Such a cute indie bookstore in the heart of Montrose. The family that runs this place is so incredibly friendly - you can definitely tell it's a passion project of theirs. The store probably has a more progressive bent, but you can find a wide range of books across the spectrum. They have an art gallery upstairs that has rotating exhibits, and they do events/talks here from time to time (join their email list to be up to date on upcoming events). You can buy gift cards here, and they may perfect gifts for the bookworms in your life if you can't figure out what to get them. There's also a decent sized parking lot, so don't have to struggle with street parking. Basket Books will always have a special place in my heart because it's where I met my gf :) Probably my favorite bookstore in Montrose, and I always will try to go out of my way to support local.

The clerk couldn't get off his phone long enough to help me, which is a shame because otherwise I would have a nice selection of books.

A hidden gem for art lovers, this indie bookstore is packed with beautifully curated titles on everything. Definitely not my speed but great for those who love the arts! They have a gallery upstairs which was nice to look at. It is a lot smaller than most book stores within the loop but def a place to visit.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! I wish i remembered the sweet employee that helped me. we talked about sylvia plath and she showed me some rare books we both connected to. amazing selection, showcasing local writers and powerful novels. the way the store is designed makes it easy to walk around without bumping into people. super friendly and gorgeous vibes

Cute little bookstore with an upstairs event space. They don't have a huge variety of books- it's maybe more of a browse and find something new/fun vs go in looking for something specific kind of store. There's art, feminism, poetry, some fiction. All new- no used books. The day I was there someone was upstairs doing tarot readings.

A gem. One of those rare, few bookshops that actually makes your city feel like it has its own literary life/culture. Basket Books is involved in the Hosuton literary comunity and an excellent space for contemporary literature (not to mention their excellent selection! They literally have everything from queer, radical left, feminist works by authors of color as well as the "classics"--not to mention their phenomenal collection of art books!). Looking for a good book? Go here! Want to attend a poetry reading/local visual arts event? Go here! On a cute date and want seem worldly and well read? Go here! 11 out of 10 stars--highly recommend Oh, and did I mention that they have an art gallery on the second floor?!?
