Thoroughly professional. Scarily tempting. I've had a surprising number of articles framed by Tom and the attentive staffers at Artworks, personal items and also prints, photographs and art in my capacity running a briefing center at Tivoli and they have never disappointed. They even shadow-boxed and framed my old license plate without batting an eyelash. The framing is done artfully, stylishly, quickly and always ready on time. The suggested colors for matting and molding are always pleasing to the eye, and the end result is an article that looks just as it should on any wall. There is a complete restoration department as well, for old photos or paintings that need a little TLC. Their framing work is not inexpensive, but it is always perfect and worth it. But the gallery of art and artisanal crafts which comprises the well-lit space on West 6th is killing me. It's impossibly beautiful stuff, and increasingly hard to get out of there without spending a small fortune. There is even a room full of art deco and period barware. Crystal, blown glass, woodcraft, metal sculpture, mirrors, art glass--carefully chosen and curated, it's like a museum of fine craftwork and I hate it--it's that good. The nefarious plan has you in the store, waiting for a few minutes as your framed work is produced from out back when something, invariably catches your eye. Damn. I'm wise to you Artworks. I'm keeping my shades on and staring at the wall of frame samples and leaving with my wallet intact.

I love this place! I finally stopped in after a Whole Foods bacon run (3 lbs of thickest-cut Applewood, baby) to find that Artworks still has fantastic collections of stemware and some barware, as well as reasonably-priced, interesting art, in a sunny, beautiful room. I remember first coming here in the late 90's to frame an etching from my trip to Venice and receiving a student discount. At their suggestion, it was framed between two panes of glass to excellent effect, not something I'd have considered myself. Today I nearly bought a gorgeous snifter for $36, or a set of cordial glasses from the 40's for about the same. I'll be back when I have a larger apartment -- and when I again drink alcohol. I've uploaded a photo of the bronze shelf-fish I bought here over 10 years ago.

I'm new to Austin and as a result of that I just had a bunch of personal items mailed here. One framed poster I sent arrived damaged, and after ordering replacement glass, I discovered it didn't fit. Long story short I called Artworks and brought it down. They trimmed my glass right then and there, and put together my poster and frame for no charge. Great service and location (with parking). I hope I have something to frame soon so I can go back there and give them some actual business. Thanks y'all!

Artworks is probably one of the most professional and trustworthy Art Gallery's/Framing Shops, etc, that I have ever dealt with, world wide. I had shipped many pieces from abroad and some of them had chipped during the travel process. I did not know where to turn and happened upon Artworks one day while walking downtown. I spoke with Tom and explained that I was a bit nervous about giving my most cherished pieces to someone I did not know. This was 4 years ago and I still return to Artworks for all of my art needs. I do not even live in Austin anymore and two months ago I planned a trip to Austin just to have Tom and his team frame a new piece I recently purchased. I got the piece last week and was just amazed at how well they did. They exceeded my expectations.

I really wish I had never stepped a foot inside this store because I spent a fortune only to be extremely disappointed. The frame was already chipped when I arrived to pick up my painting, so of course I showed the chip to them (which they hadn't seen), and they said they'd fix it and I could return to pick it up in a week. So I return to pick it up, and it's chipped in another section. I'm not happy. Not only that, but I also had two pictures framed and it was done so horribly that the seams in the corners aren't flush, so instead of looking at the picture or the nice frame, all you notice are the crooked seams and cracks in between the frame pieces where they were poorly attached. It looks like it was put together by a young child as an after school project. What's going on in the back of the store over there? If your only job is to frame things, why can't you do it right? Especially if the customer is charged almost $1,000. I do expect good frame work at that price. I could have had my items framed anywhere and I bet someone would have done a better job. I need to have these items reframed somewhere else, please pm me the best place in Austin to do so and I will be very grateful.

Forget the chain framing shops, Artworks is where it's at! Awesome folks who really know what they are doing. I found this place because I work at UT and we use them to frame things for the office. Dealing with them has always been easy and professional. The end products are exactly what we want and at very reasonable pricing. Realize the chains jack their prices up to make up for crazy sale prices. Artworks doesn't do this, which means you can get a decent frame at a decent price all year long. I brought them a painting my aunt did that was a little cockeyed, something I didn't realize until we started measuring it for framing. I don't know how they did it, but they managed a very nice mat and frame that compensated for the cockeyed nature of the painting. No one ever notices because they did such a great job. Again, this had to be an awful project because of the slant of the border she painted around the image. I couldn't be more happy about the end result. Will never go to another framing shop. These guys are great!

I am a huge fan of these guys. Our house has to be on the most modest end of the spectrum for their clientele and yet they always treat us and our framed wall art as though they truly value our business. They are efficient. They are polite. And they are easy to schedule. We've had them over probably four times now and without exception they have done a top notch job each time. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Wonderful work these guys do here. Museum quality, very friendly. They truly appreciate their craft. I came in with an old family relic, a tapestry my parents had brought back from their honeymoon 30+ years ago and it was literally falling apart, ripped in some places, the frame was bending off of its screws. These guys brought it back to life, it looks better than I have ever seen it and I know it will last for decades more. I forget the name of the man who worked on this piece but he was professional and gentle with my very delicate piece. At first I thought the price was a little high, but it was a very large piece and the work they did was fully worth it. This place does incredible restoration work. I would recommend their services to anyone.

I recently inherited a Henry Faulkner oil painting (Faulkner is famous for sleeping with Tennessee Williams and also having a bourbon chugging goat). It came with a caveat though: it was damaged and if I wanted to keep it I had to fix it myself. I followed a recommendation to artworks. I took the painting in without any research and I handed it over (keep in mind this may be the single most valuable thing I own outside of my house). Rene said he could do it and I went along. For the next week I was raked with doubt; I didn't know anything about Rene and maybe he didn't know anything about my painting. I waited and worried. I picked it up today. It was wonderfully done. The stains on it were gone and the colors were popping. I am very pleased with the work. I think the price was very fair.

This company is absolutely wonderful - their framing is creative and done with the utmost care. They have framed everything from old photographs to contemporary art- large and small. They always do justice to the art. Our home is filled with countless pieces of beautiful glass, original art and all around cool stuff that we have collected from Artworks over the years.
