Love coming here and supporting black owned businesses. They're always so sweet and the food always made to order so super fresh when you get it. I got the lemon pepper "wangz" and they're made from oyster mushrooms. An up and coming vegan staple and it was delish and crunchy. They have these bar stools and a high bar to sit at. Parking nearby is the street if you're lucky and the dental office lot that's next door (you pay for parking but I never have so shhh). Overall a great joint and can't wait to try something else. My mind is on the "too-nah" sandwich for next time. :)

I am trying to eat better these days so I wanted to see what the buzz was about. This food truck is located on the corner of 11th street, it's nice and colorful so you can't miss it. Unfortunately, there is street parking. I was able to luck up on a spot not too far away. I ordered the Lemon Pepper Wangz. This included Fried oyster mushrooms, with lemon pepper flavoring & seasoned fries. These "wangz" were so good! I never would have guessed that it wasn't chicken. I probably could've went with a softer fry but overall it was delicious. They offer a variety of vegan meals including nachos, sandwiches, burgers, banana pudding, and even sea moss. They also offer brunch on the weekends which I plan to make it to soon. Even if you're not vegan, Im sure you'll be satified with anything on the menu.

The food is wonderful. But you are going to roast under the sun in the summer or freeze your petunias off in the winter. * * * Community Vegan is a lovely vegan "junk food" truck. You can call it vegan "fun food" if you like. Sandwiches of lovely deep fried stuff, and buckets of deep fried yummy stuff. It is all plant based which means you are getting your healthy vegetables. They toss a lot of interesting stuff on your deep fried sandwiches - and they have interesting dip sauces for the deep fried bucket stuff. But the basic cooking is completely first rate. The food is just fine naked coming out of the fryer. The flavor layers just add to the fun. * * * The truck is located on 11th Street, right near Paperboy and the Vintage Book store. You are next to some of the finest offerings of Austin's Yuppie East Side. Cute stores and art galleries abound. That said - eating at Community Vegan is kind of like going to Foreign Legion Hell. You are on an exposed street corner with no trees, no canopies, no fans and no shade. We ate on one of the cooler days of this Global-Warming-Driven Summer. Only 93 degrees. Out on Community Vegans corner, we were roasting like Thanksgiving turkeys. We were roasting sitting on tall uncomfortable metal stools which did not help matters. I imagine this place gets cooler in summer evenings ... But Community Vegan closes early, long before sundown. I don't think the setting gets more comfortable in winter either. You are at a corner that intersects five streets , so the wind can hit you from a wide variety of angles. Sure, food trucks mean that you eat outside ... But there are a lot of food trucks that set up significantly more comfortable furnishings for the customers. A fan would have done us a world of good. A canopy could have been a lifesaver. Having an Uber driver pick up the food and bring it to our air conditioned domiciles would not be a great alternative solution. This is food that you want to eat straight out of the fryer the minute it is done. Paying a premium to have a home delivery driver bring me lukewarm sodden formerly fried food? I don't think so. * * * Cooking wise Community Vegan is one of the best trucks in our city. If they can make their corner of the planet a little more comfortable, It would be an absolute must-go-to destination. I love what they put in my basket. And if eating at Community Vegan means having to rough it a little ... Well there are some days in Austin Texas, where the temperature is 70 degrees.

Yes, I absolutely recommend this place! Even my husband who is a hard-core meat eater wanted to venture out a try something vegan. We couldn't decide what to try so we had a variety. I ordered the Crab Cake Totchos, so very very good! My sister ordered the Lemon Pepper Wangz, also very tasty, my husband ordered the Beer Battered Cauli Chik'n Sandwich with fries and the Smash Not Pass Cheezeburger, Wow it was all very good and well seasoned. The service was great and speedy, and all of our questions answered with a smile. We also ordered the homemade Lemonades, so refreshing and delicious! Because it is a food trailer the ambience is just okay. The Texas heat is no joke but the food is well worth enduring the sun! I highly recommend giving Community Vegan a try!

Have had their smash burgers & nuggets previously, at their food truck . Was excited to try the current Specials and THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT . Flavors in every layer , warm and melty. I'm coming to find this place with my family! We were treated to bbq at work and the non-meat choice was from this vendor. Let me tell you, the food was not only delicious but beautiful to look at! Presentation is a big deal for me when it comes to dishes and Community Vegan didn't disappoint. The people I talked to were kind and explained the ingredients in the dishes with pride!

Really cool spot in a food truck area with lots of picnic tables outside the truck. I ordered the Crispy BEER BATTERED CAULI CHIKN SANDWICH with WAFFLE FRIES, and it was pretty greasy (that's the only qualm I had was how it was still dripping oil from the grease), but SO delicious! It was literally a huge piece of cauliflower battered & seasoned and then fried. It was so good- I think about it almost everyday of my life since I had it, and if I end up moving to Austin, this will be my monthly meal. The waffle fries were the best waffle fries I've ever had in my life. They were so crispy (which is how I like all my food) and so delicious- no ketchup needed! Will return again, and I highly recommend everyone experiencing this delicious food.

I really wanted to love Community Vegan, but I was disappointed. I tried their wings, and they turned out to be just fried oyster mushrooms. Personally, I was expecting soy or seitan for "wings." It might just be a matter of personal preference, but I was hoping for something different.
