A little birdie told me this was the spot! Went in for a gathering around 3:30 pm on a Friday. Front lot is small but there is additional parking on Mandela (there is a sign). There is a small outdoor patio space. Inside was a vibe. There is bar seating of course and various sitting areas. The music was a mix and very good because I knew the words to a lot of the songs. I am not a drinker but had a few because of the celebration. And they were all delicious. Also tried some of the food. The chicken empanada was amazing. So delicious. The pizzas were pretty good too. I wanted to try the paninis but everyone kept getting to them before I could. The staff are so friendly and fun. Honestly they are probably why I enjoyed it so much. Def a place I'd come back to for a night cap or just a lowkey meet up with friends.

Birdies Den opened up in January in Upper Kirby pretty much right next door to The Toasted Coconut. I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon as part of a Sunday fun day. My friend Tiffany J. was the first person to review Birdies Den so I will happily be the third. She recommended this spot, so I was excited to check it out as we have similar taste in watering holes. Ambiance (4.5/5): There were only two other people at the bar when we arrived which I like. A less crowded and loud experience is my preference. I can't comment on how things are at a peak time like a Friday or Saturday night, but I liked what I saw on a Sunday. Birdies Den gives you trendy mountain vibes. There are animal heads that adorn the walls. Seating at the bar as well as comfortable sofas. There was incense burning in a section of the bar. My type of place. Service (4.5/5): While Birdies wasn't busy, the bartender was friendly and did a good job taking care of us. Efficient service. No complaints. Food (N/A): I had lunch prior to stopping by so no food for me on this visit. They had a collaboration going with Blood Bros BBQ. Two items were available including a bahn mi pizza. Had I not previously ate, I definitely would have been interested. Drinks (4/5): Now here's what's important: Birdies has a nice list of craft cocktails. They're split up into three sections: high octane, low octane, and no octane (maybe the last one is something more creative than that, I forget). As you would expect, cocktails appearing under the high octane section are boozier cocktails. Which is what I gravitated to. I had the Spanish Monk which was a well-made gin-based cocktail with egg whites. A little protein in my cocktail, I won't say no to that. Interesting blend of flavors. While I only had one drink, there were several other offerings on the menu that I was interested in. If you're looking for a quality drink in the area, Birdies makes for a good choice. In fact, a one-two punch with The Toasted Coconut (or the new speakeasy inside) is a next level way to do it.

I randomly stumbled upon this gem when I was browsing nearby bars on Google Maps. Birdie's Den has been open since January and it is in the space previously occupied by the Penny Whistle Irish Pub. My friend and I stopped in for a night cap on a Saturday night. I was surprised to see an empty parking lot but I was also happy to see that they have their own lot as parking can be challenging in Montrose. A staff member held the door open for us as we walked in. That immediately left a good impression. The entire evening, the staff including our bartender Will were so nice. The bar was dark and had an intimate feel. There are little nooks with comfy chairs throughout so it can feel like you have some privacy. My friend and I sat at the bar. Some of the decor reminded me of Incanto in the Heights. They also have a large patio out front. Birdie's Den serves food and drinks. I'm not sure how late the kitchen stays open, but the food menu was still available around 10 pm. The drinks are classified as high octane and low octane. My friend and I both ordered drinks from the high octane menu. Let me tell you, both of our drinks were extremely boozy! I had a Vesper Elion. It was good, but so strong! The booziness was on par with the drinks at Davenport. I enjoy a good Vesper so I was expecting the booze, but I had to slow down with this one. My friend had the Oaxacan Old Fashioned. It's Mezcal based. My friend tried to water her drink down, but it was too strong. Will noticed that she wasn't drinking it and offered to make her a different drink. That was so cool of him to do. I tried a sip of the drink and it was definitely high octane. We didn't order any food, but the menu has items like pizza and paninis. They also have steak night on Tuesdays. I think I may have found a new bar to frequent in Montrose and I can't wait to return!

Omg, I am a fan of cuppie pepperonis. And this place really delivers. It's so nice to be able to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and not have to go anywhere else for food. Cate is a great bartender, super attentive, excellent happy hour spot! Honestly Nonnnos needs to up their game, with this next door.

We went there on a Friday evening and the setting was intimate and dimly lit inside. I honestly didn't know if we were in the right place that served food. It had more of a bar setting and there was a pool room table. As we reached the bar we saw the paper menus with pizza, paninis, light snacks, and drinks. We started off with the Mayan micheladas. They were so tasty! I enjoyed these a lot. And then we ordered and shared the mortadella pizza. That was also delicious and also felt like it was for a single hungry person. We were both hungry so in my mind I think another pizza would have satisfied us more. But we had another place to be after that so we did not get any other foods. I also tried the vesper elion. That was like a dry martini . If dry martini's are your thing it's worth trying. My boyfriend enjoyed it. Their Paloma was great as well. I also tried their hemp spirit mojito which was also perfectly made. The staff was very nice and the guy who helped us with our drinks and food was very knowledgable and he was great when it came to any questions we had.

First time at Birdie's & had a great night! Nel & Will were fantastic; the drinks, ambiance, & effort in building relationships to their customers made the experience overall memorable--Top-notch vibes -- highly recommend!

If you haven't tried birdies den yet please do. One of my favorite spots. Nice dark loungy place with a big beautiful bar, nice separate spaces to enjoy time with your friends or significant other. Great music. Some of the best bartenders in town. They give the best service and pour amazing drinks. Its kinda that no tvs inside vibe you find in Austin. So you can enjoy the people your with, no distractions. A beautiful patio that does have tvs if that's your thing. Let me not forget how great the food is. Especially the pizza outstanding. This place is one of my regular go tos it never disappoints.
