I wasn't planning on posting a review, but given the uniformly negative critiques at this writing, I feel like some defense of the place is needed. Agreed with others re: the Sentral rebranding: and the default address on Google Maps shows the complex formerly known as the Indie, half a block west of here - this has confused everyone from my mom to rideshare companies. I've lived here since last October, and managed to get in shortly before rental demand went through the roof citywide. Yes, rents have increased, but that's directly in response to much-increased demand - presumably from many of the folks who'd've otherwise bought a home by now, but have been unable to do so given the crazy real estate market at present - and, if anything, have risen significantly LESS than elsewhere in town in similar locales (e.g. not in downtown proper, but within 1-2 miles of it). The rents at my former complex on S. Lamar have increased a full 50% since last November! Over the past 4-5 years I've looked at nearly EVERY apartment complex in or near downtown, and Sentral *definitely* has the nicest finish-out of anything other than much more pricey downtown high-rises. Yes, it's ill-advised to get an apartment near the alley, but I would've argued that even before they moved some dumpsters back there (and, just to clarify, we had *zero* dumpsters before that - the building has valet trash, but getting rid of anything they won't pick up was a major PITA). And yes, there are sometimes noise issues - it's the middle of freakin' Sixth Street! (East Sixth, but still - we have a dozen bars within barely a block's distance along with numerous restaurants & food trucks, so if you're looking for peace & quiet, you'd probably be better off out in Cedar Park or something) I haven't had many problems with my unit, but the few times I've had, they've dispatched a maintenance person almost immediately - and this was the case both before & after the transition/sale from Lincoln to Daydream. Otherwise, the problems here are largely the same as those in any other centrally located complex - though I'd argue they're less of one here, given its unusually small size (only 25 units per floor - versus a complex covering four entire BLOCKS a short distance away, namely Saltillo). Yes, the elevator's been having problems, but that's really not that unusual, either; my last, much larger complex had *two* elevators that were *both* routinely out-of-service - and friends of mine in similar complexes report the same - and in my old complex's case, the emergency exits let out next to the dumpster in a far corner of the ground-floor garage. At least at Sentral I can park next to the stairs that are just down the hall from my unit! (That said, I do think they should've installed two from the get-go. Even when the elevator's working, it's a major PITA to use it on any days people are moving in.) Yes, crime can be a problem - though that's true for everywhere else this close to downtown as well - but unlike other area complexes, Sentral has a fully gated parking garage that mitigates it to a considerable degree. We also have parcel lockers for most deliveries, and of the ones dropped off at my unit, none have been stolen (versus 40% or so stolen at my last complex). That being said, the lockers have both individual ones as well as a huge six-foot-tall one that Amazon in particular tends to dump its Prime deliveries into. Sorting through them is a minor hassle, but unlike Grant M., I'd point out that a) renting retail space to a cafe has zilch to do with lockers (plus every newer complex in Central East Austin has ground-floor retail); and b) there's nowhere to put additional lockers, plus they usually have ample room except during the holiday season when people get Xmas presents & the like delivered. Finally, the office doesn't "close on whim." Like everywhere else in town, they had limited in-person services due to the pandemic, and if it's closed it usually means a leasing agent is giving a tour of the building. Yes, it'd be nice to have more than one agent in the building, but a) nearly everywhere is short-staffed nowadays; b) there's not really much point in manning the leasing office if every unit is occupied, as has been the case for most of 2021; and c) you can always reach their emergency maintenance person by calling the main line, though he admittedly splits his time between the two Sentral complexes (formerly Candela & Indie). P.S. Don't want an overly noisy unit with the potential for bad odors? Don't rent an apartment near the alley! It's not the complex's fault if a given resident chooses poorly in selecting a unit. I may have more experience in this area than some, but I could tell the first time I toured the place - back when they had numerous types of units available - that the quietest ones would be the units facing west / downtown & halfway between the alley & street. Have had zero noise or smell issues.

If you need assistance in any capacity they will NOT be there to help you. Never received an email 24 hours prior to check in. Received information on how to check in 3 hours AFTER check in and had to hunt down people to help get an access code for building and room. No help on where to park, how to get into our unit or even what direction it was in. "Street parking " prior to check in was a joke after seeing the location. Had to pay $9 to park car to check in because there is nowhere to unload. Also nowhere on the booking site does it state it is $20 a night to park. Cheap furniture. Couch is cardboard, good luck watching anything on the tv. Unit smelled like someone used the restroom seconds before walking in, we had to check closet doors to make sure nobody was hiding in there it smelled so foul. Dumb place. Stay at a real hotel instead.

I stayed here during a sitting I did for a client I dog sit for and honestly the interior is incredibly cute & the price is well worth it especially with all it has to offer in the vicinity.

Don't stay here if you might possibly arrive late or you plane might be delayed - if there are issues with your electronic door lock, no one will come. They will text you, but not send anyone to come. It is now 2am and we have been communicating with them for 2 hours and I am guessing that the 24/7 assistance is AI as the same messages keep recycling We are sleeping in the hallway and the management clearly doesn't care. On the positive side the hall way is clean

My stay at the Sentral is Austin was great. Penny and Emi were wonderful. They were accommodating, friendly and very efficient. My stay would not have been as pleasant without their kindness and attention to detail.

If looking for a NICE, COMFORTABLE, and QUIET place to stay in Austin, TX then KEEP LOOKING! This was the WORST experience I have had in any hotel, Airbnb, or other rental of my life. That says a lot because I use to travel often for work. I had to ask the front desk to send me the check-in information, which is fine. It was the NON-STOP PARTYING that was not ideal. I let the staff at Sentral know about the problem when I was still up at 2 AM after taking a 6 AM flight that morning to Austin from Cincinnati, Ohio. Their reply was "Hi Lori, I apologise for the incenience cause to you, for noise complaints please contact the below number: Security 512-858-4746. (the misspellings are in fact the true text message). The next morning the party started up again at about 10 AM sharp and I was over it. We had to pack our stuff and scramble to get a new hotel stay. I did speak to the front desk before we left who stated that ALL of the employees outside of herself were off for the President's day weekend (which makes no sense) and that she got confirmation from management that we would get all of our money back because of the terrible experience. When I got home their story changed stating that I did have to pay for the one night which is fine if I had not been told prior that I would be refunded completely. This place is a joke. SO MY recommendation would be DO NOT STAY HERE if you want to rest. If you want a nice hotel, I can not say better things about the OTIS. They seem to care about their guests unlike this half hotel/airbnb/party frat house.

Terrible apartment for a luxurious price. They advertise as a luxury apartment and charge you that much. The luxury is having good looking tiles and a gas stove. Everything else is a nightmare. There have been multiple crimes committed on property since I've lived here. I've had 2 bikes stolen and multiple packages stolen. Management has not offered any assistance in helping with police reports , cameras, or even the slightest bit concerned. There has also been multiple assaults in the alley. Check the police crime reports for the area. In the year I lived here my air conditioner has broken 5 times. Sometimes it takes maintenance 2-4 days to fix. So try living in the texas heat on the top floor with no AC for 3 days. The absolute worst part of the place is the vent flap. There is a vent flap that smashes against the vents outside anytime there is a breeze more than 3mph. This sound echoes through your entire apartment all day and all night. When it's really windy be prepared not to sleep. Overall I've had a terrible experience here and would not recommend anyone pay this premium price. Tip: the Arnold across the street is a lot cheaper for the exact same amenities.

Let's start with the bad. 2 things... 1) If the person above you is a heavy walker and gets up earlier or stays up later than you, you will be greatly impacted in a negative way. That's typical of newer apartments but I did not expect it HERE and was really caught off guard. To get less interrupted sleep, I have had to change my schedule and start getting up earlier. It's not the end of the world but definitely not ideal. 2) No guest parking. Tons of street parking so not a huge deal but guests may find it inconvenient. Even with these issues I am leaving 5 stars because it seems management controls the controllables quite well. I specifically want to shout out to Allan in the front office for mediating a horrible situation with my new upstairs neighbor. Long story-short, everything was absolutely great all summer then a new upstairs neighbor moved in. They would wake up between 345am-5am and stomp walk like their life depended on it. I am almost certain they thought this place had condo specs or something but then they became passive aggressive for several days, and things kept escalating. I then reported to Allan in the front office, there was drastic change same day. Stomping reduced by 95% and the passive aggressive early morning furniture moving stopped. Same day results! Having effective management is priceless these days. Big thank you to Allan. Now for the GOOD! +The apartment is gorgeous. Concrete floors, very high ceilings, glass tile, giant windows, good appliances, good fixtures. For a non-high rise apartment this is pretty much at the top. It's lacking in square footage (under 900sqft) but with the tall windows and high ceilings it still feels very open. +Management. Very responsive and actually listen. The building is cleaned regularly. The hallway smells clean 99% of the time. Even outside around the building is cleaner than expected. Also, I needed a new air filter and maintenance was at my door in 30 minutes. +Gym. Although it is across the street, it is well stocked and never completely packed. There is a free standing rack with probably 400lbs, DBs go up to 110lbs, they have a hamstring curl machine but it just recently broke.(thought I was going to have to drive to Lifetime everyday) +Safety. I was initially concerned about crime and the unhoused population but it feels very safe. The parking garage seems to be very safe. If you ever go in the back alley after midnight to walk your dog after a night out or something, you will occasionally see unhoused people going through the dumpsters but they pretty much act like they don't see you or they leave. This is a city issue though and happens everywhere around here. +Neighbors. When moving somewhere like this you would expect good neighbors and that seems to be the case...other than the upstairs neighbor, initially. Seems like mostly young/young-ish professionals. I rarely see any children. Some of the units are reserved for hotel guests but there's never been an issue. +Location. Something to do every night of the week outside your door. Easy drive to town lake and downtown. In closing, as far as apartments go, this place is absolutely worth checking out. I think it's a little more expensive than the neighboring complexes but after being to the other complexes....worth it.

I love this apartment! I've lived here since it's inception and it's been an amazing home for me. I just wanted to take time to acknowledge how amazing, open, and communicative Daydream management has been. I'm hard to please and these guys have really impressed me! After living in some horribly managed apartments, this has been a nice change of pace. I can see myself living here for many years and continuing to tell my friends how much I love it! Amenities: - having the exact same name as the building 100 feet away so 50% of your food deliveries are to the wrong place!!
