I was in Austin for my annual trip to SXSW, and the downtown hotels were all over $600 a night! That's why I booked this hotel. It's close enough to the suburban theaters (aka the ones across the river), so it wasn't a terrible location for my needs. The hotel is located between nondescript office parks and Austin's busy highway system. I didn't feel unsafe, but it was a little sketchy, especially if you're traveling alone. It was just the vibe I got. It was a relatively quiet area of the city, though. Everything about my stay was a mess, starting with my arrival. First, the front desk ladies seemed to busy to help me when I arrived, talking amongst themselves for a while before even acknowledging me. They were arguing about housekeeping and seemed extremely disorganized and unprofessional. Once they decided to talk to me, they took all of my information but then said check-in is at 4 and to come back later, which was fine, but the lead clerk also said that she'd text me if a room opened up earlier. Of course this never happened. I had to get to film screenings, so my husband headed back at 4:30 to check in. Still no rooms. He said the lobby was full of restless customers, all waiting for rooms. He finally got one around 5:30. Our room was on the first floor by the side entry and exit door. This proved to be an extremely noisy location, and people were coming and going and slamming the exterior door day and night. If you want a more quiet stay, ask for a room on a higher floor or away from the exterior doors. The room was fine, but really worn out, sad and tired. The sofa had some sort of gross stain on the cushion. We turned it over, and there was a huge tear in the fabric. The arm of the couch was also ripped. The furniture in the bedroom had also seen better days, as everything was scuffed and dingy. The carpets were unraveling. This hotel obviously needs some serious attention, TLC, and remodeling to meet Hilton's standards. Half the electrical outlets didn't work. We couldn't get the tv to come on the in the sitting area, and you couldn't charge your devices or use any of the lamp plugs unless you completely turned off the lamp first. We were supposed to get maid service the second night, but no housekeeper ever came. The next day, still no service. We went to the front desk to ask, and the clerk said that we 100% had housekeeping service. We did not. Reluctantly, he agreed to send someone and we got our room serviced (finally), but only one night of our six night stay! That meant we had to repeatedly go ourselves to ask for clean towels and even toilet paper. Yikes. The third night, our toilet overflowed all over the place. This Homewood provided some of the amenities the chain is known for, like coffee in the lobby 24/7, but it was always old and cold. Even the "hot water" for tea was super cold, LOL. The evening reception was only once a week on Wednesday nights. We never had breakfast, but I can only guess what a disaster that must've been. We enjoyed having a two room suite and a full size refrigerator with ice maker, and it was nice being able to spread out and work. But this room was awkwardly laid out and seemed small for a room at Homewood Suites. A big plus is that parking was plentiful and free (but it didn't feel super secure). Considering the service issues and the state of the room, I probably wouldn't stay here again unless and until the property is remodeled. For under $200 a night during one of the busiest times in Austin (and when other properties are $500 to $650 per night), it was fine and met my needs. Otherwise, no thanks.

When looking for a hotel in the Austin area, near where we wanted to be we aimed for two things, free breakfast and free parking. Free parking being the more important of the two. Front desk staff was friendly during our two interactions with them, once during check in and once as I turned in our cards and made sure we didn't have any unexpected charges as we left. They were great explaining that they have two towers and giving directions of which way to go. The buffet was about what we expected out of an included breakfast buffet. Our room was decent enough. I liked we had a little kitchenet in our room that helped with storing some leftovers we had. Though in our we found some obvious wear and tear that I would like to see them improve upon ... like obvious water damage on the bottom of the bathroom door and a few spots on the wall that I think were just bad paint touch ups. Given the location, right near a family members place and about 20 mins away from a number of other family members, we will likely be back here for when we stop in the area.

I stay at Homewood suites often but I was really disappointed here. I called ahead and asked for a crib to be placed in the room and was very pleased when I got to my room and they actually did it. But one side of the pack and play was collapsed. I tried to lock it in place but it was broken. I went downstairs to tell them and ask them to replace it and I was told they don't have any pack and plays. I said well someone put one in my room. After going back and forth a few times she made some calls and was told they knew it was broken but can't find their other one. It was very concerning to me that they think it's appropriate to provide an unsafe place for my infant to sleep. If they would have let me know when they set it up I would have tried to make other arrangements. I wound up making a blanket and pillow barricade on the bed for my 6 month old to sleep in then was so anxious about all the bedding being a suffocation risk I couldn't sleep well but thought it was less risky then the pack and play potentially collapsing in her. When I first walked in the room I was hit with the smell of fish and mildew. The fish smell was coming from the garbage disposal and the mildew smell got stronger anytime the AC ran. The smoke detector went off around 4 am for no reason. Then it kept chirping for low battery the rest of the night. The bathtub had standing water in it when we arrived. There was no dish soap or sponge to wash the dishes in the kitchenette. Though I will say the room was clean and the breakfast was decent and stayed stocked. This facility clearly needs some maintenance and is not up to the usual standards of home wood suites so I would not stay here again.

Staff was nice and friendly. Rooms were the best part. Checkin was a little sloppy. And a bit later I swing by and I asked for a bottle of water on my way out and was told they are for Hilton Honors Members. I am a Member, with gold status. Overall, I did not feel appreciated or as a valued guest. It was not ever acknowledged by the hotel or that I wanted to use my HH Amex. Those little details are usually acknowledged. It was as a little to relaxed for me but friendly and nice and I guess I prefer that if is is one or the other. Not that it really is a deal breaker just didn't have the experience of most Hilton brands including Home2. Final critique is the Shuttle service. Driver was getting off work so just took a Lyft to the airport. I don't blame the situation if I was getting ready to get off work in 30 mins I wouldn't want to do one so I offered to taxi but still should have been like no they drive up to the time they are off. Again I did offer and did not push so I do not hold it against the hotel just wanted to mention it. I did express my review to the hotel and the manager did respond. I really would consider staying here again. Location good. Room exceeded expectations. Everything was clean and employees were friendly. Price point good, but did not really feel it was a deal. I just wanted to give an honest perspective of my experience but do not let anything g you read prevent you from staying here. Overall it was good.

Toilet paper stuffed in the peep hole on front door, invasion of privacy. It's not difficult to replace or put a cover on it. Stuffing paper into it where you can take out from the outside of the door is obscene .

Stayed here a few years ago and the place was warm and friendly, our check in experience was excellent and Leah was very pleasant and helpful, I can also say that the room was clean and quiet. That is the good, the not so good, gym has a sign to get headphones from the front desk, they had no idea what I was talking about, their cleaning service is every three days (states two on the website), the breakfast is sub par and the rest of the staff don't seem to care, don't even make eye contact with you, used to have a happy hour every night, now only on Wednesday, overall I would give it an okay.

Unbelievably terrible. I checked in on a Sunday night with a company account. They said I there was no company account for me. So I decided to pay for a night and we could figure it out in the morning. I ran my card, it said approved, and the clerk told me it was declined even after I showed him my bank app showing it had gone through. Honestly if I didn't know better I would say they just wanted to rob me. So I ran a different card. My company would later get to the bottom of it, not only was my company account sent to them the week before but you guessed it, both my transactions went through so I had to wait to get them both refunded. I had to wait in the lobby the original night 4 hours before this morons allowed me to stay. Unconscionably incompetent.

We had a great experience with this hotel and we were out of our house for a month on a construction project. Everyone was so nice and got us what we needed promptly. We especially appreciated those who served breakfast and did a beautiful job. I also thought the gym was better than average

Staff is excellent especially Verna at breakfast. She goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and maintains the breakfast bar with care and an eye toward quality

This hotel is so old that they have a old ac unit in the room that is so loud when it comes on. It is one of the smallest one bedroom suites we ever been in. It is really a one bedroom studio. We only could stay one night and went to Homewood Suites Downtown.
