I hosted my Big Lebowski themed birthday party at Saengerrunde's bowling alley and it was INCREDIBLE! Six private lanes of bowling, complete with shoes and bowling balls. There was also seating for probably 35 people inside and a massive private rooftop deck with plenty of seating and ambient lighting. Perfection! Working with Brent from start to end was so easy that I thought I had to be missing something. Turns out I was not missing anything; he just never over complicated it! Thank you, Brent! We were allowed access all day but because the aesthetic of the place was perfect for our theme, we didn't need it until about 2 hours before go time. There's a full kitchen and an ice machine so that added to the ease. You can provide your own food and booze, hire a caterer, or utilize the offerings at Sholz Garten (attached). I had a friend do my food, brought my own booze, and hired the other bowling alley operator to bartend (he is TABC certified). In addition to the bartender, I also had to pay for a bowling alley operator (Brent), which makes a lot of sense. The machines are relics and need some professional tending to. That being said, we had zero hold ups to our throwing rocks! We even got a little tour of how these ancient machines work :) Upon the completion of my party, both the bartender and operator hopped to helping us clean. They handled trash and basically all cleaning. We just had to get our stuff out of there. So easy! I'm now searching for another reason to host something here. It's affordable, centrally located, unique, and EASY! Thanks Saengerrunde and Brent!

Oh my goodness, where do I even begin? Reagan, the coordinator for this venue, rocks! I sent Reagan an email last year when I started looking at Austin venues to get married at. Lots of places where people could gather, be merry and have fun! This isn't really your typical wedding venue, but with so much history behind the place and many renovation projects undertaken, it's so charming that I can see why others have used this space!! I sent Reagan the date I wanted, she mentioned the Halle would be $2000 for Fridays and Saturdays. We wanted a Saturday so we paid for only that day. Reagan sent over the contract, we placed a credit card on file as our deposit to secure the date and all was swell!!! The week before our wedding event was to take place, we met up, handed Reagan the check, she went over details as to how to access the venue, was so chill that even though we did not have the space rented Friday, that we could have our stuff there to decorate the day before. I cannot tell you how many Austin venues I had to reach out to that were so pricy and had so many things adding up and it was just so refreshing to have her help us through this. We spent Friday decorating the hall, so many Christmas lights hung. I remember asking Reagan if we needed to bring our own command hooks but she was like we're totally covered on that. If you rent the Halle and also want to use Christmas lights, I'll let you know that she's totally serious. We didn't need a single hook that wasn't already in there. Hidden outlets everywhere everything was already good to go and in place. We had some ladders behind the stage that a maintenance guy fixing the bowling alley spilled the beans was hiding behind there as we brought our own ladder but it wasn't high enough for some of the ceiling areas. As a bride, I got ready behind the Halle Area and in the bowling alley. Even though we didn't pay for that area, Reagan, totally helped out in letting us get ready behind there to help make everything easier for things to come together so we could make our grand entrance through to walk to the stage through those doors. If you're choosing to use this venue, I can't highly recommend Reagan as she's also a mini event planner who's seen lots and can give tips, especially if you use the catering crew as Scholz Garten next door who knows the Halle just as well and makes your life a whole lot easier! We decorated, took the trash out, and left everything as we found it and it was all so easy! A bride on a budget, with friends and family to help set up and take down for a fun day together and we were all good to go! I highly recommend working with Reagan in using this wonderful Halle, so much history, beauty and Austiny enough! Love!! PS. You can BYOB! We had tons of alcohol at our wedding to make sure we'd have an open bar without breaking the bank partying and you do not need a TABC bartender to serve but we had one so we had someone professional making those fun drinks. No open flames, real candles, things that can burn the place down. For good reason, this place is old and we wanna keep it alive. We had sparklers we lit outside on the sidewalk and did our send-off, gorgeous and quiet on 4th of July evening. Perfection.

We attended the annual Maifest at Saengerrunde Hall, last night. The event is put on by the members of the hall, and celebrates the start of spring into summer for Germany. (Yes it's still cold in may there!) The hall itself is really special. There is a large wooden dance floor, a nice stage and a large wooden bar. Behind that area, there is a bowling alley with step that lead to a rooftop patio. The entry fee was $25 all you can eat and drink to include beer. Fantastic! Kids under 12 are free. Even better. The food was almost authentic German, with the red cabbage being my favorite of the night. You wouldn't believe how many places get something so simple, so wrong. There was plenty of good to eat... so no one missed out. After eating they switched into choir mode, with the men's and women's singing. They sing only in german and the songs were lovely. After that, a band plays polka music and the members danced. It was really a fun experience. The only thing I wished different was the age groups. There weren't very many younger people in attendance. Mostly senior citizens, which they were very nice, but hopefully the membership will grow to include younger generations. ;)

We held an 80's Prom for our adult kickball league that was EPIC. I was skeptical at first, the owner of the hall just made it seem FAR too easy. It is sad to think that I am so jaded by past experiences with venues that I just assumed if it was too easy, something must be wrong. Luckily my mind was put at ease the moment I walked in the door. The hall was perfect. TONS of room, HUGE dance floor, bar/kitchen access and freedom. The owner just let us in and then left. We were able to bring in our own alcohol and whatever else we wanted. To top it all off, it was the most affordable venue in town and I would say by far the best. $1200 for a Friday night with no other hidden fees.

We had our wedding ceremony & reception here on January 13th & it was perfect! The venue manager, Reagan, is awesome. She's quick to respond & very accommodating. You'll love her. The venue itself is huge. It's a little plain, but that leaves you so many options for decorating. And being that I was an extreme DIY bride I loved that. Also, since they are unlicensed there aren't any rules about what food and drinks you can bring in which was really great! As far as price goes- for the time you have it (all day!) you really can't beat it. Some of the other venues we looked at were double the price for only 8 hours-- and that didn't include tables & chairs. And while we're on price, we hired their bartenders (who were amazing) & they were very reasonably priced for the level of service they provided. We were really going for an "Austin-y" wedding so it was important to have something close to downtown. This was just a quick Uber ride to downtown and many of our guests even opted to walk to our downtown after party! We couldn't ask for a better location. We did our "first look" pictures at the capital and then it was just a 5 minute car ride to the venue. Love the location! All in all we are very pleased with our decision to have our wedding at Saengerrunde Hall.

Saengerrunde Hall was a perfect fit for my daughter's wedding reception. It's a fantastic space with a great dance floor, a stage for the band, a bowling alley, a rooftop area and much much more! We wanted to have the reception somewhere unique, not the same old hotel conference room or far away lake place that makes driving back to the hotel dangerous. We found Saengerrunde and fell in love! It's rich with Texas history and a completely fun place to be! One of the best things was that's it's BYOB so you can save thousands of dollars on your event. It also has excellent parking and the AC worked great. I very highly recommend this place!

I tried to find this place with friends and even attempted to call but got my call sent to a google phone number cause they were closed for holidays. This is my shortest review, eek... will update when I get to visit this place. Good for private events from what I hear.

"Saengerrunde" is the name of the extant singing society formed by German immigrants in Austin after the Civil War. It's also the name of the hall where they meet. Last night, Saengerrunde Hall also the site of a lot of happy gay people dressed like cowboys. At the Texas Swing Music Festival & Side Show to benefit Project Transitions (http://projecttransitions.org/), we got two-step lessons (not that it helped me or my wife ... we have four left feet between us), heaping plates of barbecue (catered by Green Mesquite, which apparently is owned by the same folks who own the Hall), and some fantastic music courtesy of the Derailers (a favorite band of mine for about 15 years now). It's a space that can accommodate 200 easily. There's a big dance floor. The acoustics are boomy, they way they should be in a great old Texas dance hall. I haven't tried to rent this space for an event; I'm reviewing as an attendee only. So I don't know what hoops an organizer has to jump through. But if I needed a hall for an event for 100-200 people, this place would be on my short list of Austin venues.

I wanted to send some major love to the staff at Saengerrunde Hall! As a wedding coordinator I have worked in plenty of venues in Austin and I have seen it all! The Hall itself is a little old and pretty bare but in some ways that makes it easier to transform. You don't have to worry about the same things you would at a new facility or someplace very ornate. Best of all it is centrally located right next to downtown - a huge plus for your guests! The staff at the Hall is just so helpful and accommodating. I never had a problem getting in touch with someone when I had a question and I was always able to book an appointment to view the space when I needed to meet there with my clients. I just did a wedding there this past weekend - if ever I had a questions or if an issue arose with the party - there was always a smiling face there to assist me!

When the hall is decorated for events like Maifest, Austoberfest, Weinachten dance etc. it feels like you are in Germany. A welcoming group of people, a good size dance floor and good entertainment to boot.
