Captain Bad News is actually all good news--it's my favorite cocktail bar in the city. The name speaks for itself, because the drinks are grown, sexy, and make you feel like an elite millennial with every sip. Prices won't wreck your wallet, and every cocktail is mixed to perfection. Only "bad news"? Maybe light up that stairwell before somebody takes a tumble and really lives up to the name. Other than that, the vibe is smooth, the atmosphere is chill, and the drinks hit every time. If you want a well-mixed cocktail and a cool place to post up, Captain Bad News has your back.

One of the best cocktail bars in Houston... if you can find the right door . The staff is super helpful and friendly, and they play a nice mix of music. Drinks are reasonably priced for the quality, and I'm picky. I usually stick to my go-to drinks, but here I actually step out of my comfort zone to try their different cocktails, and I'm always pleasantly surprised. Happy Hour is fantastic! The house daiquiri on special is a must-try. They also change their menu seasonally (I believe), so there's always something new to look forward to. These guys are true mixologists.

Don't feel bad if you can't find this place initially, it's tucked away in a tiny entrance to a lawyer's office. This is strictly a second floor bar so if you enter a bar on the first floor you're in the wrong spot. Anyway, once you stumbled upstairs to Captain Foxheart's you'll enjoy the nice speakeasy ambiance along with their drinks. They hit a little hard but you don't feel the burn and the mixes are quite nice. If the great indoors is not doing it for you, then they have a little balcony outside too. So enjoy a drink indoors, outdoors, whatever you like. All in all? It's a fantastic rustic vibe for a chill round of drinks.

It is a place to go if you want a chill vibe with a patio view of the old bar hopping side of the city. This part of the city isn't all that great for clubbing however, it's kind of ghetto. This place in particular is okay, but nothing too special other than the patio offered.

A group of friends came here for drinks on a Saturday night. We came around 9 ish pm and were able to find the location and seated quickly. There is a bouncer who checks everyone's ids. The drinks were great but the non alcoholic ones were meh. Skip those. Ghost stories stuck out as the most unique drink. It was savory so it was very interesting. There is a balcony where you can swim some of the highlights of the city and it was somewhat loud. We paid for parking in a nearby garage.

A Speakeasy of speakeasies-- so much so I almost had to look up the entrance. It's dark and tucked away, upstairs. The cocktails are THE craftiest, and the bartender I met was fantastic and so knowledgeable. The 80's playlist was nice. We randomly, almost had the place to ourselves and had a blast!

First off this is the least known and best happy hour in Houston. Every once in a while when I'm downtown and don't feel like beating rush hour or I'll stop in here. It's a great atmosphere. The bartenders all know a lot about their extensive spirit selection. Cannot recommend enough. It is a beautiful dark bar with which wood surfaces Pretty sure they don't have any food. The bartenders here are all on Power with Anvil.

I had heard of this bar for a while now, but when I found myself of downtown Houston on a weekend night I figured I would give it a try It's not considered a speakeasy but there is zero signage from the street. There is a bouncer out front checking IDs, and when you head through a set of doors and up a dark stairway. This might sound creepy, but it's actually exciting. As you make it to the top of the stairs and open another door you enter a very hip and intimately lit bar The bar itself is fully stocked with virtually everything. It's aesthetically appealing. There were literally several bartenders working the long bar It was fairly packed, but it never felt like people had to crowd around the bar and stack in line to place an order The bartenders were incredibly professional. It is apparent that they take a lot of pride in their craft. I was also impressed with their small talk. A couple bartenders actually gave us recommendations and offered some history of the bar There is a wide variety of in house signature cocktails. These are all described on the menu, they show you what glassware it comes in, and it identifies which bartender created the recipe. Beyond this there are other classic cocktails to choose from Besides the tasty cocktails I was most impressed by how affordable the cocktails were. They aren't cheap in quality or price... but they aren't say "NYC cocktail prices" Some tips: Ask the bartender which cocktail they prefer. Also, ask which bartender is which, because their initials are on the menu next to their signature cocktails. These Old Fashion is their best seller, and if you go on Wednesday nights they have $2 Bicardi Old Fashions Cheers!!

With a unique drink menu and well-situated balcony for people watching, this hidden bar was a great end to our evening as part of a friend's birthday celebration. What made this place stand out was their drink selection, which also included a great non-alcoholic section as well. From hibiscus to curry-themed drinks, this place does it all. I also like that they switch up their menus every so often to keep things interested. Note that street signage is minimal and that the entrance leads you up a long flight of stairs.

Celebrating a birthday we bar hopped and landed at Capitol Foxhearts and had some delightful drinks. Not well hodden..lol...but worth climbing the stairs to experience.
