Worked with Austin Galleries in search of an artist (stone carving) to restore a unique Charles Umlauf sculpture (rose onyx). Ann and Rachel took a great deal of time to find an artist with the skill needed to restore the piece in the way I preferred. And were so kind and patient! We are so happy with the result! Thank you Austin Galleries!

If you are interested in upping your game of interior decor, come to Austin Galleries. The owner, Ann Attal, has been in the art business for 52 years and has amassed a large collection of art object, prints, paintings, sculptures, antiques, fine jewelry and will most likely have whatever your heart desires. Ann is a dream to work with along with her Gallery Director, Laura Bledsoe. I recently purchased a beautiful little bronze sculpture of a filly created by Oneida Uzzell Fry. It is no secret that I'm mad about horses and this little girl is adorable. She is sitting on all fours and her eyes are giving you the "come hither" look. We made an appointment to have our art appraised. Our appointment was at 2:00. Finally at 2:45, I get an email that they won't be able to make it. They asked if they could come out tomorrow. I called and emailed trying to set up times. It's now 3:55 and I have not heard from anyone. They also knew this was the only day we could do it.

We inherited a unique papier mache chess set that had been made in Mexico in the 1960's. The board, which is also the storage cabinet for the oversized chess pieces, was the worse for wear after sixty years of use. Austin Galleries found the right restorers for the job and bid the project reasonably and accurately. We were frankly a little nervous about how well the restored cabinet would meet our expectations, but we were absolutely thrilled by the quality of the work. Thank you Austin Galleries. I recommend Ann and her staff to anyone in need of such services. They were entirely professional and a pleasure to work with.

Calling this place an art gallery is quite funny. It is an older home located west of downtown Austin. It is crammed full of old art that no one wants to buy. Apparently Ann owns the "gallery" (however she is never there) and has a moron named Walter doing most of the "work". If you ever wondered what a 60 year old dressed up like a 22 year old looks like - check it out. I was downsizing my art collection and gave them about 20 pieces on consignment to sell. They did almost nothing. After several months they finally listed some of the pieces on one free website. They charge 30% commission to sell items on consignment which is reasonable. The problem is that the seller has no idea how much the items actually sold for. There is no copy of the invoice or other evidence of the sales price. After nearly a year they finally sold 4 pieces. I retrieved the remaining artwork and sold it thru an auction house within 30 days. My advice is to avoid this "gallery" like the plague.

Avoid dealing with these people at all costs. I consigned a painting in July 2019; Walter was very charming but all he did was list it on a website to which I have access. Then absolutely nothing for a year and a half. Recently I called to tell them that I wanted to collect my painting. Roxanne was very pleasant and said "please give us a couple of days' notice". I called on Thursday morning to ask to collect it the following Tuesday. By then Walter and Roxanne had both left (I wonder why these employees keep leaving? The owner maybe?) I spoke with Cassandra who was very rude and obstructive. She put the phone down on me. Apparently the policy is three business days (Thursday to Tuesday, I'm counting - I get to three days). She told me I could come at 11:30am on Wednesday. I asked to speak to the owner. After some time Cassandra came back to the phone and told me it would now be Wednesday afternoon and rang off. We had to use email to establish a time. They work from a home. No masks. I was invited in to wait. I waited outside. It was an awful experience and there is a chip in the frame now that wasn't there when I consigned it.
