Fun, informative and entertaining. The Johnny Cash Museum is steps off Broadway in Nashville. Whether a fan or not, this is an inexpensive immersion into a true star of music. We dropped in while hopping around Broadway after getting tired of another "fill in the blank" country star bar. So glad we did. It's small so it can be a quick visit but you can also linger for hours reading, listening and watching history. It was fun and if you're a fan of music at all, this should be on your list.

Great compilation of Johnny Cash's life and achievements. The thing I liked the most was how much he admired and honored other artists. That was so nice to see and put a big smile on my face. I also loved seeing people put on the headphones to hear his music and dancing. Super joyful place! It was around $32 to get in.

You have to visit the Johnny Cash Museum Museum is not very big but it has A LOT of information and you will be here for about 1-2 hours Tons of fun facts about his life, career and awards, personal life and how much he has impacted country music. Cool artifacts, clothes, awards, memorabilia, letters he wrote to his wife, photos, videos ect There is a gift shop selling come cool merchandise. I am glad I came here, I learned alot and have a new found respect for him and his music

As someone raised just outside of Washington, DC, where world class museums are a way of life, I've always appreciated when an exhibit doesn't just show artifacts, but tells a story -- one that stays with you. Walking into the Johnny Cash Museum, I hoped to find that. Let me start with this: if you're a Johnny Cash fan or even casually interested in music history, this place is enjoyable. We spent about 90 minutes exploring and even walked away with one of the souvenir photos (yes, we got "locked up" for it). There are some great artifacts, engaging audio features where you can listen to his voice evolve (or not, in his case -- the man's voice stayed solid from youth to twilight), and a chance to see his reach beyond country into gospel, rock, and modern covers. I particularly enjoyed the Sun Records section, which had a tie in to Roy Orbison (a favorite of my mother's) and Elvis (a favorite of my wife's mother). There's also a charming AD with Johnny promoting Acme Boots, pure vintage gold. That said, the museum doesn't quite live up to the potential of Cash's story. The omissions are hard to ignore. There's passing mention of his children (essentially, that they exist), and his first wife is nearly invisible. The museum avoids his struggles with addiction altogether, a defining chapter in both his personal life and musical journey. While I respect curatorial focus, the absence of these key life chapters makes the story feel sanitized. Truthfully, I walked away feeling like I learned more from his Wikipedia page. The layout of the museum also left something to be desired. It felt more like a crowded fan exhibit than a structured journey through a legend's life. Displays are packed in tightly, and it's not always clear where one story ends and another begins. It's as if they're doing their best with the limited square footage, but it ends up feeling a bit chaotic. And speaking of chaotic, it's obviously a major tour stop. While we were there, a tour bus unloaded and suddenly the museum went from manageable to shoulder to shoulder crowded. With the already limited room, it became difficult to linger or absorb the exhibits without being nudged along. That kind of crowding kills the mood of quiet reflection or personal connection to the story. Some of the exhibits also leaned a little cheesy. One example: a facsimile of Johnny Cash's DD 214. While I actually found it interesting to read about his military service, I was underwhelmed that this was how they chose to present it. A grainy photocopy doesn't really do justice to that part of his history. Even a short video segment or a narrated story would've brought more context and meaning. You're left wondering, couldn't we have done better? If you're expecting something on the scale or level of storytelling like the newly expanded exhibits like Graceland, in Memphis, has across the street in their new addition, this falls short. So what is it? It's not quite a museum in the traditional sense. It's part tribute, part merchandise hub, part selfie spot. Maybe it's best described as a Johnny Cash "experience." Just know going in that while it entertains, it may leave you wanting a bit more... not because it wasn't enjoyable, but because he was so much more. The museum tells part of the story. But the man in black deserved the whole song.

I went into this museum not knowing much about Johnny Cash at all. I left with a wealth of knowledge not only about Johnny but also about music of his era, in general. The museum is not that large but you can spend 1-2 hours here for sure. Theres a gift shop in the front. The staff were friendly and helpful. There's many artifacts from Johnny's youth as well as his home, which were fun to see.

The few things I did expect from Johnny Cash Museum were career timelines and outfits he has worn during popular performances. I was truly in awe by the TOTAL experience here. We have returned back home to San Diego two weeks ago AND I'm still raving about the incredible INTERACTIVE exhibits meticulously laid out throughout the museum. This alone makes the museum go up a few notches! The first interactive exhibition is being able to listen to Get Rhythm in its various stages of release. From Vinyl (33/ 45/78 RPM); CD; tape (LIVE version as well); etc. The armory of all of Mr. Cash's records from floor to ceiling! Rooms where you can relax your feet and watch live performances on stage at concerts, live studio audiences, and music videos. Plenty of benches for guests to enjoy his expansive career. One of my favorites is the intimate viewing area of Ragged Old Flag. Our beloved Old Glory is draped down a wall and the music video plays underneath. And the beautiful lyrics are displayed on both sides. My ABSOLUTE favorite interactive audio display is CASH COVERED! This will be towards the end with a wall dedicated to all the music artists from Snoop Dogg, Everlast, Miley Cyrus, etc. There are 3 touch screen monitors with headphones and you can type in the song- which will then show you all the artists that covered the song. You'll be able to hear their rendition. To see everything inside that was owned by Johnny Cash and not replicas is so cool! Restroom is near the end of the exhibit area.

The Johnny Cash Museum was a fun diversion for a rainy morning in Nashville. It's fairly small, but extremely well presented and has some excellent exhibits chronicling the life of the Man in Black. Tickets plus tax are about $30 each, so it is expensive for something that'll take you about an hour to walk through, if you read and watch everything. That being said, there is plenty to look at such as actual clothing he wore, old letters and record contracts, lots of albums, and more. If you are a fan of his Nine Inch Nails cover of Hurt, the chair used in the video is on display. The most interesting thing I saw there was a video showing all the TV and movie appearances that Cash made over the years. I didn't realize he was in as much stuff as he was. In a small room with a repeating video, you'll also see some hats and other props from his screen work, which was cool. Everything is presented through a series of passageways so photo ops can be tight when it is busy. I was still able to get a few shots and they don't mind you taking pictures inside. I am not sure if it was really worth the $60 for my wife and I to both go through, but it was informational and not something you'd want to do more that once.

We decided to check the museum out because we were looking for something to do during the day so we figured why not, now I don't want to be mean about this but this museum is kinda boring. U can probably walk through it in like 20-30 minutes way too quickly specially for what they charge. I mean it's nice to check out the artifacts & listen to the history here but overall am sorry I found it to be a bit boring. If u are a big fan am sure u would feel different & that is alright, for us it was ok overall I would say this is something to check out depending on your interest.

The Johnny Cash Museum is packed full of exhibits that take you through the entire life of Johnny Cash, including some video areas ( I really enjoyed watching clips detailing his acting career. I had no idea he was in some of the shows he was in). The memorabilia was top notch, and seeing the whole scope of his career all laid out together was impressive. I certainly learned a lot that I wasn't aware of before. It was a good way to start my time in Nashville.

I thought I wrote a whole review for this place! I mean what can you say? If you are a fan of Johnny Cash, then you are going to love this place! I will first say, this place is small but there is a lot to see! With that being said, I was obsessively looking through reviews for how long it would typically take to walk through prior to visiting. We only had time our last day and only could squeeze in a 2 hour window, which was perfect because it took us about 1.5 hours to see everything. Even though Johnny Cash was big before my time, I still grew up listening to his music. Of course I also saw the movie, Walk the Line. I took so many pictures but they definitely do the museum justice. We have done a lot of those corny and super overpriced souvenir pictures at places we visited and we had the opportunity here as well. There is a huge gift shop as well. You don't have to pay and go through the museum to purchase items. The gist shop is actually the first area of when you enter the building. I purchased a shot glass, harmonica, and sweatshirt. The staff were friendly and polite. They looked like they enjoyed working there as well.
