This by far was my favorite gallery of the 4 that reside in the same building. Anya Tish herself is here and welcomed us around. She gave us a tour of her gallery and gave us a bit of history to the artist she had on show. Since we seemed very interested she even allowed us to look around her office area and kitchen where there was some other pieces. Great lady who was very nice! The content here was something called Lenticular photographs mounted on aluminum by Begona Egurbide. This was nothing I had ever seen before. It was basically a collection of 10-20 photographs crafted so that from each different angle a different image was viewable and if you walked from side to side it told an amazing story through pictures.

This is one of my favorite galleries in Houston. I have known Anya for 20+ years and have enjoyed every piece I've purchased from her. I highly recommend the gallery.

William Cannings opens tonight at 6 pm, excellent work by a professor from Texas Tech who has mastered sculptured steel forms that appear light and fragile. The artist is in town and he is quite interesting and creative. Anya Tish has consistently had some of the most unique and creative young artists for over 24 years. You will usually either like the art or you will love it!

Shows here are hit and miss in terms of good exhibitions. Even when the shows aren't great, they're pretty good. The current show, Maxim Wakultschik's, Closely Watched Trains, is outstanding. Get yourself over to it! The gallery itself is like the other spaces in this sextet of galleries situated at 4411 Montrose. What this comparison translates to is a bunch of white walls. Nothing wrong with that, it is about the art after all! Or getting schnockered and talking in front of a piece an art lover took time out of their evening to come see. Yes. . . I'm a bitter, bitter person. Moving along. Whether you're an art lover, an art boozer or both--Anya Tish is definitely a stop you should make in your journey. Just don't spill your drink on the art--it's not cheap!
