the back... she did it all. The reason for the 3.5 (rounded up) is that she was the only person who was at all friendly. There were three other young ladies helping her the evening I came in and none greeted, smiled, spoke, or otherwise made me feel welcome in the establishment. I noticed them interacting with other customers in Spanish so, perhaps, it was a perceived language barrier. I speak decent enough Spanish (especially when it comes to food) and at other Mexican restaurants I am greeted in Spanish, respond in Spanish or English and take it from there. Here, I was iced out. I saw one of the women bring my order out and she just left it at the front. After doña ETJ was finished doing all of her jobs, she asked the girl whose food she'd just left on the counter. She motioned to me and the woman in charge gave her a 'then why didn't you give it to him?' look. She, then, called over to me with a smile and gave me my food. So... full story. *If you're paying more than $1.50 for a taco you're doing it all wrong. You are. Feel ashamed.

Definitely wouldn't have imagine this place being super good by the look of it. Place had about 6 tables, pretty small place. No other customers were there till we left because it was around 3pm. We drive by this place everyday since my boyfriend lives near by, I'm glad we finally stopped though. Menu wasn't big but that's okay, it's better to not have so many options. Menu on the board must have been a special because there was a dinner menu they give you when you're seated. Their kitchen was the food truck outside of the building. We got steak tacos and fish tacos. They were so fresh, not over seasoned to the point of salty, and both were cooked perfectly. Will definitely come back and work my way through the menu.

Good traditional Mexican food....the atmosphere is clean and the service was great...I got a simple chicken taco, fish taco with a side of rice and beans. The fish taco for some reason was a little soggy so I didn't like that but would eat there again...

This place is a hidden gem in Antioch...all authentic! The restaurant caters to local Hispanics, however they are super friendly and speak both Spanish and English...but don't expect Taco Bell, instead their food is excellent and one of the best authentic sit-down restaurants in Antioch with lots of regulars. The food is cooked in a taco truck adjacent to the easy-to-miss establishment.

Absolutely delicious. My favorites are the tripa (ask for it crispy), cabeza, and lengua tacos. I am sad they are moving! Nice service staff and very fast service.

Don't order their quesadillas mine had shredded chicken with BONES. I was sharing with my toddler and after I got 4 bones out I stopped scared she might choke on one.Taste like they use whatever is left over. Had more cheese than anything. The other taco truck I go to has like actual chicken bits . Its okay but wont be going back.
