Dancing is fun and they play your standard Texas musician groupings from houston rap to southern rap and back. It was totally dead on a Thursday night and there were only a few awkward dudes sitting at a booth staring while I tried to dance and fend off a tool of epic proportions. Didn't stay here long. Probably wouldn't have wanted to.

I jive with Vinita's review. I wanted to go with three stars since two seems harsh, but I dunno if I can say "a-ok" to Suite 101. I get grumpy about any sort of cover charge these days, but I think peeps are catching on, there is no need if I'm going to booze it up in your club. So, points awarded for free entry. A bonus point to the DJ who was nice and accommodated our multiple requests when we first arrived (then again, why not, we were pretty much the only ones there). In between our requested tunes there was some weird stuff that kinda cramped the dance moves a bit, boo. Worth noting he looked like Masuka from Dexter which kept cracking us up. I'm also awarding a star because of the free booze. Free vodka until 11 when we were there. and, there are poles. That could be fun. If you are a Dexter fan and free booze, and this is on your pre-party route, stop in. Otherwise, no real need to out of your way.

For Austinites who want a little GTL in their life, this place is your mecca. I stumbled into here with a girlfriend Saturday night to meet up with a birthday party. Around midnight on a SATURDAY night it was half empty. It filled up as we were there, but it was far more entertaining to observe than partake in the sweaty, grindy mess happening on the dance floor. My friend danced on a pole and I indulged in free birthday booze, which I later learned was a bit of a no-no from the birthday party committee..?? This is the kind of place where people get bent out of shape about their booze and are more concerned with how the party looks than having FUN at the party. I found it very wannabe-pretentious. The best part was watching the tall, very cute employee bus tables, keep an eye on the crowd, take pictures with gross girls, and look entirely beyond bored. I feel for you, guy.

First off this place smells like bad BO, the service is horrible. The drinks are over priced and weak. Second the bouncers tried to fight multiple (including myself) people just right outside their velvet ropes. Doormen yelled and cursed at people as they waked by when they choose not to go in. Boo this place! If you like young fake tanned jacked up beefcakes then this is the place for you.

This place has potential, but it was completely dead on a Saturday night. The music was good...a mix of alternative, hip-hop and newer dance. The DJ had a bit of attitude when some of my friends made song requests, or maybe he just didn't like our taste in music...not sure. The bartenders gave our group a free round of champagne, which was much appreciated. The bathrooms were VERY clean, but I'm guessing since the place is practically empty those are directly proportional. We ended up leaving to search for a place to be able to blend into the dancefloor.

Out of the hundreds of bars downtown this one is the absolute worse. We reserved a table and bottle service for NYE for 10 people and came in to find out the seating arrangement would only sit 3 small girls, a table that would only fit the ice- literally couldn't even put a drink down on the table all for over $600. The manager- Melanie, changed her story numerous times as to how many people we reserved the table for and also how many bottles came with the table. She had a terrible attitude when we approached her regarding the seating and size of the table- after finally getting our bottles- 25 minutes after arriving- we had to ask numerous times for the mixers. We never received champagne glasses with our bottle of champagne- we didn't receive our second bottle of champagne until 1:15, 75 minutes after midnight. Melanie was rude enough to say, "Y'all can leave, but there is a $300 deposit, and I have your authorization form that is signed by you." We did not want to leave, we had already planned our entire New Years eve party with a huge group of friends, all we wanted was reasoning behind the false advertisement as well as the rude attitude. Overall- we ended up making the night wonderful, but all because of the group of people we were with. The sushi advertised was awful, the floor is so slippery- we saw numerous people slip and fall- too many drunk idiots and terrible arrangement of the place- I can def say this is one place I will NEVER step foot in again. AWFUL SERVICE, AWFUL MANAGEMENT, RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL- Overall rating is a 1.

Horrible service and rude people. Then to top it off I left my credit card and the owner (after attempting to call him for two days) said I had to wait almost a week to get it back! When I said I couldnt wait that long the owner said he would charge me $25 to get my credit card back, seriously! I had to cancel my card and order a new one.

My husband and I only go to this place when any of our friends are dj'ing. Some of the staff seem pretentious for no reason. They also seem a little racist (although they bang hip-hop like crazy). Their drinks can be a little pricy too... Not my favorite place to go by any means...

This place used to be Gruv. I've been here a handful of times since it became Suite 101 and I feel like it's gotten less desirable with every visit. The first time I was there, it was still playing a mix of remixed top 40, hip-hop, and some dance music....my kind of place! The next couple of times, it was leaning more towards hip-hop, but still more well-known stuff...a little too hip-hoppy for me, but still fun because of the mix. This past time, heavy on the hip-hop...the hard hip-hop. It was almost like I couldn't figure out dance to some of it. Now, I'm not the BEST dancer in the world by any means, but I can usually find a beat, and some of this stuff was not working. We got there early enough to where the DJ was still taking requests, so it was fun for our group for a while. Then later on, the music became obnoxious and super loud. I was still dancing a bunch with my friends, but we would stop every now and then to just look at each other like "how do we dance to this music?" If it hadn't been for the fact that I was with my group of best friends, that experience would have been sucky. Or, it could just be that I'm not "with it" enough to know good music?? Who knows...all I know is that the music there is not what I would normally want to dance to.

Had a good-enough time at New Years at this joint. Most of the music was dance-able... the dancer quality was poor, and I am assuming we had the a-team on new years! I'm always up to go with the flow and hopefully the flow is somewhere else next year.
