I second all the awful reviews, this place is a nightmare! The "service" in this hotel is non existant, the manager should not be working in that field. I would put her somewhere in the back away from people! The temperature in the upstairs hallway is toasty in the middle of summer! The parking situation is part of the nightmare experience. I really hope they find better people to run this hotel and fix it up.

The service at this hotel is atrocious. We called ahead to ensure the 2 bedroom suite that we got was still good to go. We called at 4pm. We were told everything was good to go. When we got to the hotel at 6pm the front desk lady stated that the room was not available due to house cleaning not cleaning the room! She then proceeds to call someone (probably the manager) and then offers me 2 1 bedroom suites. Somehow that then gets down to a 1 bedroom suite and a studio suite. At this point I'm furious and asked to speak to a manager. Of course no manager is on site. Could've been a lie. Not quite sure. But whoever the manager is should be ashamed for leaving this young lady on site by herself. This whole thing took about an hour. I'll Never stay here or any Marriott at this point. The services is extremely poor at this point. All of this before the Austin Marathon by the way.

I hate writing bad reviews, but I have to be honest for anyone considering staying her. As a Marriott Titanium Elite Bonvoy Member, I have traveled to many Marriott properties. Some experiences outshine others, however, the embarrassment, harassment, and sheer uncomfortable, unwelcoming experience I had at this location is unfathomable. I base this on my experience being attended by their manager Ms. Hall who should not be allowed to speak to guests or manage the front desk EVER. She is uncouth, unprofessional, unmannerly, tactless, condescending, disrespectful, and everything that a manager working in customer service should not be. The fact that she felt empowered to speak in a demeaning manner to guests is extremely disturbing. Long story short, I was traveling on a room block with cross-country coworkers. We were in Austin for a work event connected to SxSW. Our room block included tax-exempt forms to be completed. First, upon check-in she told me that place I worked that was named on the form does not exist, which is simply not true and completely inaccurate. Second, she then had me fill out my tax-exempt form not once, but twice. She did not accept the first one I filled out because she did not like my signature. She pointed to my signature and said, that I needed "penmanship help" as she publicly made fun of my handwriting and signature in front of her staff and a group of people waiting to check-in. Third, when checking my identification, she accused me of not being the person in the picture. She had the audacity to say I did not look like the identification and that my maiden name was not my last name and who I said I was. Fourth, I was told that I would be charged parking fees even though I did not have a vehicle. When I asked why I was being charged parking fees and not parking a car, I was seriously told by Ms. Hall "because you used the parking lot to walk in here didn't you." Lastly, when I went to my room and used my key card, the key card was not activated and not working. It would not light up the door. Keep in mind, I have been to thousands of hotels all over the world. When I returned to the front desk and shared that the key card was not lighting up I was told that I did not know how to use a door. Turns out you had to pull the door and move around the handle to align it to the lock so you can unlock it. I spent the rest of my trip concerned at night and when leaving my room that my door was not locked properly for safety. I found out later that day that multiple people on the team had issues with their doors throughout their entire stay. One coworker as locked inside of her room and could not get out of her because the lock was not unlocking. Another came back after work to find her bathroom flooded because the toilet had been leaking. This doesn't surprise me as the hotel is in mediocre shape. The rooms are old, smelly, and in desperate need of an upgrade. There is no food at the hotel in the evenings aside from the market that has snacks. On top of that, the area is less than favorable and did not feel safe. There are stores across the street from the hotel but I did not feel safe walking to the stores alone or around that area of town. I gave it two stars because we all survived the experience. We had other coworkers stay closer to the airport at nicer properties that were recently upgraded at the same price and with better amenities. Definitely will not be staying here again or recommending it for anyone else.

I hate writing bad reviews, but I've got to warn ya'll that this place smells terrible. I walked in and was shocked by how smelly it was and my head hurt when I headed out for dinner. The front desk girl was so casual looking and whipped out a calculator and declared that I would be put in an Expedia rate type room (which means the crappiest room). When I got my room, I had issues opening it and thought it was a low battery issue. The maintenance guy saw me and was like you have to pull it a certain way so it opens. WTH. The fridge was wobbly, my sheets were stained and it was loud from freeway traffic. I requested a room transfer and got placed a few doors down. The second room was slightly better. Bathroom door swung a little too close to the toilet so it was a bit tight. The soap bar area was almost at eye/head level with me so I was afraid of hitting my head. The fridge was less wobbly, but the towel bar at the sink was unscrewed/falling. I liked that there was a full size fridge. Location is good and free parking, but there are signs everywhere warning you that they are not responsible for damage to your car. Decent shopping and dining nearby, but there's a lot of random people that cut through the parking lot. The free breakfast in the morning helped mask some of the stench of the hotel. There is a decent pool area, too. Overall, they need to spray and put scents all over the hotel. I would never stay here again!

What could improve? Everything. From a new charge for using the parking lot to almost nothing at the breakfast bar to no caffeinated coffee for the rooms to a really loud air conditioning system, this hotel has really fallen by the wayside. We are not even mentioning the fact that the TV did not work properly and we had to go down twice to get remote controls to make the both the sound and the remainder of the TV work. Worn, tired, and overpriced, there are better options in the area. This will be our last day at this hotel after many years of staying here quarterly. Sad to see them go.

Great modern, affordable hotel for families. Lifetime Marriott Platinum member, 1200+ nights in Marriott so know a few things about hotels. Austin has rapidly become as expensive as major metro areas, especially hotel prices when large events are in town. However, this residence inn does a lot of things right. Located a bit off from most of the major attractions, but is located close to I-35 and a good amount of shopping and dining at Mueller. Calling it university area is stretching it, but a 5 to 10 min drive to UT and 15 min to downtown. Free parking which is great, hotel is not tall, just a few floors, but is fairly easy to navigate with decent amount of parking in the front and back. Nice sized lobby, and friendly check in staff (no issues there). Also breakfast room (complimentary) is right next to check in and is decently spacious so room to work and chat with friends if needed. Residence inn is Marriotts budget long stay brand, with large spacious rooms, mini kitchens, and plenty of seating (large couch). This hotel is also recently built, so still maintained fairly well, nothing really falling apart. Great for couples or anyone looking to sprawl. Bathroom is decent size, could be larger but living room space was the focus. Nice large TV, comfy bed. Wifi worked perfectly. Breakfast was basic but good, great way to start, but not the level of Element which is one of my favorites.

Very nice, well maintained property both inside and outside. Staff is friendly and courteous. Breakfast was on par with other properties. Room was quiet with comfortable bed.

The service is great at this hotel.. no doubt about that... there are a few restaurants in the same parking lot which is nice and there are even more restaurants just across the street so bonus. What isn't quite as good is that is shares a parking lot with Home Depot.. lots of traffic and truck's moving around in there. The hotel itself os nice and a good value. In Austin they have this valet fee at a lot of hotels which can be $50 a night to park your car so think about that before you book downtown. This place it's free.

I can Not say enough about this place .staff was sooo kind and friendly,room was perfect ! It had everything you'd need and the bed soo comfy! This will definitely be our only Austin spot!

No. Never again. I had a magnificent experience at the location in Waco and thought "oh you can't go wrong with the Residence Inn brand" so I called ahead and made reservations upon leaving the other location. The Marriott brand is known for their excellent customer service. Even if they don't get other stuff right they are ALWAYS on point with the customer service! Or so I thought. I guess I expected too much from this location. Check in was awful. Young lady was rude. She seemed annoyed by us even being there. Didn't greet us with a hello, hi, how are you, I hate that you came but what can I do for you? Nothing. We had to initiate the conversation. I asked a question about face covers and I think she had a mini melt down from having to muster the words to answer. Room was comfy and that's why it gets 2*. And that's the ONLY reason. Glasses were in the cabinet still dirty. Not good guys. (Pic below) There is nothing good about this location. Stay away unless you don't value your hard earned dollar.
