HUGE CHANGE, from my first visit, when Case, preformed last year, March. The front for guys, nice and respectful, entry desk, lady, welcoming & nice. Sunday, (last) night, was my second time visiting this venue. Engine room had Webbie was a guest performer, or in the case, a guest appearance. I RSVP online, for free, and was still granted access after 1:15 am. Which was great. But I see that the dress code wasn't followed. This spot went from: sugar to shit, class to trash, first to last, gold to coal. (Men went from dressy casual, blazers, possibly even suits, to pants off their asses. Ladies, look like escorts.) Webbie stood on the stage, with a dozen of other unknown artists, 10 to 15 minutes before closing, smoking the entire time. And NEVER touched a mic. Would have enjoyed my time, much better, at Starbucks, reading my book. I had a friend who arrived 10 minutes before closing, they still charged him $25. After they have remove the cash box from the building. They wad not expecting anymore entries, especially when people was leaving. The guy didn't even give the paid guest,a wrist band, because they packed all that shit up, and was closing in 10 mins. To see trash on a stage. One lady, wanted her money back. I only knew one song that was played over, and song by an unknown artist. Mariah Carey perform way more than Webbie. At least she tell you, she ain't doing jack on the mic.

Never in my life have I paid $14 for a drink. Why today did I change my mind???? Because it was so hot from the ac not working! I needed something to cool down. This was the first night that the Poetry Lounge was featured at the Engine Room....great big hot meltdown-literally! Glad I didn't wear makeup-it would have been running down my face. And top make things worse, they passed out paper napkins to dab the sweat off. Really?! Not a free glass of water???!!! The nerve of this place thinking they deserve 20% added to a tab automatically when you can't even keep the ac on and the dj can't even spin a record because the speakers are whack! The disco ball on ceiling is a nice 70s touch to top off the outdated decor. And them hard booth seats that actually turn out to be storage areas...very classy and cheesy....got to be better places in Houston to host the Poetry Lounge. Much more choices for parking here (street or lot) but from the expensive drinks made by amateur bartenders to the hot and humid atmosphere of the lounge is a no go for me. Wouldn't have stayed as long as did--only because I was supporting someone I knew do her poetry that night. She unfortunately was last on the list...yet they drew numbers randomly and all the well known poets in Houston performed first??? Horrible experience. TM

TRASH! The employees at this club live inside of a make believe video or life not sure lol seriously. I blame social media. Any who, The promoters are vultures and lie to get a penny from you. The bottle girls are ugly and rude. I asked what liquor i could purchase and she told me $300 for a bottle and she would have to see what was left. Management and staff if you are offended by this review please contact me personally, so that we can discuss how rude, disorganized, dirty your club is. If you want to get shot or robbed you should attend this club. Also we could go further into details about how you employee promoters who lie about section price for parties, bottle rates etc to earn an extra penny. #neveragain

Went for the Mali Music concert. First time here so didn't know what to expect. Left the house 2 hours early because I thought there would be traffic but got there closer to an hour so I waited in the car an hour until doors opened at 8. Since I was alone I paid for parking in the lot behind Engine Room which was $10. I missed the memo about RSVP'ing a table in addition to purchasing a ticket so I had to stand all night. If you are going here for a concert, make sure you get a table. I stood for almost 5 hours. There were about 12 acts before him and when he came out after Midnight he was only on stage about 20 minutes. Had I known I would've arrived at 11-11:30. After the concert I researched it and there were quite a few different flyers going around. Just so happens the one I saw did not mention other artists. I would probably venture here for a poetry night or something. They call this a club but I don't know where you would dance. It gives me more of a lounge feel. They also had Hookah and food which was a nice touch as well.

It's disappointing to see so many negative reviews about this club. ER hands down is one of the "littiest" clubs right now. Whether you come on a Friday night or a Saturday you're guaranteed to have a good time. From the bottle girls, to the people at the door, to the people in the restroom you're treated with respect no matter what the color or attire (however ladies & gents the people at the door will not let you in with flips-flops lol). This club can get packed, and I mean shoulder to shoulder touching, but however many people are in the club, it is indeed, INDEED insulated with air conditioning. I've been here numerous times and if I'm complaining about the temp it's either because it's too cold and NOT too hot! If you see Aristocrat Life plastered anywhere you're going to have a good time. JR Martin is a man about his business, Nigerians don carry last when it comes to entertainment. Whether you have a section or not (never experienced not being in one) you will have a good time, the music is up to date, I mean the day Future released his album it was playing that same night. They even dedicate 10-15 minutes to play recent Nigerian music as well! This club is great, don't mind what the others have said! Xo, no

I honestly really liked this place but I had to take a few stars away for a couple of things. We went on a Friday night during college championship playoffs when Stevie J was there ...I don't really care who that is but just to set the mood. 1. There is absolutely no space for you if you do not have bottle service. Had I known that I would have purchased bottle service; actually we tried to but it was sold out. It is crowded as heck in there. Basically zero space to even stand if you are not at a table. Lesson learned - get a table. 2. The drinks are outrageously priced and the bartenders include their own tip on the price. I believe (1) drink was $16 with a $2 set tip for the bartender. So again, I would say get drunk before you go or have bottle service. The vibe was nice - seemed high end and fun. The music was great for my friend and I and we luckily found a place to stand/dance for the night. Overall a fun place and I would definitely go back again.

This club has one of the worse set ups I have ever seen. The main room of the club is littered with nothing but sections, and there is no real dance floor. This creates a scene that is not conducive to partying, where people just stand around, "stunt", and just look at one another. A club has to actually have a dance floor to be as " Lit" as possible, and since this club doesn't have one, it falls way short. I was so glad that I purchased my ticket pre-sale for Super Bowl weekend, because I would have been pissed had I paid what they were asking for at the door.

ZERO STARS. This place was not my "cup of tea". Some friends from out of town and I visited this club on Friday, April 22nd. My friends had previously paid for a VIP booth with bottle service. This club is next door to a very cute Jamaican-style restaurant Calabashas (sp), which in hindsight, would have been a much better option than the Engine Room. LOL Parking was confusing. We didn't know whether we could park in the lot across the street or off street. There were other paid lots surrounding the place ranging from $10 to $20. We parked in the lot across the street without putting money in the machine, taking our chances, because according to the sign (which is clear as mud) there may or may not be a parking fee (smh). Upon arrival at around 11pm, there was a line outside of the door of mostly 21 year olds and barely legal teens. I must admit, I did not choose this club, so I was going with the flow and wanted to party with my friends. The cover charge for me and my friend was $20 each, since my other friends (the group) had prepaid for their VIP setup; but fortunately, one of my friends graciously reimbursed me (which was very kind). The club setup was strange, warehouse style with a stage and a row of couches to the left and along the back wall with benches on a raised area (one step above the main floor)---this was the alleged "VIP area". I don't recall seeing an actual dance floor because it was PACKED. My friends VIP table was at the very end, which came with a lot of traffic. There were people constantly walking past the table and down the stairs..up the stairs...down the stairs...up the stairs...bumping into the table, working my LAST nerve. The security guards were constantly yelling for people to "clear the area" in front of the VIP section facing the stage, which by the way, included 2 dancers and some local rapper dude---it was awful. Oh! Did I mention the waitresses in beyonce-esque leotards doing a lap every 20 minutes or so with the sparkling flares? Needless to say, I uber-ed the heck out of there after an hour and do not plan to return. Oh, how could I forget--Shad Moss aka Lil Bow Wow or Bow Wow made an appearance (*eye roll*)--sorry, I wasn't impressed, nor was I impressed by the club promotional video screen, which played on an endless loop of the celeb-reality star-hood-model-turned-actress, Draya making an appearance at the club. (*insert 2nd eye roll here*) If you like hot, chaotic, crowded, clubs with loud trap music, a ridiculous inflated cover charge and suspect parking--this is your place! Knock yourself out because I won't be back!

Came here to see a Chico DeBarge show. He was nothing like what I expected however, I did like the Engine Room's chic and trendy set up and lighting. Its funny with places like this... I'd hate to see them with the lights on! Besides my jest, I thought this was a beautiful venue. Drinks were pricey but where aren't they. Hookah was a nice touch and the servers were pretty attentive and available despite the large crowd. There was some exclusive seating occupied by the fancy people. Those seats were draped in linens and positioned above the general seating area. There were booths (also VIP but we sat at them anyway) and tables to again, accommodate the large crowd. Another big thing was that the bathrooms were clean. That is a woman's dream! I would return for a club night or another event. Security were all down to earth. Just a good night, no problems.

YIKES. WORST CLUB EXPERIENCE EVER. ZERO STARS! Staff was completely unfriendly. It was free to get in until 11PM, we arrived at 10:15.. they made us wait until 11 to get in and then they charged us $20 a piece, made us go the ATM which was broken, so he suggested we CASH APP him..... THAT $ DID NOT GO TO THE CLUB. It went to $biggboyy1979 LOL. Dumb us. Then we were charged $40 for two Xsmall vodka drinks.... Overall no one was dancing, everyone standing around, was not LIT AT ALL. All these reviews are bad.... sad because this could be a really cool spot.
