Gick för att fira min födelsedag - under vår väntan den vackra dam bartending serveras oss en av de bästa martini's jag har haft i Austin och DH hade Pastis - vi älskade det faktum att de hade Pastis! ! ! DH transporterades tillbaka till Frankrike : ) Vilken bra början på kvällen! Ägaren kom förbi för att chatta och var så engagerande! Älska henne! Vår måltid - ja... Moules Frites är min favorit! Och ankspecialen var av denna värld! [och passade väldigt bra till Chateau Neuf de Pape som vi beställde] Vi avslutade måltiden med Milles Feuilles - lätt men så perfekt! Efter middagen promenerade vi genom loppisen och träffade deras Pasty Chef - Dot. Inte nog med att hon var en fröjd utan bjöd oss på sin speciella tårta - en svart hallon, vit choklad shortcrust tårta [jag har slaktat namnet på den MEN] det var himlen i min mun - OMG jag skulle bada i den om jag kunde! ! Vi hade också möjlighet att träffa deras Chef de Cuisine [jag är ledsen men jag kan inte komma ihåg hans namn] och att säga att han var charmig skulle vara en underdrift. Kom hit med maken på hans födelsedagsmiddag. Receptionisten sa att väntan är ungefär en timme. Förresten, jag ringde i förväg försöker göra reservation och fick veta att de inte gör reservationer för sällskap av två, och det är förståeligt. Restaurangen är antingen dåligt skött eller receptionist damen ville inte ge bordet till oss av några skäl... det finns ingen chans att de håller det bordet för kunden före oss, om det fanns någon, eftersom det bara finns ingen chans att en restaurang skulle hålla en plats öppen i 20 plus minut? Efter att ha väntat från cirka 19.00 blev vi äntligen sittande, beställde och fick vår mat klockan 9. 30 kl. Började dåligt med bartendern och sa att han kunde få mig ett kallt glas för ölet. Väntade i baren i flera minuter efter att vi alla hade våra drinkar, tittade på när han pratade med en annan anställd, väntade och väntade. När jag frågade igen kände jag att jag blev berömd och han påminde mig oförskämt att han sa att han skulle få en och att han skulle göra det. Jag fick den efter att ha frågat igen en tredje gång och den anländer VARM. (detta var en beställning på drygt $ 100 drycker) önskar att jag skulle veta detta innan jag tippade honom. . . . . . . . . argh! !
Vem serverar ett kallt ölglas varmt. . . Vi satt omkring 8. 15 eller så. 4 av vårt parti hade stek frites. De ALLA kom ut sten kallt. Både biffen och friterna. Vi var tvungna att be flera gånger om bröd och smör. Servitrisen försökte skämma oss när vi rapporterade att vår mat var kall genom att högt meddela resten av vårt bord att vi var missnöjda med vår mat och var deras okej. Kan säga att detta var hennes kontroll men det var högt och oförskämt gjort, vilket säkerställde många bord runt oss. Inte säker på vad hon stod för att vinna på det. Personalens pompösa inställning tycktes vara ett mönster för all personal vi kom i kontakt med. Tyvärr på grund av att vi hade 8 i vår grupp fick hon sitt fulla tips och några. definitivt inte dereved eller tjänat.

Vi hade sett så fram emot att äta på Justine's så länge, och jag måste säga att hype bara inte är sant. Denna plats är bara inte värt det! Maten är oerhört dyr och endast genomsnittlig. Medan den unga värdinnan som satt oss var kompetent, var den (antagligen) ägaren eller chefen som struttade runt hela natten i en pälsstol bortom oförskämd - - ignorerar oss för det mesta (även när man försöker få henne uppmärksamhet) men sedan "gracing "oss med en rulle i ögonen och en utslagen huff när jag artigt bad om att komma förbi henne. Våra servitörer var behöriga, men det var för få personal för att tillräckligt betjäna kunderna - - inte servitörens fel, men verkligen off - sätta. Förvänta dig inte att kunna hålla en konversation om du sitter inne, eftersom det inte finns något att baffla ljud och platsen har sittplatser så nära att du inte kan manövrera. Utanför var något, LITT bättre. Om du älskar djurliv, undvika platsen eller allt du kommer att se är att döden droppar från axlarna på några fruktansvärt snooty kvinnor. . . . Sammantaget spenderas dina pengar bättre någon annanstans.

Blev inbjuden att åka dit för en födelsedagsfirande. Jag fick höra att det var ett underbart ställe. Jag blev extremt besviken. Höga priser på medelmåttig fransk mat. Publiken och bruset var fruktansvärda. Tjänsten var i bästa fall prickig. En pretentiös meny. Jag hade en biff med pommes frites. Jag beställde det medium och det kom ut extremt bra gjort. Pommes frites var uppenbarligen ur en låda. Min make har en fläskkotelett som var vardaglig. De andra två personerna hade olika rätter som de hävdade att de gillade men de ser ganska vanliga ut för mig. Jag säger att ostplattan var bra som en förrätt, men det var svårt att skruva upp ost. Dryckerna var också ganska vardagliga. Ingenting att skriva hem om här. En stor besvikelse efter en uppbyggnad.

Detta är en av mina favoritrestauranger i Austin. Älskar menyn, älskar atmosfären och riktigt bra service. Perfekt för grupper eller för en trevlig datumkväll. Rekommendera starkt, men varnas för att det är bullrig.

Vi gick i en stor grupp och hade en härlig tid här. Jag skulle säga att förrätter är värda att komma efter, hoppa över apparna. Escargo var vad du förväntar dig. Charcuterie plattan var en besvikelse, med mycket små delar. Laxcrudo var bra, men en crudo i en fransk bistro verkade konstig.

Jag rekommenderar fisken, lammet och efterrätten. Vin- och cocktaillistan är utmärkt.

Justines har en bisarr inredning, precis ut ur Edgar Allen Poe. Musiken är extremt eklektisk funkadelic till blues för att komma till land - aldrig statiskt. Drick mycket vita och roseviner med våra ostron som var bra! Escargoten var lite tung på vitlöket men annars anbud som det borde vara. Tegelfisk med grönsaker var utsökt. Värt erfarenheten och vi skulle gå igen!
